One sunny, bright morning, Ian and Sarah were playing hide and seek in Ian’s backyard. It was Ian’s turn to hide, and he decided to go over the fence into the woods. Sarah will never find me here, Ian thought to himself as he walked deeper into the woods.
“Ready or not, here I come!” he heard Sarah yelling.
“You’re never going to find me!” Ian yelled to Sarah as he jumped over a fallen tree. Sarah looked all throughout the yard and couldn’t find Ian. She remembered that there was a tree stump in the corner that someone could use to easily jump over the fence. Suddenly Sarah heard Ian’s loud voice in the woods, “Are you even trying to find me!” “I’m coming for you!” Sarah exclaimed as she jumped over the fence. Ian had an idea and started to climb the nearest tree. Ian grabbed a handful of pine cones from the tree and waited for Sarah to come near him. He waited and just as he was about to go home, he heard a noise in a small bush under him. Ian threw the pine cones at the bush and a small, blue bird flew out of it and went to a tree. Haha Sarah probably quit because she couldn’t find me, Ian thought to himself as he climbed out of the tree. Ian started getting bored, so he tried to find his way home, but he forgot where he came from. I think I walked past that rock when I came here, Ian thought. He kept walking past the rock deeper into the woods. I hope I’m not lost, Ian thought. As he continued walking, he heard a loud chirping noise, and looked to where it came from.
Innocence first proclaims itself when Sarah discovers that she is not returning home. Sarah’s behaviour and lack of understanding towards pressing information is a portrayal of how she has been raised to be quite naïve. These preceding traits are revealed when Sarah explains to her brother, “I’ll come back for you later. I promise.” (9). Here, Sarah proves her innocent nature as a result of being raised by her parents in an exceedingly structured way. Guilt emanates into Sarah’s moral conscience when her father confesses that “we are not going back. They won’t let us back.” (23). Furthermore, Sarah’s sheltered upbringing is proved to be true when she smiles at a boy during the roundup and he looks back at her like she’s crazy. She then thinks to herself, “Maybe [I] had got it all wrong. / … Maybe things were not going to
One morning, when I shook Sarah’s hand, she didn’t wake up. Her hand felt cold, so I pulled her yellow blanket up around her shoulders. I crawled back into my own bed and waited. Every few minutes I called, “Where’s Sarah?”, but she just kept on sleeping.
On this particular day, she was walking through the woods, singing and skipping merrily along. All of a sudden, there was a sound behind her. As she turned around to
“Where should we walk to?” I asked. “I don’t know” said Megan. Elizabeth chimed in saying “let’s just walk around seeing where we end up.” The three of us walked around, and ended up at the playground at Olmsted Elementary School. It was chilly out, but you only needed a sweatshirt. The playground was spooky at night. It felt like someone was hiding waiting for
In just a matter of months, Sarah has hastily experienced and heard things that she hadn’t thought she would. As she moved into her cousin’s home, she begins to see how the
Carl and Jackie decide to wander in the forest in search for Roxy. “This is all your fault! If it wasn't for your story, Jim wouldn’t have got scared, and Roxy would be here right now!” Jackie exclaimed to Carl. “Hey, it's not like I meant to scare him,” He explained. Time passes and Jackie looks around consequently noticing Jim's missing “Carl where is Jim?” Jackie asked, “I believe he was behind us, Jim?” He replied worried. They travel deeper into the forest searching for Roxy and Jim, jumping at every branch they break, or the howls they hear. They begin to shout Jim's name terrified of where he could possibly be, or if he's
We snuck in quietly, and I tensed when I saw Cristy Pines waiting on the counters. She looked like she just got in a fight with a bear with her messy hair and dark stains on her clothes. I wondered what they were and tried to get closer, but then I saw something that made me stop right in the middle of my tracks. Diary, you are probably wondering what it was because I have told you so much already, so I will now explain what I saw and what I did after I saw it.
The kids always played near the local woods, filled with abandon little homes and shacks and long pine trees that reached to the sky. As the children shrieked, a flock of crows answered back with a loud “crow.” The children also felt a sense of freedom as flew around the air as the kids began running until their feet ached. The game that they always played was hide-and-seek which only George and the kids only knew.
The sounds of the birds was unpleasant, it was endless cries and screeches. As I looked around, I realized that I was just in a plane crash in the middle of the Amazon jungle. Immediately a panicking thought was in my head, Dakota, Mark, Leo, where are you!. A small voice came from the other side of the plane wreck, it was Leo and Mark, “ where’s Dakota, Mark had a horrid look on his face, “I- I don’t know I thought he was with you or something” “ look!” said Leo he’s over there, “ what where” said Mark and Trent under the that sheet of metal, they swiftly went over and pulled him out under the metal. “Hi guys you found me”, “of course we did said Leo, can you stand up through”, “yes just grab my arm”. They slowly lifted him up. “ now what? Said Mark”, Grape all the supplies we you can said Trent”. As they moved around picking anything they could use, they all dropped the items into a pile. Duct Tape, a hunting knife kit, a fire starter, little food, and a flare gun. “Come on we need to get moving, if you want to get help” said
As she rubbed her eyes in exhaustion she remembered the adventures of the day before. When she got home she passed out from the excitement and strain on her heart. She reached down to check her leg and sighed with relief to find a replacement was already attached. She looked over at her nightstand and noticed her spare glass waiting for her to put them on. As she got out of bed all she could think about was how rude she was to Sam. She walked into the kitchen to see her mother preparing breakfast. She looked around and did not see Sam. She didn’t know why she expected to see her but she was upset that he was not here. Her mom turned a saw her disappointment and said “He seem in quite a rush to leave he left his job to help you.” She was startled by her answer and rushed out the door ignoring the cries from her mother. She hurried Sam’s farm almost throwing up because of the strain on her heart. When she reached the farm she found an old man working the fields. She rushed over and asked, “Where is Sam?” The old man replied, “I fired him because...” She didn’t let him finish She rushed to the road the taste of blood in her mouth from running. She saw a man walking on the road looking forlorn. She called out, “Sam!” The man stopped and turned it was Sam he answered her, “Joy?” She ran into his arms and started to cry. Sam confused hugged her back. She thought to herself about how a horrible incident led to her
Hazel continued to follow Hannah to the driveway of the Etheridge’s. She decided that it wouldn’t be a smart idea to go any further, for she might be caught. She hid in a medium sized bush on the front side of the house. From there she could hear Hannah and Brad yelling at each other. She heard the back door open and the two walk out. Hazel snuck around the side of the house. Once she was in the fenceless backyard, she climbed Brad’s old treehouse. With the cover of the overgrown bushes and that Brad and Hannah were too busy arguing, she was able to get to the top without them
Megan looked at me, we had both finished our food. “Let’s go home.” I say, and she nods. We walk out to her car, and drive back to Ruddy Duck Farm. We walk up to the house, and we see my parents, and Megan’s standing inside with a variety of expressions stuck on their face. Shocked. Sad. Some are crying. “Mom? Dad?” I say, confused. “What’s going on?” My mom is too hysterical to answer. My dad silently hands me a letter, and as soon as i read it my heart and everything else sinks. Eric had been murdered. Not just by anyone, but by Mr Fraser. No wonder I had such a bad feeling today. Mr Fraser had escaped, and since he couldn't come back here to get revenge, he went to Toronto to find Eric. He had murdered him. I couldn't find the words, or the actions. My brother and best friend. Someone I had known for so long gone forever. Half of me didn't believe it, half of me would do anything for one second of time with him.
“Hey! We missed one. Where do you think you’re goin’? Get back here!” I hadn’t thought this through. I should’ve stayed hidden. I ran and ran until I clumsily tripped over the branch that had fallen from the tree. I fell to the ground, and my vision became blurry. I was going home.
One day, Greta asks June to meet her in the woods near her school after her high school theater performance. On the same day, June’s mother discovers the additions on the painting and grounds June. June goes to see Greta’s show, but as Greta ascends the stage, June realizes that Greta is drunk. Because she’s grounded, June is unable to meet Greta in the woods. Instead, she calls Toby and asks him to bring Greta home. It’s very cold in the woods, and both Toby and Greta become very sick.
We were camping in the woods like we did every summer the last weekend before school. Me and Alex had heard of an old abandoned cabin in the woods, that had supposedly been home to witches. Supposedly they had come back to haunt it. No one believed those old wives tales. Annie however, well she was scared of her own shadow.
