According to USA.gov, “it costs an estimated $113 billion for 13 million illegal aliens and their U.S. born children in federal, state and local governments.”(www.USA.gov). Finding ways to reduce the increasing amount of costs per year, an idea that was placed into action that that would create and implement a law, which would restrict these programs only to the person whom has the legal status within the country and excluding the rule to those who remain illegal, this included illegal step-parents and parents of their U.S. citizen child. Another important way in which the rise of more illegal immigrants adds another burden to the economy is through the judicial system. Which goes over resolution of disagreements both civilly regarding lawsuits …show more content…
Their jobs are to sneak in illegal immigrants to their designated country. This job, although extremely illegal typically pays well and is performed by specialists who know there way around the land and police locations. The risky drawback that goes with this choice is that very little supplies are taken and scarcely used to avoid slowing down traveling to the U.S. as quickly and safely as possible. This ultimately puts the body at the endurance mode with very little to eat or drink which is why a high amount of immigrants never reach the other side alive. In order to see less tragedies like this we need to enforce our policies regarding entrance towards illegal immigrants, which would lead to a decrease in smugglers and …show more content…
Every year crimes are committed in property damage, lawsuits, deaths, containment in prison, court fees and sometimes more than one at the same time depending the situation. If it isn’t enough in the federal register posted on its annual budgeting data for immigrant inmates in correctional centers and prisons; “The fee to cover the average cost of incarceration for federal prisoners in the year 2012-2013 was roughly $28,893.40. The average annual cost to confine an inmate in a Community Corrections Center was $26,163.” (www.federalregister.gov). This data shows promise to increase in expenses in the future which could eventually cause hundreds of millions to the U.S. and tax payers for immigrants mistakes, and ongoing illegal activities. What is still surprising about these number of crimes followed by the statistics overall on money spent to house and care for these immigrants while they’re incarcerated leads to the bigger question as to why they still remain here and aren’t transported back to their home country, or at least serve jail time there. These economic burdens continue to put a dent in the budget we have in order to sustain immigrant convicts within the U.S. and in most cases prisoners are only deported in severe cases that include homicide or massive quantities drug
Crime is another factor that creates controversy with illegal aliens. Some illegal aliens become involved in drug trafficking, rapes, murders, and other crimes. Their involvement reduces the sympathy American citizens show toward them. Many police departments use up their resources investigating the crimes committed by illegal immigrants. This leaves less officers available to assist U.S. citizens. According to the Center for Immigration Studies (2009), about thirty-three percent of crimes committed by illegal aliens are for trafficking drugs. In the same study, eleven percent of them were arrested for assault (Vaughan & Camarota, 2009). Caroline May (2015) from BreitBart News describes in her report that 37.6 percent of federal sentences in 2014 were given to illegal immigrants. In 1980 our federal and state prions held 9,000 criminal aliens, that has now gone up to 55,000. The cost to keep them in prison is estimated at $1.5 to $1.6 billion per year.
Which makes a twisted kind of sense. The man captured the attention of an entire country when he started off his presidential campaign railing against undocumented immigrants, and has made a name for himself as a presidential candidate spouting off hateful drivel. It’s been a ratings boon for networks, a rallying cry for conservatives and self-congratulatory bonanza for liberals that have taken to Facebook to bash him.
When it comes to Enrique and Lourdes I believe that they do defy the stereotypes. This book gave me the knowledge of what really goes on with illegal immigrants. The trouble they go through to get to America is unbelievable. Some even have to the repeat the trip multiple times. Enrique himself had to eight times. The worst is the beatings he went through most times. How can one endure something like that multiple times? The police were nothing, literally nothing. The law is meant to protect people not join in. The emotions come from Lourde and her story leaving your children behind is something I cannot imagine. After reading this I do not think anyone judge immigrants the same.
Many of the illegal immigrants currently in the U.S are Hispanics. Around 81% of all illegal aliens are Hispanic. The large number of Hispanics currently living in the U.S is probably due to the number of illegal organizations in Central and South America. This was a trend that was set in the 1990's and has stayed in place up to now, which is almost 20 years later. This focus on the economics is actually forcing more illegal immigrants to become more involved in illegal activities, creating more of a security problem.
According to the most recently elected President of the United States, Donald Trump, “I could ... shoot people and I wouldn’t lose any voters.” Ironically, this quote from President Donald Trump stated on January 23, 2016 at a rally in Iowa coincides with his continuous claims that immigrants are a danger to our country because of their risk of terrorism. In 1790, Congress adopted a uniform law so that any ¨free white person¨ could apply for citizenship after two years of residency. In 1868, nearly 80 years later, African Americans gained citizenship to the United States with the Fourteenth Amendment. Finally, in 1882, the Chinese Exclusion Act was passed, suspending Chinese immigration for 10 years and barring Chinese in the U.S. from citizenship.
When election cycles rear their heads in the United States, the political atmosphere shifts to focus on certain divisive issues that are discussed by people in power. One of these topics is immigration, which has been emphasized largely in the most recent election. While there are major partisan disputes over how illegal immigrants should be dealt with, one slightly overlooked facet of the discussion is how beneficial illegal immigrants are to the country. Because of their large economic contribution to the country through taxes and occupying empty jobs, illegal immigrants are more beneficial to the U.S. than they are harmful.
Fellow Americans, The United States faces many complications. I believe that our country is failing at doing its job and that compared to America years ago, we are worse off than before. Our country as a whole isn't the only thing that is failing, our educational system has been a problem since 2009. Illegal immigrants are also a problem. They contribute to another issue the US faces, this issue is the National Debt. That being said, I do believe that every problem our country faces can be solved or at least prevented.
Immigration has been an issue within the U.S. from the colonial days. Immigration is a hot topic in the U.S., which is gaining more focused attention due to the upcoming 2016 Presidential election. There are always two sides to an issue and immigration is no different. The Democrats and Republicans have different views on how to reform the immigration policies.
The issue of illegal immigration on the US/Mexican border has been of much interest in American politics in recent years, and continues to stir controversy as immigrants continue to enter the country illegally while Americans are divided about how to address this matter. When looking at the poor and separated families on the news that have been subjected to deportation back to Mexico, we might find it difficult to look at this issue from anything other than an emotionally-charged viewpoint. However, when we do so we neglect to look at the serious issues that illegal immigration both contributes to and causes: crime. Many Americans advocate building a wall on the border to stop illegals from coming through, and although building a wall may
Illegal immigration is a huge issue in many countries, include the United States. It is also one of the complex issues to fix and manage. It involves and effects many area, such as social issues, economic issues, public safety issues, and political issues. Many states in the United States have their own state laws to regulate and fight back for the illegal immigrations and try to protect the interests of their citizens. However, most of the regulations do not work out, because of different opinions of interest groups, political parties, and public.
The issue of immigration in America has caused a major controversial uproar, such as whether or not immigrants have the right to become legal citizens of America and participate in what most citizens take advantage of, like voting and have a driver’s license. Some Americans believe that no one should be allowed to come to America to live because of the fear of minorities trying to take over. While others believe there is nothing wrong with the idea, and that should be given the right to become a citizen of America. Issitt (2016) said, “Immigration refers to the movement of persons from one nation or region to another with the purpose of seeking permanent residence.” According to this view immigrants deserve rights as a citizen if the desire
Immigration is a growing topic in the United States with the more pressing issue illegal immigration. The term immigration is defined as the movement of people to a new country which they are not native to settle or reside in. According to MPI (Migration Policy institute) the U.S. Census Bureau's 2013, and (ACS) American Community Survey, there are approximately 41.3 million immigrants lived in the United States. Out of the 41.3 million immigrants that lived in the country, 1.9 million were on temporary visas, 11.3 million of them were undocumented, about 13.3 million were legal residents and 22.1 million are noncitizens. Over one million immigrants arrive each year and they migrate to different areas in the country. Most illegal immigrants
Introduction Alabama is not necessarily known as a hotbed for illegal immigration issues, so the news flew under the radar. Last year, the state enacted immigration reform of its own after tiring of seeing politicians of all stripes kick the problem down the road. But here's the thing the reforms worked. The state's unemployment rate fell 0.6%, and a lot of those new jobs that were created were specifically attributed to companies hiring Americans after shedding their illegal workers (Munro, 2011). So what is it about immigration reform? Everybody knows that we need it. And on many points, everybody agrees. Yet at the federal level, nothing seems to ever get done, leaving it to the states to create an inherently inefficient system of patchwork laws. What we need is for someone to take charge of this issue in the White House and in Congress it really does not matter who and actually implement meaningful immigration reform.
On November 20, 2014, the President announced a series of executive actions to crack down on illegal immigration at the border, prioritize deporting felons not families, and require certain undocumented immigrants to pass a criminal background check and pay taxes in order to temporarily stay in the U.S. without fear of deportation ("Executive Actions on Immigration"). But in the recent months and in the GOP debates we have heard non-stop talk about illegal immigration. News ranging from the crimes some illegal immigrants have committed in here in the U.S, funding in sanctuary cities, and the numbers of people who manage to get into our country has been thrown to us daily. Illegal immigration is a clear problem for our
There are many issues that come with immigration and the ways of lives that come with it. The political effects, social effects, and economic effects are what causes these issues.
