Informative Speech
Hi my name is Morgan Delgado and my informative speech is about the PAL program. David Green said, “You need an attitude of service. You're not just serving yourself. You help others to grow up and you grow with them.” Many high school students say they are too busy with schoolwork and extracurricular activities to find time to volunteer. What if there was a program that allowed students to help others during the school day? The Peer Assistance and Leadership or PAL program for short, allows students to help others while having fun, earning school credit for the course, and getting volunteer hours. The PAL program provides students with an opportunity to help at risk students, volunteer in the community, and participate

Each PAL is assigned 3-5 students, called PALees, who are identified by the teacher or counselor as needing extra support. The elementary or intermediate students are referred for academic support, behavioral issues, or social issues. It is the PALs job to cater to the need of each student they are mentoring. The PAL visits each of these students once per week for 30 minutes during the school day. Each week has a theme that the activity must follow. Some of the weekly themes include math, reading, crafts, and technology. The PAL plans a new activity for each week to support the need of each student. Many kids benefit from this program because they have someone who is a good role model for them as well as someone they can count on.
PALs not only make a difference in the lives of students, but also in the community. PALs participate in community service project including collecting school supplies, toy drives, and gift packages for the armed forces. PALs also put on events for special needs students such as APE Field Day for all the special needs students in the district. At this event students get to play games and have a chance to win prizes. PALs also support school sports teams by attending games as a group. They support the players by cheering for them and making
For my community service activity, I have chosen to participate in SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) Club. It is an organization to empowering students to make better decisions in life. As a member, I will discourage the usage of bad habits by students in peaceful ways and promote programs. Something I will do is funding for people in need, make a poster for Breast Cancer and other programs, and advise students to make the right choices in life. By my participation, I will be able to promote a student to make the right decisions and staying positive in high school and in the future.
How would you feel if someone you love didn’t remember who you are? That was my mother’s experience. My grand-mother Mrs. Mesidor, who died in 2004 at the age of 110 years old was diagnosed with the worse possibly disease “Alzheimer”. She didn’t remember her own kids or her grand-kids. That was a heart-breaking experience for the family.
For my informative speech, I wanted to pick a topic that I was familiar with but also wanted to know more about. I came to the conclusion to do my speech over child development. I thought it would be interesting because I am taking a class over child development and my future career is going to be early childhood education and elementary education. (Q.1.) The specific purpose of my speech was to teach my audience what child development is and the three components of child development. I think I did well teaching my audience child development because I clearly stated the three components, I established credibility, and made it relatable to my audience. Everyone has been through child development, if you have not been then you would still be an infant.
Who can participate in these programs you named?” PAL currently has 13 programs and growing. However, each year they like to add one new program even if it’s a small on. Boys and girls of ages 5-18 years can participate in these

The early foster system was established in the 1500s in order to care for children who were removed from their parents. Foster care was intended to be a short-term solution until the child is either adopted or reunited with their family. However, the average child will spend over two years waiting to be adopted. But the flaws in this system run much deeper from mental disorders all the way to human trafficking. human trafficking through the foster system is a dire problem that can not be neglected. Today i will be sharing with you through three points; the problem, the pressure( that these kids are under) and the promise(of a better future).
Today I am going to be talking about are 51. Area 51 is located in the middle of the desert in Barren Nevada near a place called Groom Lake. Area 51 was created during the 1900’s. There are many reasons why area 51 was created, but I am going to tell you just two of the reasons. Area 51 was created so that the government can test planes.
The California Scholarship Federation at my high school actively participates in our school's peer to peer tutor and mentor program, as well as serve food to the homeless at our local Gospel Mission and assist in the community's effort to clean our local river, the Tuolumne River. Twice a year, we fundraise for the end of the year senior scholarships for worthy senior CSF members and over the summer we organize a picnic
Stand and Serve, also known as Peer Solutions is an Arizona Based nonprofit organization with the mission of investing in youth to elevate communities. Here at North High School, Stand and Serve meets every Monday during both lunches in LA-35. In addition, there is a weekly after school middle/elementary school peer education program held on Mondays in Phoenix at William T. Machan School.
Not only are programs for children found in schools but community service programs such as the YMCA, YWCA and recreation center offer programs that use powerful social influences on young

Once they have had the chance to run their program in a school they can then make improvements and even expand to other schools in the area. Schools also benefit as the children are gaining experience which they might have not previously been exposed to had there been no local groups integrated into the school. Schools need more support than what they get from the Government as although they provide children with education funding for activities and trips out of school can be found difficult. Local groups made up of parents and residents of the neighbourhood can work together to help the schools in the local area. Forming a group of parents to help in their local school can benefit the school in many different ways as ideas and advice from parents, from different backgrounds, may help the experience of children with new clubs. Local groups of volunteers can benefit schools by helping with events and trips where adult supervision is required. This benefits school children as it allows them to participate in the events and to be around adults that they can look up to. As well as schools being involved in more events and activities they can also benefit from the help of local groups by bringing the community and school together and by gaining

Involvement is evident in the P. A.L program through the many activities that they offer to the kids so that there is something for everyone. The program offers things ranging from “arts & crafts, computer classes, culinary arts, dances, field trips, gymnastics, jewelry making, tutoring and personal development; as well as local, state and national tournaments in basketball, golf, karate, soccer and softball.” ("Pasadena pal program," 2012) With all these activities available to the kids, it is no doubt that some of the kids participate in more than one of
Last school year, three of my peers and I decided that our high school needed a peer-tutoring club, so the last few months of my junior year and the first few weeks of my senior year were dedicated to starting this organization. We organized the structure and goals of the club, and presented our ideas to the administrators. Once we got our approval, we immediately began planning lessons. Two days a week we meet with groups of students that come to us for help on improving their ACT scores or general grades. Our service is open to any and every student. We have tutored students in dual-enrollment courses and in standard academic classes.
