The first paragraph should articulate your basic point of view. An eerie brick red light cast over the stage and shed light onto the intricate design of the stage. The audience was silent, and a feeling of excitement covered the room. Suddenly, everything would change. Singing, dancing and merriment covered the stage and set the path for the many surprises and fantastic contradictions of the play. The performers of Into the Woods succeeded in not only creating a wonderful performance of a beloved play, but also creating a memorable version like no other out there. The acting for the production as a whole was very believable, because the actors seemed to have thorough packing for their characters and to really try to relate to them …show more content…
It’s easy to forget that you are watching an actor playing the character. Her face just seemed so “in the clouds” and she had the most wonderful grin on her face. The performances in the production seemed very spontaneous. The actors never seemed mechanical or as if they had seen anything new their characters encounter a million times before. Their use of tone, pitch and volume in their words conveyed the sense that this was all really happening for the first time right in front of us. They weren’t afraid to use these vocal tools to express their passion and to raise the stakes. This is Jordan 2 what I struggle with most as an actor, so watching it done so well was very helpful and gave me some insight into how it should be done. The characters also had fantastic externals, especially their costumes. When the Witch stumbled in in her black spiked, heeled suit she greatly contrasted the merry townspeople, which I loved. She looked like a great black widow spider within a herd of sheep. It really showed that she’s an outcast from everyone else, which I think is important to the story. The performance style in this production of Into the Woods was somewhat …show more content…
I loved the fact that while they spoke like characters out of an old Disney movie sometimes, the things they said were so blunt and hilarious. It’s part of what really makes Into the Woods what it is. It’s funny, a little gritty, and sometimes even shocking. One of my favorite actors from the performance was the actor who played Cinderella’s prince and the wolf. The wolf’s super objective is to eat (and possibly, depending on your perspective on the play, rape) Red Riding Hood. In all of the wolf’s scene’s he is trying to get her alone to “devour her”. He is bloodthirsty and she is his target. He also doesn’t mind eating Red Riding Hood’s grandma (another objective), but it’s Red Riding Hood he really wants. Some of the obstacles the wolf faces in his journey include the Grandmother and Red Riding Hood’s stubbornness to go straight to Grandmother’s house. He has to figure out a way to lure her off of her path. Jordan 3 Action analysis for a single character in a single scene (continued). Continuing to analyze the same character and scene from Paragraph 4, write about the following elements:
The technical aspects of the production such as scenery, properties and costumes also played a keynote in the productions success. The scenery was fabulous it truly made the play. It was very realistic and extremely vibrant. Almost the entire play was performed in one setting, except for the railcar and dance scenes. The house, the main setting, was magnificent with painstakingly placed detail in every corner. All elements in the house matched wonderfully, for example the furniture, the photos on the wall, the telephone and even the trash can. Little bits of detail were everywhere adding to the beautification of the set, for example the lace decorations on the chairs, the etched glass above the front door and even the Christmas tree.
This is a must watch Broadway show that makes your fine, terrible, or even boring day, an absolute blast. The Play That Goes Wrong has finally made its way to America and right at the heart of New York City near Times Square at the Lyceum Theatre. Therefore, the experience is a win-win situation for the audience. The Lyceum Theatre’s architecture is astonishing as it is filled with ornaments, I also realized the letter ‘L’ around the theater, but the most interesting fact is that it is a landmark. It has a proscenium stage while the audience is in the orchestra, balcony, or the mezzanine seats, like where I sat, and there is barely any space if you are a tall person. My seat was near the far end of mezzanine, I couldn’t see a part of the left side of the stage, so I found myself bending sideways to see what was going on, but I saw nothing. I found the side stage lights and a side balcony blocking my view and yet I had a great time.
Although there were just the slightest things that could be changed and that is that when Molly's part to sing came her voice was barely heard from the middle seats and also the half time food could have been better but aside from that it was great, amazing, astonishing, expectations met! For the first show attending this year it was great that is why I definitely recommend people should go and have an amazing time like I
• What are the characters’ emotions, attitudes, and behaviors? What do these indicate to the reader about the character?
The most successful aspect of the performance for me were the scene changes. I found that the rotation of the blackboard, center stage, where the actors were able to stoop beneath it in order to enter and exit the stage, was an effective touch to this
was interesting for the audience to interact in a way to express what they feel
saw her as being a determined individual that knew what she wanted. Everyone saw the same
In creating the world of the play, the collaborates did justice in bringing out the scenery that the piece is set in. However, the collaborators used the stage design, lighting and costumes also to reveal the internal thoughts of the performers. The use of light was huge, it seemed to rely much on templates that created scenes of rain, green pastures and night sky. Though attributing to the play scenery, the use of lighting also brought out the differing emotions Rosemary and Anthony felt. The presence of death and grief were also addressed properly through the use of light, such as when Anthony father went into a bright light, a symbol of the afterlife. It allowed the audience to focus on each performer pivotal lines, which created for further understanding of the
Giving him locations, in where food and getting the food for the wolf. Although, the fox does this the wolf, always wants more and does something foolish. In the short story it states "The wolf burst into the kitchen himself, and tore the whole plate down so that it broke in pieces. This made such a great noise that the wife came out, and when she saw the wolf she beat him with a broom, chasing him out into the forest". The wolf's foolish move cost'd him.
The director is trying to communicate the love from a father to his daughter. It shows the natural love of human being, so
When it comes it show design I would say it was lack luster. Scene transitions took longer than expected and there seem to be some missed sound and video queues. Costume wise I would say was on point but didn't really add anything but a few chuckles.
The concert was performed on the Southam Hall stage at the NAC; this is a large hall with extremely good acoustics. It is a nationally known stage, so the quality of the hall is very good. Generally, the audience was very receptive as it was composed of adults, who were all silent. The acoustics were very good as the hall spread the sound throughout the hall without making it echo. This had a positive effect on the performance, because it was possible for the orchestra to be clearly heard from any point in the entire hall. I was impressed by the large number of students that I saw that night because the show deserved to have been heard by many young people.
Overall I think the actors and everyone involved in the making of this play did a very good job, even though I liked the performance of some actors better than others. The fact that this translation of the play was a more modern version original play made it more fun to watch according to me. Unfortunately, the fact that I was not able to fully understand the actors’ dialog throughout the play made it less entertaining and agreeable for me to

Besides, the venue has done very well in stage design. LED backdrops and eye attracting decoration were on the stage it seems that the stage has been delicately designed. Participants could see the stage clearly as a big screen is setting at the central of the stage. The stage color is aligning with the event theme color which is purple. In addition, some stage special effects designed for the performance such as the lighting decoration is moving with music and spray the colored ribbon and balloon on the stage at the end of a live music. Behind the stage, a particular booth purpose build for a professional team to control the sound and lighting.
