Fast food can actually be healthier than lunch food. Fast food may have quality meat, depending on which fast food restaurant, but it is very high in calories, carbohydrate, oil, and fat. Lunch food may use different meat, depending on which school it is, but there are standards for what meat and food is being sold in schools, which for that, students can be eating healthily. Fast food should not be served at schools it contains many chemicals that aren’t safe for students to eat, fast food can also lower academic performance for many students, fast food is the cause of diseases, leading students to probably feel sick if they aren’t eating the right foods. Fast food would be nice as an option for students for eating, but the only reason that fast food should be served as lunch is if the cafeteria food is not hitting standards or expectations. …show more content…
Cafeteria food is better than fast food because the cafeteria food is not like fast food; fast food has a lot of unhealthy stuff in it. Cafeteria food is just as good as fast food, because cafeteria food can be healthier, but it isn’t as fast as fast food. Fast food is most likely not to be healthy, but it is very fast to process and make. Cafeterias have to have big kitchens, and to have fast food might be easy to cook, but cafeteria food still does not take longer to make than fast food, according to public school reviews. Fast food might make people want to eat more at home, while if it were to be cafeteria food, people would still want to eat fast food, but not as much with the one or two times the students would eat at school. Fast food can make people want to eat more and lead to more of fast food
While everyone generally knows that fast food is not good for their health, however people still eat it for various reasons. Most people that buy fast food have low incomes, are uneducated, and/or are people just trying to save a couple of bucks. Most people trying to save money are buying fast food and it is costing their health in the long run. This will eventually end up costing people even more money.
Some schools order fast food. The reason why some schools eat fast food is because they don’t have enough teachers or time to cook. The students will be use to eating school lunch than fast foods. Fast food caries more calories than school lunch.
Fast food is unhealthy because it is high in calories and fat. We can see a lot of fast food restaurants in the country. For example, people usually go to Burger King, McDonald´s, KFC, Pizza Hut, and Taco Bell. All these kind of companies damage the health of people. Usually, the citizens consume more than twiece a week, and these can lead them to some diseases. Also, fast food can affect the digestive system. A poor diet trigger digestive problems. For example, it can provoke acid reflux and irritated stomach. Furthermore, it is food poisoring. Fast food restaurants have some food safety violations. For instance, they have inadequate
While most people generally know that fast food is not good for their health, they still eat it for various reasons. Most people that buy fast food are low income, uneducated, and/or are people just trying to save a couple of bucks. However, the people trying to save money by buying fast food will eventually end up spending more money from the cost of doctor 's visits, medicine, etc.
Fast food chains are a rapidly growing industry. My favorite fast food restaurant is Taco Bell. Schools should not serve fast food because it’s unhealthy, expensive, and takes time.
In addition, in David Zinczenko essay “Don’t Blame the Eater” he indicates unhealthy food places make it easy for kids to get to and are not warning kids about the food they eat. Kids often go for cheaper meals, which usually means going to some fast food place. David Zinczenko said that if you want something healthy, you may have to make a little farther drive for that (463). From 1994 to today childhood cases of Type 2 diabetes went up about 25 percent (Zinczenko 463). When eating at a fast food restaurant people cannot see how much calories they are consuming from their meals. Eating two meals a day from fast food places is not a good idea, because you will consume way more than you should be for calories. If you are trying to watch out for how much calories you have at a fast food place then you should make sure you are considering everything you order. Some places may tell you how many calories is in their burgers or nuggets, but that does not include any sauces you may want (Zinczenko 463-464). At this rate, more people will just become obese and/or have diabetes.
Since 2009 Schools have been improving there healthy choices of food like fresh fruits and salad bars, but those foods take longer to eat (Hellmich). Turning school lunches into an actual sit down meal rather than a feeding frenzy is a good way of improving health (Parker-Pope). Students usually have less than 20 minutes to eat lunch which makes it less likely for them to choose the healthy choice (Elsevier). Kids often like to eat there favorite foods first, not giving them enough time to eat the healthy food (Hellmich). An increase in school lunches could encourage students to eat the healthier choice(5 Elsevier). School nutritionist suggest that students need to have atlas 20 minutes to eat (Hellmich). Research shows that when people consume meals faster they take in more calories because they get hungry sooner (Chen). The shorter lunch periods are starting to lead to more and more obese and overweight kids ( Hellmich). Doctors are saying there are more and more kids getting diabetes and other illnesses due to the lunches and something needs to be done about it
Fast food is exactly how it sounds: food that can be quickly produced for a simple meal. Although they may be satisfactory, they are anything but healthy. Eating fast food is appetizing which is one of the main reasons it is so popular. Not only does it taste good to many, but it is inexpensive, too! America is the number one place for fast food. There are over 160,000 fast food restaurants in the United States and over 50 million Americans are served fast food daily. The frequency of eating fast food is also a problem because according to statisticbrain.com 44 percent of Americans confessed to consuming fast food once per week. What people do not realize is the harm that fast food is doing to their body. Not only is fast food a
Many people are thinking, are school lunches worse than fast food restaurants? Well I’m a here to figure it out. Fast food may sound like a very unhealthy meal, but school lunches have a lot more calories. Most kids and teens would rather have fast food than their school lunch. The amount of calorie range from 750 to 850 calories. Now, fast food calories are much lower, ranging from 254 calories, for just a cheeseburger from McDonald’s. Kids also need 735 calories for lunch, so just a Mcdonald's cheeseburger isn't enough. Even though kids can bring their lunches, they might not wake up early enough to make it. Schools average start time is around, 8:30, and kids also need to wake up and
School lunches are not the epitome of meals in the world. Raising the level of nutritional output would highly increase the healthiness of the student’s body. For example, if a child were to drink only water at school the health benefits would help that student, just by cutting out the sugar and the calorie intake. If schools were to serve grilled chicken instead of fried chicken, the student would not have that extreme carb intake just from the fried part alone. Chicken and vegetables should be the entrée for most school lunches, of course, this does not allow for a great variety of meals, but the healthiness of the students would increase over time and could possibly be the healthiest thing they eat that day, but the only thing that they eat at all. The poverty in Mississippi is abundant, which may mean that children do not get three square meals a day, but maybe only one, which is at school. Therefore, the best way to affect student’s healthiness is by putting good, nutritious, and energizing food on the plate in front of
Although some people don't think that school cafeterias should be required to provide low-fat or vegetarian lunch options to accommodate the eating habits of all students I do. All around the world every where cafeterias are serving hamburger, chips, cookies, cokes, and gatorades some of the most unhealthy things. There is nothing wrong with that, but there should also be healthy choices for those dieting. The reasons that I believe there should be low-fat or vegetarian lunch options, because of people with high blood sugar and diabetes, kids on a strick diet from doctor because they are unhealthy.
School lunches can me disgusting to some students. Students may have allergies that the school lunch has that day. The schools not all the time have what you would want.
Many points can be brought up when debating for or against fast food. Different statement may show the good side, while others show the bad side. Fast food has caused diseases, because, according to cbsnews.com, “Different parts of different cows are blended together for the ground beef in fast food. So, if one cow was diseased, it is very likely that the entire batch will be infected.” This isn't always noticed by the workers, and therefore may cause the people who eat it to become infected, too. Fast food has had outbreaks E. Coli, salmonella, and
Having fast foods at school has two sides a great one and a poor one the nice one is that the kids wouldn’t want to miss school there would probably be one hundred percent of attendance if there was fast foods at school. Another, great reason why school should have fast foods is because the school can make a little more money by having fast foods.
Tons of negative health effects come from eating fast food. First, obesity is a huge problem in America. The major cause of obesity comes from eating too much fast food. The obesity rates have skyrocketed over the years. Over seventy percent of Americans are overweight or obese. An author elaborated more by expressing their facts and arguing that, “Excess weight in children is a significant global public health issue: 10% of school aged children, and a further 22 million children over 5 years old estimated to be overweight or obese. Child obesity rate levels are rising across the globe”(Kelly 1). The concerns Kelly states specifically supports my point that obesity has gotten out of hand in the U.S. People
