As the world progressed into what would then be the modern era, there were many political, economic, and literary movements. Movies such movements was the birth of the romanticism literary genre. The romanticism genre would go on to shaped with them way many modern literary John Rose would develop. Some movie authors who would improve the evolution of the literary world include Washington Irving, James Fenimore Cooper, and Nathaniel Hawthorne. Heavily influenced by the Civil War and the Industrial Revolution, American Romanticism was a genre of its own, unique to even the most progressive literature of the time period.

As the imagination soared, the opportunities were endless. Escapism became more than just a reality; one could escape Life not only physically but mentally as well. Society was separate from real life on a conscious level, not just a subconscious level. American Romanticism literature brought forth the ideals that would potentially shaped our nation to be one of the most progressive nations in the world. While America is industrializing itself to be more advanced than other, older civilizations, primarily European nations, the United States were still heavily influenced by the clutches of England. Recently escaped from under the king of England just a few years earlier, authors of the United States have easy access to European literature. Leading up to the American romanticism movement of 1820 to 1865, European Romanticism was prominent.
