The main idea of this article is about after a 5 year trip, a NASA spacecraft reached Jupiter and will be exploring beyond the surface. This article gave me a bunch of details that support the main idea. One statement that supports the article is,”The solar-powered Juno spacecraft beamed home a message that it was circling Jupiter's poles. Ground controllers at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory and Lockheed Martin erupted in applause at the news.” This statement supports the main idea because when it states that Juno is reaching Jupiter it is referring to the main idea. Another statement that supports the main idea is "Juno, welcome to Jupiter," said mission control commentator Jennifer Delavan of Lockheed Martin, which built Juno.” This statement supports the main idea because when Delavan tells Juno it has reached Jupiter she is mentioning the main idea. One thing I was reminded of was how big space actually is. Planets are billions of light years away from Earth, and there are even other solar systems scientists have not discovered! It is amazing! This article also made me think of how much money the space program spends every year. NASA spends billions of dollars every year on rovers, shuttles, and satellites that will be sent into space. NASA believes every dollar spent is worth exploring the great wonders of space. Lastly, I was reminded of how each and every planet in our solar system is unique in its own way. Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune are all gas giants with rings. While, Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars are all the rocky planets.
