Juvenile Charged with Murder of Two Month Old Infant An eleven year old African American juvenile girl was charged with murder in the state of Ohio for killing a two month old baby girl, Zuri Whitehead. The mothers were friends who had met while working at a medical clinic at Cleveland 's Cuyahoga County jail, and the defendants mother had previously taken care of Whitehead’s other two children without problem or concern. As stated by the article, the baby was staying overnight at the eleven year old girl’s request (name not given due to the age of defendant). At about 9:30pm that night, the juvenile’s mother had called, saying that she was close by and had wanted to take care of Zuri for the night. At around 3am that morning, the mother had fallen asleep on the couch only to be awoken by her daughter holding the badly injured baby and saying that something was wrong. She had taken the baby upstairs, and when the eleven year old girl had come back downstairs, Zuri was found bleeding and her head was badly swollen. The older girl’s mother panicked and called 911. Shortly thereafter, Zuri was flown to a children 's trauma unit in Cleveland where she died during surgery for sever internal injuries. Police who are currently investigating this crime are saying that the eleven year old will be undergoing a psychiatric evaluation. She will remain in custody of the Lake County Juvenile Detention Center in
Individuals over time have fashioned children as being weaker, gullible targets. Children cannot articulate or function on the level as adults this is due to the lack of acquired knowledge and maturity at such ages, but this is to be expected of a child someone that is totally dependent on someone else for basic survival. Because children are dependent on other this give an advantage to the adult caregiver to abuse the child in the capacity in which they choose. Reflecting on a situation in which I am familiar, there was a trial in Chesapeake that involved the death of an infant by the hands of the mother’s boyfriend. The boyfriend brutally beat the child to the point of the child suffering from multiple factors and broken bones after a few days in a medical induced coma the child was removed from all support and passed
It looks like there is a disturbing rise in the number of toddlers accidentally shooting themselves in 2016. While most of the parents of these children have been criminally charged for negligence, these parents are usually African-American. Now some are questioning why it’s easier for white parents to avoid criminal charges for the death of their toddler.
Crimes happen all the time. But when it happens to young children who have no way of defending themselves, and hasn’t lived their life to the fullest, it becomes a whole other thing. Kids are innocent, and nobody ever wants to see them hurt. That is why it was such a big shock, when the crime of the century was a kidnapping and murder of an infant.
On 9-17-17, the unknown male child's grandmother Faye; asked me to look at the child back. The child's left shoulder blade had a scar. The scar appeared to like someone used their two middle fingers and dug into his skin. The child was bleeding and scared. The child's grandfather (unknown) did this allegation. Faye called the child to come to her. The child was afraid to come to the grandmother. Faye stated told the child "I am not going to do anything to you." The child finally came to Faye. The child did not seek medical attention. The child's mother *(Santana) was not at home. It is unknown if Santana knows about this incident. Also, they are rumors going around that the child is being molested. It is unknown by whom. It is unknown if Santana
In this criminal trial, two girls have been arrested and charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide for trying to kill their friend. On May 31, 2014 12 years old Anissa Weier and Morgan Geyser lure their 12-year-old friend Payton Leutner to the woods and stabbed her 19 times before abandoning her in the woods until a bicyclist found her body. Leutner was quickly sent to the hospital and was lucky to survive. As investigator investigated the case, it was told by both Weier and Geyser that the reason is to appease a fictional paranormal character Slender Man. Both Weier and Geyser are trail for adult court rather than juvenile court and if they were found guilty for convicting to kill their friend they will be facing up to 35-65 years in jail within the adult court. Both Anissa Weier and Morgan Geyser exact charges
On May 9th, 2001 Lionel Tate, at the age of fourteen was sentenced to life in prison from a Florida judge. He was charged with the beating that resulted in death of a six-year-old neighbor girl, Tiffany Eunick (Where It All Began: 14-year-old Gets Life 1). Lionel claimed he was performing professional wrestling moves on Tiffany when she stopped breathing (Where It All Began: 14-year-old Gets Life 2). Lionel, along with many others, do not dispute the fact that his actions were the cause of Tiffany's death. The disagreement arises when one looks at the sentence Lionel was given. Did Lionel realize that his actions would result in the death of Tiffany Eunick? Should Lionel or any other juvenile be held responsible in the same manner as an
The defense claimed Caylee Anthony accidently drowned in her pool. Casey Anthony’s remaining actions proves that if this were the case, any concerned mother would have contacted law enforcement immediately. In the event that Caylee Anthony drowned because of Casey Anthony’s neglect. Casey Anthony avoided calling police in fear of being prosecuted on child neglect, abuse charges or manslaughter. Casey Anthony’s failure to call law enforcement proves there is child neglect. If a child is missing it is the caregiver’s responsibility to find out where that child is. Now it is hard to tell why any mother would fail to protect or have a desire to murder her own flesh in blood. There are various psychologically and situational factors that play into these types of
On June 9th 1959, a twelve year old girl by the name of Lynne Harper was walking around her neighbourhood until she encountered a young boy from school, Steven Truscott who gave her a bicycle ride home. Once he dropped her off home and went off, she was abducted, two days later her body was found, she had been raped and strangled. By the reason of several witnesses spotting Steven and Lynne together, the Ontario police wrongly convicted him for committing murder. Steven Truscott was a 14 year old boy, who was popular, athletic, he had no behavioral issues and no criminal past. However the Ontario police did not take time to consider the fact that Steven Truscott was just a normal teenage boy, instead they jumped to conclusions and prosecuted
America’s criminal justice system is on the right path when it pertains to juveniles. Minors are a special case and should be treated as such in the justice system. Every child differs on a case by case basis, but parents usually have more control over their children’s lives than the child does. I do not believe either minor should be sentenced to jail time or charged as adults in the Slenderman case because they were not responsible for their actions. Considering their backgrounds, I do not believe Morgan Geyser or Anissa Weier would voluntarily kill a classmate to be with Slenderman had a sound mind. Our juvenile justice system is attempting to make an example of these girls and it is a mistake. This paper would be different if Payton Leutner
On 05/23/2018 at approximately 2226 hours, I, Deputy A. Martinez Vazquez (117015) responded to 211 Mission Rd., Oviedo, Seminole County, Fl. In reference to a disturbance inside of the residence. While in route to the residence, I was notified that the disturbance turned physical against a mother and daughter. While murderers come in all shapes and sizes, it still comes as a great shock to see a child as the culprit rather than the victim. In the case of Eric Smith, a thirteen-year-old who brutally killed four-year-old Derrick Robie and was tried as an adult and was sentenced to nine years to life in prison. Growing up, Smith was a loner, he didn’t have any friends and was made fun of and was often bullied at school because of his physical appearance. Smith had red hair, freckles, wore thick glasses, and had elongated ears that were protruding. It was also said that Eric Smith suffered physical abuse at home.
The reporting party (RP) disclosed that Taylor Trusheim DOB: 4/3/99 was brought into Sutter/Yuba Behavioral Health for a Triage appointment to assess for possible services. Prior to the appointment Taylor's mother La Vonne Bettencourt received a call from a family member who brought up an incident which occurred when she was 4 years old. The family member mentioned an incident where the child was molested by the daycare provider's husband Bret Baker. Subsequently the mother discussed the information with Taylor who confirmed the molestation. The confirmation alarmed the mother who recalled the last day the child was at the daycare. On that day after pick up 4 year old Taylor, the mother felt uneasy regarding an incident which occurred. According
In 1996, when he was seven weeks old, Etzel Glass died during the night. His mother, Tomeka, had put him to sleep on a sofa in a room with Shirleeree Smith, Etzel’s grandmother. Smith was helping Tomeka raise Etzel and two other children, who were also sleeping in the room with her. There was no indication that she’d been anything but loving toward the kids at any time. When Smith woke up and found Etzel limp, she ran with him to his mother’s room next door, saying she thought he’d fallen off the sofa. At first, the doctors who examined Etzel said he’d died of sudden infant death syndrome—no one’s fault. But the coroner found the cause of death to be shaken-baby syndrome, and prosecutors decided that Shirleeree Smith had done the shaking. This was not a typical shaken-baby case. The standard diagnosis for shaken-baby syndrome includes subdural bleeding, retinal bleeding, and brain swelling. In the cases that are easier to classify, there is also injury to the neck from shaking, or there are fractures, bruises, or cuts. In the harder cases, there are no external signs of injury. Etzel’s case involved only “minimal” subdural hemorrhaging. There was no retinal bleeding and no brain swelling, and no fractures or abrasions. But yet Shirleeree was found guilty by jury of her peers. So she appealed to the State of California of which refused to review the case. So she turned to the federal courts for her appeal. At this point, the Anti-terrorism and Effective Death
The article I read was, Englishtown Teen Finds Mom's Boyfriend Beating Toddler Twins, Police Say by Carly Baldwin talks about two 3-year-old boy and girl and a 16-year-old in Englishtown New Jersey were getting beaten by the mother's boyfriend while she was working because he was babysitting. The boyfriend is known as 24-year-old Christopher McMillian. When 16-year-old came home, he caught the Christopher, was shaking the little 3-year-old boy and hitting his head on the floor while his head was bleeding. When the 16-year-old tried to jump in to save his little brother's life the 16-year-old was punched in the face by Christopher, and the teen boy ended up with a black eye. The little sister had bruises all over her body. The teen managed
