My most significant personal achievement would have to be participating in the Kansas University Medical Center (KUMC) Summer Camp. This camp took place in the summer of 2016 and it was 7 weeks. I loved this camp and I was filled with so much knowledge. I got special insight on how some of the careers in the medicine field consist of such as radiologists, nurses, family physicians, and pediatricians. It was very a meaningful experience that I will never forget and I am proud of myself for being able to partake in the meaningful experience. Due to this program, I had become even more intrigued in the idea that a career in medicine was fit for me. Most people my age aren’t sure what they want to do in the future but I am. I am astonished that
It can be hard to know what one wants to do when they’re older. There are certain things to consider, like a level of interest in the topic, how much information one would already know, how much that will be needed to know, and to take in if this is what one would want to do in their future life. I know for me when I have to think about future plans it can really worry me. I tend to get stressed out, scared, and wanting to avoid the topic entirely, even though in the back of my mind I know I need to stop running away with what I need to currently take care of. It’s a lot like in the tragedy play of Macbeth. There was so much pressure to always be something more. If a right hand man of the king
Attending camp neuro would be extremely helpful for me to continue exploring the healthcare field. I have been interested in the healthcare field ever since I was young because both my aunts were nurses, so when I was little my sister and I always played doctor or nurse with them. I started exploring the medical field by volunteering at the Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis over the summer. I looked forward to volunteering every week because I spent 3 hours holding infants and playing with patients and their siblings. While I was there I was able to observe doctors, nurses and a few physician’s assistants. In addition, I just finished an internship with an Orthopedic surgeon. I valued this opportunity to shadow him for a day in his clinic
I became interested in the STEM camp because I believe this camp will benefit me an enormous deal in the future. Attending the camp will support my future academic goals. In college, I intend to specialize in science, math, and technology. The STEM camp will help develop my educational interests and provide a glimpse into what I can expect from studying the areas of math, science and technology and engineering. I know that my future career will involve knowledge in these subjects and I want to do everything possible to allow myself to be exposed to whatever educational opportunities that can help me develop these skills. I would also like to have an experience at UTRGV because it is one of my possible college choices at this
Many have experienced an encounter as a young child where they are asked what they want to be when they grow up. Answering that question may be easy as a kid because your mind is filled with thoughts of being the unimaginable. As you grow much older, those ideas begin to depart from the mind and you are suddenly more aware of what is and what is not possible in this world. When beginning the most important years of high school, you stop and rethink your career choice numerous times, stressing on who and what you want to be. Many adults such as teachers, counselors, and parents will emphasize the importance of knowing where you want to be in the future during high school, sometimes even middle school. It became imperative that one chose their
All throughout school, students are ask what we want to be when we grow up. Many of us know or have a pretty good idea, but others have no clue what they want to pursue as a career in life, whether it be furthering their education at a university or attending a technical school. There are other students that plan to start work right out of high school. Either way we all have a plan, and the purpose of this paper is to inform you of mine. I personally struggle in making big decisions like deciding what to do with my life, but then I realized I have been asking myself the wrong questions. Instead of asking what I want to be when I grow up, I asked myself what do I want out of life? what are some of my goals that I wish to achieve? This led
During the fall semester of my junior year, my Aerospace Engineering teacher had a sign outside of his door about a program at NASA for high school juniors. Since I was interested in engineering, specifically Aerospace and NASA I decided to apply. So that night at the end of September I came home and filled out the application and wrote the essay and letters to my state representatives. I had told my parents at that point and they were excited and of course hoped I made it. I thought, “There are thousands applying and I won’t make it.”. Little did I know how wrong that thought was. When I received an email from NASA it stated Congratulations and that was when I was like: “WOW!”. I was shocked to say the least, but proud that I had made it into this prestigious program at NASA, that has now changed my life.
The Biggest accomplishment of my life was getting accepted into Tulsa Technical College (TTC). It has become the largest stepping stone of my life and has helped push me forward into my future as a nurse. Tulsa Tech has taught me the skills needed to go out into the medical field, helped me act like an adult and to take pride in my work, and it has offered me the ability to go out and get a nursing job after high school.
The greatest accomplishment in my life thus far has been graduating high school. Academics has always been very significant to me. Neither my Mother or my Father graduated from high school and they have always encouraged me to receive my diploma. with the diploma came pride, being the first person in my family to get a higher education and knowing I'm one step closer to my career.
The accomplishment that I think that sparked the most realization in me is the Atlas program I was accepted into last year. Atlas means Adirondack Teen Leadership and Services. With Atlas it made me learn team building skills and how to work with people I didn´t know. Atlas also made me realize how much I like helping people. When we did our community service project at the nursing home I loved it so much because we were helping by earning money to buy christmas gifts for all the residents, we wrapped the present and baked cookies for all the staff. It was so much fun just to help the nursing home because most people just ignore the people. Atlas pushed me out of my comfort zone it made me learn more leadership skills and not to be as shy as
An accomplishment that set my life forward and taught me multiple traits and allowed my character to develop would have to be when I set out, got a job, and saved up enough money to buy my first car. It was a summer I'll always remember. After my sophomore year of high school I set out during the summer and got a job at Glidden Fence Company. I was nervous not working at all previous to working at Glidden and started wondering whether I had gotten too far ahead of myself. I was assigned to a three man crew and started my career as a fence builder, the crew leader was super nice to me and guided me in every step as I began to learn how to do it myself. So long story short I threw myself into a foreign environment unaware of what the
I would like to attend Materials Camp to learn more about the subjects that I am passionate about. As far back as I can remember, I have loved science and technology. My two favorite areas of science are Geology and Agriculture. Because I was motivated to learn more about these subjects, I researched and sought out professors in these fields to learn more outside of school. In school, I enjoy math, science (Chemistry, Physics, Advanced Biology), and computer classes. I love learning more about anything in the STEM field and enjoy meeting and learning from people who work in all fields of STEM.
One of my biggest accomplishments in my life will be walking across the stage to accept my college degree in front of my husband and children. It will have taken me an additional 16 years to achieve this milestone but the mere fact of being able to do so despite the hardships of being raised by a single mother in Baltimore City is the example that I am proud to show my children. With hard work and persistence, all things are possible.
One of my favorite things to end the school year is to have a summer vacation. Every summer, I attend summer school to get credits to get ahead so I can meet the requirements to graduate. I also went to a bible camp that is at Turkey Hill Ranch. I enjoyed it when I got to go to Six Flags for the first time.
I am a 13 years old 7th grader and really found of ducks as well as drawing them. I was told that the Minnesota Institute for Talented Youth summer camp can offer me the opportunities to explore the new fields by my friend, so I want to apply. I think I will learn more things and try something new in the program.
I was awarded the Student Service Leadership Award, during the baccalaureate ceremony preceding my graduation at Xavier University of Louisiana. This honor is important to me because it solidifies that while attending the university I was able to help make a positive difference on campus and the surrounding community. While I have gained other honors, this is the most important because it is a result of practicing my life goal of serving the underserved. I believe that it is up to every person to leave an
