Kicking A Cat
"The nature of the crime should not automatically mandate a jail sentence if a person is found guilty," said Tina Luongo. (Rebecca) Violence is not acceptable. In this essay, it will display examples and issues that we need to address as people to stop this violence in the world. An adult should go to jail for kicking a cat because it is implying that it's okay on social media, it is becoming more common, and it is abusing an animal.
First of all, an adult should go to jail for kicking a cat because it is implying that it's okay on social media. In the article, "Man Arrested For Kicking Cat, Animal Cruelty Crime", it declares that "[Andre] Robinson admitted to kicking a cat, filming the cruel act, and uploading the violent video to Facebook." This man not only thought it was okay to kick a cat and video it, but also figured that it would be acceptable to upload this video to social media to get attention. "Mr. Robinson's case drew particular wrath because his actions were captured in a video that went viral." (Rebecca) This action, without doubt, went viral. Not only did it go viral, but it may have

Some people believe that, "we could see some innocent people behind bars due to the outcry of activists who would prefer animals didn't exist in the first place" (Amanda) The truth is, there are people who are not being put behind bars that should be. As she said, there are people that would prefer animals didn't even exist, which gives them yet another reason to think this is not a problem. In fact, evidence shows that "many of the most violent criminals began their series of abuse with animals before moving onto people." (Amanda) Us as American citizens try to protect our people and we need to start by controlling the ones that will harm them. An adult should be locked up for kicking a
Animal Cruelty is becoming a very large problem that needs to be taken care of. Animal Cruelty is largely in certain “activities”, such as circuses, dog shows, dog fighting, and even zoos. Although people find this to be entertaining, interesting, and something out of the ordinary, it is still something that is causing harm to these animals and needs to be stopped. These “wild” animals are still animals, animals that have feelings, ones that don’t deserve to be tortured. How would you feel if someone locked you in a cage for the rest of your life, forced you to perform in front of crowds, whacked you when you weren’t doing what you were supposed to, hit you when you messed up?
Imagine that you are an everyday average joe. Just walking down the street, all of a sudden a man bumps into you, no big deal. But then he gets very angry and gives you a solid kick to your stomach. The police are called and it was bad enough you go to court. He receives a bail and no jail time. You can't even walk in that area for the mental fear of what could happen to you. The next day you are reading the news and an incident in your area catches your eye, a college student kicked a cat. You figured that since the man who did a similar thing to you, received no jail time and a quick court session, the same will happen. You thought wrong, there is a social outrage everywhere, people call for jail time and it the number of court hearings goes up and up. But why should someone go to jail for something and not for another because the victim was a cat and not a human? Why is a cat's life worth more to the people than a man's? Someone should not go to jail for kicking a cat because there are bigger things that require the court's full attention. And the fact that things on the internet are taken very far proportion to what they really are, and the fact that the line for things called animal abuse is a very much grayed area.
Animal Cruelty is a problem that many ignore. People are oblivious to these animals and the negligence their owners show. Animal cruelty is an underlying problem in today’s society, and the only way to counteract these problems, is for this generation to do something about it.
The article claims that some sort of registry needs to be established. For instance, an abuser could ignore their restrictions after jail time, go to another state, and easily obtain more animals, since shelters have no notice of their past abuse. Also, abusing animals can be linked to many other crimes, such as crimes involving violence, drugs, and property, domestic violence, sex offenses, or even murder. For example, they discussed how after an investigation, serial killer, Jeffrey Dahmer, was found guilty of abusing animals, which led up to his vicious acts against humans.
Animal abuse is a quiet epidemic that is spreading throughout the world. The amount of animal abuse is growing and we must do something to stop it. Animal abuse is not putting a choke collar on a dog to keep it from biting an individual; it is not killing an animal for food. Animal abuse is the knowing or intentional "(1) tortures or serious overworks [of] an animal"; the "(2) failing unreasonably to provide necessary food, care, or shelter for an animal in his custody; kills, injures, or administers poison to an animal; [or] (6) causes one animal to fight with another" (Title 3). The majority of states in the U.S. classify abusive treatment toward animals as a misdemeanor. A misdemeanor is punished by a fine of
Every 60 seconds an animal is abused. Dogs, cats, horses, and many other types of animals are being neglected and tortured everyday, yet resulting in few and minor consequences for the perpetrators. Animal abuse is prevalent in the United States and has been an ongoing issue since the 1970's, and prior to. Society as a whole has chosen to avoid the facts and arguments about animal cruelty, because to some it is seen as acceptable and typical. It becomes much more frowned upon when people actually see the results of the cruelty, especially in the media.
In an animal lover’s world , killing an animal is a crime. Animals are innocent .In her article “The Truth about Farm Animals” , former farmer Heather Rose explains, “Animals around the U.S are mistreated every day and we don’t even know about it. They are kept in small cages often with so little space that they can't even turn around or lie down comfortably” (Reno NV). People express that our do these things since, people have rights and animals don't. At the point when people say things like that, it makes me so furious, what has this world come to when we say that animals don't have rights. Is it since they can't talk? Or, on the other hand is it since they are not human and we should regard them as we would a cloth doll. We shouldn't treat animals along these lines regardless, there are better approaches to get the meat at that point by killing it at 5-7 weeks old (chicken) or six months(pigs). I believe that killing animals is pure evil , I mean it's despicable , Animals have lives
There are many animals who deal with abuse everyday, and that is not okay. If an animal is neglected or abused the pet will be taken away and the caretaker will be charged $1,500. Animals are very loyal, such as dogs, dogs are one of the most loyal animals you can own. When abused, they don’t know where they went wrong. They only know that you are mad at them. Animals, such as humans, shouldn’t be abused or neglected. Most animals who are abused or neglected are usually abused unintentionally, but the second most are abused on purpose. The people who abuse animals on purpose sometimes deal with mental illnesses, were abused as children, or have a hard time dealing with stress or anger. Animals are just like humans who have been abused. They are usually skittish and shy. People tend to see animals differently than humans, but they are the same in my eyes. For example, if I locked you in my basement, starved, and beat you, I’d be charged with attempted murder and kidnapping. Pets have the same rights as you to live freely, but people don’t see it. You are able to live on your own and take care of yourself, but they
Two large reasons people abuse animals are A) The person experienced abuse or bullying themselves and B) They have it set in their mind because of maybe what they weren’t taught growing up to be mindful of animals. When a person is bullied and abused they tend to find some way to vent and some of them find this venting process in mistreating animals. The other reason, not being taught when growing up, is also common. When someone isn’t taught not to do something, it’s only natural that they don’t know not to do it; they don’t think what they are doing is wrong. So if we want to even slightly reduce animal abuse we need to stop bullying others so that they don’t, in turn, bully animals, and be sure to teach everyone starting at a young age that abusing an animal is cruel and
Many people may not know that animal cruelty has been around for hundreds of years. . In the article "Animal Cruelty Prosecution" published by American Prosecution Research Institute found that, The Puritans of the Massachusetts Bay Colony established “The Body of Liberties” found by the Animal Cruelty Prosecution, in 1641. The Body of Liberties was a document written for the protection of animals from unnecessary pain and suffering. Animal cruelty happens every day whether it is from starving, beating, lack of medical care or proper housing for animals. We are in need of stricter laws to help fight the rights of animals. Animal laws should be more strict on people
We use animals for medical treatment, check safety of products, etc. When we could be testing on people in jail, who have done really bad things We should be doing the tests on them not innocent animals who have done nothing wrong. We are hurting and killing animals every day and we don’t realize it. Animals and people are alike in many ways; they both feel, think, behave, and experience. Thus they deserve the same respect as humans
crimes and can help get criminals off the streets "Reporting, investigating, and prosecuting animal cruelty can help take dangerous criminals off the streets. Police know that in homes where animal abuse is a problem, other issues are often concurrent. Of 36 convicted multiple murderers questioned in one study, 46% admitted committing acts of animal torture as adolescents. " ( Humane Society, 2011). If more people started mistreatment and abuse of animals we could stop a very big chunk of people that could murder and assault others in the future and in the process stop and bring awareness to the neglect, mistreatment, and abuse of the animals we have sitting at home right
Why is it that we as a society condemn the actions of a man against a man but very rarely a man against an animal? I think this question must be understood if we are ever to change the rights animals have. As of yet I don't believe animals have any actual rights. Rather humans have rights that involve animals. If we are to truly allow animals to have rights the same or similar to humans then we must first define what it is that makes us feel as if they are entitled to rights.
Ever thought about why such people abuse animals and how they carry on their lives living with the guilt? According to the research I have read online, many have found that abusing animals will lead to abusing people since this act of violence on animals cooperates with the act of violence on the humans as well. So the real question is, do abusing animals lead to abusing humans? Abusing to animals physically or mentally are very negative actions that people should not do. Every day in the United States animals are beaten, neglected, or forced to struggle for survival. Left in critical conditions with no food or water, these poor animals have little hope as they live out their days to survive in such a harsh world. While some are found and rescued, and given a chance to experience how great life can become; others aren 't so lucky. From actual incidents, brutal people sometimes abused animals by monstrous intensive methods such as putting them in the microwave, throwing them of the balcony, dragging them with cars and etc. As the rate of animal cruelty is increased all over the world, there were many effects of it on these animal abusers as well. What can happen to these type of people is that even children who inflict cruelty on animals often also inflict cruelty on other people especially to other children, and also from my own personal experiences and actual studies, people who commit animals’ cruelty crimes
For many years now the world has seen controversy over the rights of animals and if they think and feel like humans do. Many people see animals as mindless creatures or as food, while others think they have emotions and can feel pain. In other countries animal protection laws are in place that are strictly enforced and seem to work well with the system. In the United States however; some of the animal rights laws are considered to be useless and under-enforced (Animal Legal & Historical Center). More people today are beginning to see that animals should have rights and should be protected by laws and regulations (Animal Legal & Historical Center). Sadly there are many people residing in the United States who don’t take animal rights or protection laws seriously. These people abuse animals in many ways, including food industries that disobey the regulations set in place for the slaughter of animals used for consumption. Luckily for the animals there are people who fight for their rights and the enforcement of laws called animal rights activists.
