Many so called celebrities have just as many haters and they do fans, but that does not stop them from becoming a household name. For example, the Kardashians are a household name across the world. Many people love them, but just as many people love to hate them. Even though, people do not like them it does not stop the family from being one of the most known families in the world. Even if someone has a strong hatred for the family, it does not mean that their name won’t ever come out of their mouth. Oprah Winfrey is a very successful woman. She started her life in a small home that had absolutely no electricity or running water. She came from nothing which made her work so much harder and gave her motivation to be the woman she is today. She was asked what she aspired to be when she grew up and knew that she wanted to be different than all the other girls she was competing against. They wanted to be nurses and teachers, she wanted to be a TV journalist and it just so happens that journalism is the career path she followed as an adult. Oprah fits Maslow’s criteria of self-actualization because she is a selfless person who over the course of life has gained wisdom and insight through all the experiences she has faced both good and bad , allowing her to reach an ideal level of self-wellness.

The reality TV show, Gene Simmons Family Jewels does not depict a typical US family. The reason I say that is because, Simmons rock way of life including extreme wealth is absolutely not ordinary for most Americans. Since they aren’t really reality as they claim, shows like that are fictional show that’s designed to pull in ratings. A usual US family lives mundane lifestyle when compared to Simmons and his family.

There are many different ideas of what a hero is and it has varied throughout history. Today a hero is someone who stands up to the popular power or gives service to helpless people. A hero is simply someone who works at being the best they can as well. In modern day society, some look to Kim Kardashian to be a role model or Bruce Jenner as a symbol of bravery, but the real heroes in modern day society are the servicemen who all the sudden get attention for doing their job in a crisis. People like the New York Fire Department are heroes because of 9/11. The servicemen are a closer match to what heroes looked like through history, but the Kim Kardashian heroes of today present a completely different picture of a hero than history had suggested.
