Ku Klux Klan Epic Failure

Since the Ku Klux Klan, also known as the KKK started several violent scenarios have occured . The KKK was started by a group of confederate war veterans, who felt that black Americans didn't matter. The KKK was a group of anti federalists that was very violent toward black people. The KKK were founded in 1866, in the state of Tennessee. By 1920, the KKK killed over 4 million people nationwide. By the year of 1870, the KKK was spread into almost every southern state in the U.S. Mostly targeting black legislative leaders. Nearly 4000 black women and children were lynched during the civil rights time period. During the time period of 1960, there was a spark in KKK activity due to the Civil Rights Movement (History).

The Ku Klux Klan was formed as a social club by a group of Confederate Army veterans in Pulaski, Tennessee in the winter of 1865-66. The group adopted the name Ku Klux Klan from the Greek word "kyklos," meaning circle, and the English word clan. By 1944 the Ku Klux Klan had lost most of its influence and membership. It was revived during the Civil Rights era and continues today as a small organization that continues to stage demonstrations in favor of white supremacy and fundamentalist Christian theology. The original Ku Klux Klan had deceased during the 1870s as post Civil War Reconstruction was drawing to a close. The organization had been largely responsible saving the South from corrupt outside influences. From 1869-1871 its objective was to destroy reconstruction by murdering the blacks and some whites who were either in Republican politics or educating black children. The Klan started to slowly fade away in 1871 after President Ulysses signed legislation making the Klan illegal. When the first Ku Klux Klan was founded in 1865 in Pulaski, Tennessee they terrorized Republicans to restore white supremacy after reformation when they were at their weakest. They initially formed because most whites in the south condemned southern Republicans as illegitimate and felt justified in doing whatever they could to get rid of them so that they can restore power. Their methods were assassinations of black political leaders and other republicans and threats of violence to drive others out of politics. They weren’t always very successful though, the threats and assassinations caused a sharp backlash and unleashed new federal laws that were a success in terms of reinvigorating the morale of Southern Republicans, enabling blacks to exercise their rights as citizens and restoring overall order.
