In April , 1994, Kurt Cobain was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Cobain had been the lead singer and guitarist of the nineties band , Nirvana, who many credit as the creator of the grunge rock genre. Kurt Cobain’s extremely personal lyrics give a strong look into Cobain’s struggles with his childhood, drugs, and depression, eventually leading to his suicide. Kurt Cobain experienced an extremely troublesome childhood, inspiring many songs in his later life. He was born on February 20th, 1967, joining a working class family in Hoquiam, Washington. His parents and uncle both dabbled in music, and his great uncle even appeared in the 1930’s film King of Jazz. As a result of this exposure, Cobain began playing piano and singing when he was only four years old. Unfortunately his parents went through a divorce only four years later, and he was sent to live with a number of different relatives.
