In my essay we are going to talk about why I think Lady Macbeth is more responsible for the murder of King Duncan. I think the reason she is guilty is because she put her nightwear, she pushed her husband Macbeth to kill him, and because Duncan was more in charge than she was over all of the people.

Due to her ambition to become queen, Lady Macbeth persuades her husband to murder king Duncan.

Ladies and Gentlemen of the court, the evidence shows that Lady Macbeth compelled Macbeth to murder King Duncan and set him down a path of crime and destruction. She is as much to blame as Macbeth. The facts of the case are, Macbeth killed Duncan by his own hand, but he hired assassins to commit the murders of Banquo and Fleance. At the beginning of Lady Macbeth and Macbeth’s marriage the people can see they act as equals, one does not outrank the other. As time progresses her true colors start to seep through onto the surface. Lady Macbeth portrayed herself as power-hungry, she will do anything and everything to deem the family name as dominant and successful.

Lady Macbeth persuades her husband to kill the King for her benefit along with his, but she never would have thought what kind of a man it would turn Macbeth into.

Lady Macbeth is more power hungry and ambitious then Macbeth is. She, through ambition she gives the finial push to Macbeth to kill Duncan the king of Scotland. Her power however, is not driven by the sisters, hers is greed. She wants to be Queen, she wants the power of being Queen. Both Lady Macbeth and Macbeths ambition is tragic flaw. Her ambition drives her to her to go crazy which ultimately drives her to her death. There is an instance where she is sleep walking, eyes open. She goes to her vanity and sits down, she looks at her hands a sees blood. Then she sticks her hand in the water bowl and attempts to wash them. When she pulls them back out the blood did not wash away. Only she can see the blood her maid and doctor see this happening and they just think that she is going crazy. This is only the beginning of her insaneness. Just before her death she vilely reads a letter that Macbeth sent to her, telling her that he was to be King some how. It is her guilt that kills her.

Macbeth’s ambitious ways takes over his whole inner self throughout his time of first wanting to be king. Macbeth was thought to be a great leader and war hero before he was king. Macbeth was hatched an idea by three suspicious witches in whom he had never come in contact with before. They told him that he would one day become King of Scotland. After the witches disappeared, he got to think a lot about what they told him and pondered the words they spoke. Macbeth sends a letter to his wife about his feelings of what he had heard. When Macbeth returned back to his castle his wife wanted to lead him down a dark path and feed his ambition. Macbeth decides he wants to go after the crown after consulting his wife. "I have no spur to prick the sides of my intent, but only vaulting ambition, which o'erleaps itself, and falls on th'other...." Lady Macbeth is not a monster without feelings, however she is tricky and cunning when she influences Macbeth to kill Duncan. Lady Macbeth's ability to influence her husband leads the audience to believe that she is the primary cause for the destruction of Macbeth.

Macbeth tells a story of deceit, betrayal, and a man who, once pushed, would stop at nothing to get what he desired and keep it that way. The murder of King Duncan was not simply just because of Macbeth, as most people would usually believe since he was the one that went ahead with stabbing him. The blame should rightly fall on both Lady Macbeth and the Witches. There are multiple facts to support this statement.

First, is the Movie Macbeth, in the beginning, Macbeth gets confonted by three evil witches that are just bad news. These witches tell Macbeth what he is, “Thane of Cawdor, Thane of Glamis and then, The King herafter” (Casson, 1979). Which tells him he will be the king since the witches got the other two things right. Then Macbeth had to tell the information he got from the witches to his wife. Macbeth didn’t really want to kill King Duncan because he was like father to him, but by telling Lady Macbeth it persuaded Macbeth to kill King Duncan because he and she wanted the crown now. Lady Macbeth hosts a party with the king in her house and in the middle of the night she walks and takes a kitchen knife to stab King Duncan. This makes Malcolm and Donalbain flee to Ireland becuase their fauther, the king was killed. Then later on Macbeth kills his best friend Banquo because he knew to much and knew Macbeth had killed King Duncan, he then kills the wife and family of MacDuff to protect himself from losing the crown.
