Lajos Kosouth: A Hero Or A Hero?

In 1848 Austria agreed to give Hungarian reformists and independent supporters a sovereign Hungarian Ministry and put an end to cruel practices when Lajos Kossuth mobilized them against Austrian control. However, the Austrian government did not keep the agreement, so Kossuth initiated a rebellion for freedom from Austrian rule. After many riots were won the Hungarians made Kossuth their governor and he was now considered a hero by Americans. Although the citizens thought of him as a hero, President Taylor wasn’t so quick to give any aid or even any recognition.
