Winston Leonard Spencer-Churchill was born to Lord Randolph Churchill and Jeanette Jerome on November 30, 1874. Churchill grew up in Dublin, Ireland and attended two schools there, as well. In classes, he proved to be rebellious and independent. He did terribly in school, so he was sent to a boarding school near London, England in April of 1888. This was the start of military career.
He joined the Harrow Rifle Corps only a few weeks after his enrollment. It seemed, at first, that the military path was not good for him. It took him three tries to pass the British Royal Military College exam. In the end, however, he graduated in the top 20 in a class of 130. Churchill had a short career in the military. The fall of Britain’s closest ally, France, stunned the British Empire and threw it into disarray. Through the chaos, Winston Churchill emerged. Churchill would be an inspiring leader who was able to rally the entire nation in times of hardship. Through his leadership, the “British Bulldog” would face the Axis powers and come out victorious, as well as become a public hero for the British people. Yet, immediately after the war, Churchill did not return to the prime minister seat because of a shocking defeat in his re-election, despite his immense reputation he gained from the war. Though lauded by the British population for his prowess as a wartime leader, Churchill’s conservative politics were out of touch with a population ready for post-war relief and led to his defeat in the 1945 election.
Jack Churchill was born in Hong Kong on September 16, 1906. Along with his military fame, he was a model and a movie actor due to his skills with the longbow. In 1926, Churchill was commissioned to the British Manchester Regiment. After just 10 years, he retired from the military in 1936.
Winston Churchill led a very exciting and hard young life. He became a soldier and a journalist around age twenty and started traveling around the British Empire (“Winston Churchill Biography”). Morgan was raised in New York and went to the Springfield College of the YMCA. In 1895, he became the director of physical education at the YMCA in Holyoke, Massachusetts. William Morgan invented volleyball while looking for a less violent sport for his older members of the YMCA. (Strength and Power for Volleyball).
But Winston started off first at St. George’s School, Ascot. Once he finished his time at St. George’s School, he headed off to Mrs.Thompson’s Preparatory School. After his prep school, Winston enrolled in Harrow School. Harrow is where Winston started struggling with his academics. It is said that,“He was not thought of as a good student,” (“The Life of Winston Churchill”).
Even after all of the slip-ups and hesitations along the way here we stand looking at one of the greatest world leaders of all time today the iconic, almost heroic, Winston Churchill. As a child Mr. Churchill leads a normal life with his father and caretakers he becomes old enough to join the military and does so almost immediately so that he can obtain acknowledgement and respect from his very own father, but he fails the test to get into the Royal Military Academy thrice before acquiring his spot in the aforementioned academy. Dr. Percy Spencer, He was born on July 19, 1894 in Howland, Maine, his father died when Spencer was very young when his mother also left his aunt and uncle raised him. He discovered a local paper mill was going to start using electricity. He started learning as much as possible about it, he was one of thre people hired to install electricity in the plant. At the age of 18, Spencer joined the U.S navy, he was interested in wireless communications. While with the navy he made himself an expert on radio technology. For example, "I just taught myself while I was standing watch at night" he also learned calculus, trigonometry, chemistry and physics, this shows how smart he really was. By 1939, Spencer became one of the worlds leading experts in radar tube design. He was working at Raytheon, a contractor for the united states department of defense. Spencer managed to help Raytheon win a government contract to develop and produce combat radar equipment for M.I.T.s Radiation Laboratory. This project became the military's second highest priority during World War II. Churchill attributes his entrance the military to his father’s noticing his childhood love of toy soldiers and the perception that he was a poor student.
