The Renaissance man that I choose was Leonardo Da Vinci. I choose him because I wanted to learn more about what he did as a child and what inspired him to be an artist. Everyone should know The Mona Lisa was created by Leonardo Da Vinci but he also created The Last Supper. Those two paintings were two of many things that he accomplished in his life. When he was a child, his father gave him the name, Leonardo di ser piero da Vinci. His name meant Leonardo, son of (Mes)ser Piero from Vinci. Leonardo was known as “II Florence” because he lived near Florence and was loved as an artist, inventor, and a thinker. Andrea del Verrocchio saw Leonardo’s talent and started to train and help him improve his artwork. Leonardo was always happy as each day went by and his art was always getting better. Leonardo da Vinci had created many different types of artwork like The Mona Lisa, The Last Supper, Virgin of the Rocks, and Lady with an Emine. When doing art, he likes using pastels unless he is making a sculpture. He loved each sketch and finished project, even if he sometimes failed. Pastel was Leonardo’s favorite and only way of making art, nothing made him feel better than a job well done. Leonardo da Vinci made The Mona Lisa. It is unknown how she got her name but the woman’s name wasn’t really Mona Lisa, her real name was La Giaconda. It is also unknown when the painting was made but some people think that it was 1503-1506. Leonardo made the Mona Lisa because he looked at La Giaconda as his muse. Like most of his artwork The Mona Lisa was made with oil pastels. The Mona Lisa is located in Louvre, Paris with many other paintings that Leonardo made.
