In the first two paragraphs of Sullivan Ballou’s letter to his wife, he talks about the seriousness of the situation and how determined he is to follow through on the task he has set for himself. In the letter, Sullivan Ballou writes, “Lest I should not be able to write again…and it may be of some conflict and death to me” (paragraph 1). This quote shows the seriousness and the severity of the situation, and that it could be a life-threatening situation. However, Sullivan Ballou still does what it takes to complete his job and is determined to follow through. In paragraph 3 Sullivan Ballou writes, “And I am willing-perfectly willing- to lay down all my joys in this life, to help maintain this government, and to pay that debt.” This shows that Sullivan Ballou is determined to do whatever it takes to help maintain the government even though it can cost him his life and all of the joys of his life. After the first two paragraphs of Sullivan Ballou’s letter, he transitions to the third paragraph where he changes the subject to his feelings for his wife Sarah. Sullivan Ballou starts paragraph 4 by writing her name at the beginning of the sentence to signify that he has stopped talking about the war and has now moved on to express his feeling and love to Sarah.
It’s the middle of the winter of 2009 and my family and I are on our way to my very first meeting with the Three Rivers 4H Club. I am incredibly unsure about what 4H is, in fact, I had never even heard of 4H before my mother presented the idea to me in the spring of 2009. My mother brought the idea to me because I was tired of lying around all summer and I needed something to do. To fix this dilemma I was having, she did a little bit of research on the Internet for summer activities and programs around Carlisle and the state. That’s when my mother stumbled across an Iowa State University link for something called 4H. After she and I sat down and talked about 4H I found out that I loved the idea of all 4H is and what it does.
This letter is not written to say that Laquan King is perfect; “none of us are perfect”; it is of prayer and faith that it is accepted with an open heart. I’m aware of his current unfortunate situation. However, I’m writing this letter to express my experiences with Laquan; who have always been responsible, respectful and caring towards me.
There was once a woman from a time long ago named Hedy Lamar, she came up with the idea of radio waves, jumping to direct a torpedo to its target without it being seen on radars. She was shut down by everyone because she was a girl and couldn't invent anything. She gave her idea, to the navy and they created wifi years after her death. She never got any credit for inventing wifi, and I thank Hedy Lamar because wifi changed my life.
It is unfortunate that we will be unable to meet on April 8th. Will you be in the states on April 5th and if so could we possibly meet on April 5th instead of April 8th? If no, April 8th is fine by me, and I will take the NJ transit train from Newark to Princeton.Kind regards,
and now we see it in something like the Ferguson shooting. Yet what about the ones who are supposed to protect the law, it seems they alway either get away with no penalty or have a very light sentence. The justice system seems that it has been tested on many occasions and still is broken until something can be done to it. The justice system might be fixed in the future in which all people will finally be treated equally by the law despite their
4-H is the biggest educational program for kids in the United States. It is an organization for the for the wholeness of youth. The movement of 4-H beginning started in the United States in a lot of places at the same time. However, A.B. Graham officially created it in January of 1902 in Clark County, Iowa. This was considered the birth of 4-H. In 1902, Graham started clubs similar to ours today. In his clubs, they worked on projects with vegetables, growing corn, flowers, and soil testing. Back then, the clubs used to be separated by boys and girls. The 4-H motto is “To Make the Best Better” and the slogan is “Learn By Doing.” 4-H is a lot of fun and many people do it.
Hmmmm. Now I'm stumped, Not sure you saw the "It's time end Folsom's career politicians" portion of my campaign. I ran for city council as the "fresh face" to end politics as usual. I'll introduce myself to you. I'm Roger Gaylord, 23 year Folsom resident. graduate of Folsom High, entrepreneur, father of two and have dedicated a lot of time and personal money (I'm self funded) taking on the status quo in Folsom. I'm against politics as usual, out side influences, bought and paid for council members and the city mayor ant rotation of council seats. I live by the motto "absolute power corrupts absolutely." I'm always available for coffee or a pint to discuss anything Folsom. Feel free to run through my page to get real idea of how I'm not the
During Dimmesdale's sermon, Hester is taken from her piteous thoughts when Dimmesdale calls out for her and Pearl to join him on the scaffold. Hester knows that her worst fear is about to come true as she approaches the scaffold "slowly, as if impelled by inevitable fate, and against her strongest will" (Hawthorne 282). Hester did not want to go on to the scaffold because she never wanted to relive that nightmare again, but she knew that Dimmesdale needed her strength, yet all of Hester’s power and pride were drained. But because Hester loved Dimmesdale so, she stood at Dimmesdale's side, as he confessed his sin to the townspeople (Hawthorne 283). After confessing his sin, all was done for Dimmesdale, and he begins to sink to the floor, as
My 4-H experience has helped me immensely in my high school coursework, and has greatly influenced my involvement in high school activities. First, 4-H has taught me to work hard. This hard work in the classroom has led me to maintain a very high GPA, and give me honors as an Academic All-State Football Player for the state of Iowa. 4-H has taught me to manage my time wisely, and to be a leader in my activities. As I am involved in many activities, hold down a job on a 1,000 sow farrowing unit, and support many more activities at the school, I have had to discover a way to manage my time that allows me to be successful at each of those activities. While being heavily involved in activities at the high school level, I plan to be just as involved
The letter which Johannes received from Karolina had been written shortly after their arrival in Cincinnati, Ohio where they were staying with her cousin’s family. They had met him, his wife and son at the wharf when their ship docked in New York City from Antwerp. The family had been excited to see familiar faces in the crowds waiting for the ship. After meeting with the New York City authorities and receiving permission to leave their ship, the family encountered several adventures in New York City even meeting several former countrymen from Baden and other New York City’s prominent citizens.
I think that the letter that you have writing back to Ms. Smith does need some work before it is sent to her. I understand the point that you are trying to make in this letter but I do not feel that you brought about the most appropriate facts when it comes to the letter. In the first paragraph of the letter you talk say “Scientific tests have shown that dilute tank-mix solutions sprayed on customer’s laws are rated “practically nontoxic” which means that they have a toxicity rating equal to or lower than such common household products as cooking oils, modeling clay, and some baby creams.” The problem with this statement is the fact that you are not providing a reliable source for this scientific test. You just said a scientific test and that is not providing a creditable source
I have been given the pleasure to write a letter of recommendation for Eagle Scout candidate Ethan Lewis. I have know Ethan all of his life. Both in and out of scouts he lives by the Scout Oath and Law. He has served on the Resica Falls Scout Reservation camp staff for the past 4 year. While on staff he has taught countless scouts the skills that are needed as well as the wilderness survival and search and rescue merit badges. Ethan's service dose not just stop there. He has also spent the past 3 years as high school's head tech crew leader. As part of the teach crew he is responsible for planning and setting up the lights for each show. Along with that he is responsible for teaching the other members of the teach crew how to successfully do
Throughout the years, I have had many great opportunities to grow as a person and as a leader through 4-H. My ten years of involvement in the Columbia County 4-H Project has had an enormous impact on my life. It taught me how to be a better leader. It introduced me to some great people and some wonderful leadership positions. I gained skills in the project, such as horsemanship, but more importantly, I grew as a person. If it wasn't for the things I learned and the people I met in 4-H, I would not be the person I am today. The many activities I have participated in through 4-H have given me opportunities to grow as a student, athlete, horseman, and leader. The skills that I have gained through 4-H will stay with me for the rest of my life,
Alyce and I have agreed upon a process up until my departure. All requests for insurance will have her name attached for submission instead of mine. Thus, I do not believe that you would need to gain access to my P drive, email, and any other files located on my desktop. We are indicating to the medical staff that updated insurances should now go to Alyce.
