“No man knows the value of innocence and integrity but he who has lost them” In this quotation, The unknown writer explains that innocence has such great value and no man knows the importance of it except those who has lost them. In To Kill a Mockingbird, By Harper Lee, There are three different characters that are portrayed as Mockingbirds. In To Kill a Mockingbird, The Mockingbird represents Loss of innocence. Three characters that are Mockingbirds are Jem finch, Boo radley, and Tom Robinson. First of all, Loss of innocence is shown by Jem in Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird. Secondly, Boo Radley show’s Loss of innocence from all the rumours around Maycomb About him. “‘He died years ago and they stuffed him up the chimney.”’(Lee.48) Jem is talking to Miss Maudie. Boo Radley has lost his innocence from all the false rumours. Third, Boo Radley show loss of innocence from his father when Boo was locked up when he was a teenager and all his privileges were taken away from him. Miss Maudie explains that Boo was a Polite Child when he was young. “‘ He always spoke to me nicely, no matter what folks said he did.”’ then she continues “‘ Spoke as nicely as he knew how.”’(Lee.51). Miss Maudie gies on to explain that Boo’s father was a foot washing baptist. She says that “‘But sometimes the bible in the hand of one man is worse than a whiskey bottle in the hand of-oh, of your father”’. (Lee.50) Miss Maudie means that Boo’s dad takes the Bible literally and strictly follows it. He is a harsh father. Third, Tom robinson shows innocence as well as loss of innocence.
