Fate (Feyt) Noun: something that unavoidably befalls a person; fortune; lot. William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet has many themes that occur throughout the entire play. There’s many themes from fate to love to hatred among people. I’ll be discussing the fate of Romeo and Juliet in William Shakespeare’s play. In the beginning of the play it says “a pair of star-cross’d lovers take their life” so imminently we know the fate of Romeo and Juliet. In Act 1, Scene 2 Romeo and Benvolio go to the Capulets house and completely by chance Romeo meets one of the Capulets servants who needs help reading the guest list. Romeo claims it’s his “fortune” to read. The servant then invites Romeo into the house as long as he isn’t a Montague. As fate would have it Romeo denies being a Montague and joys in on the fun where he meets Juliet. Act 2, Scene 1 Romeo doesn’t want to go home he decides to find Juliet. The balcony scene...Romeo compares Juliet to the morning sun, far more beautiful that the moon. In Act 3, Scene 1 Mercutio had be mortally wounded, Benvolio informs Romeo that Mercutio has died and Romeo responds with “This day’s black fate on more days doth depend; This but begins the woe others must end.” Act 3, Scene 2, Romeo said he would avenge the death of Mercutio so he did so by killing Tybalt. Since Romeo and Juliet’s love is all about fate taking control, Romeo was banished. Act 3, Scene 3, Romeo was hiding in Friar Laurence’s cell when he heard he had been banished. Romeo spends the night with Juliet but has to leave before dawn to flee Verona for Mantua. Act 3, Scene 4, Capulet, Lady Capulet, and Paris have been discussing Juliet and the tragedy of Tybalt’s death. The Capulets want Paris to marry Juliet Thursday, but as fate would have it Juliet’s already married to Romeo but they don’t that. Act 4, Scene 1, Paris is talking with Father Laurence to prepare for the wedding Thursday. Friar Laurence doesn’t agree with any of it he says it’s happening to fast but he know Juliet is already married but can’t say a word yet. Friar Laurence comes up with a plan that he thinks will work so her and Romeo can be together. He gives Juliet a potion that will make her sleep a deep sleep for forty-two hours. It’ll
“Love makes you do crazy things, insane things. Things in a million years you never thought you’d see yourself do.”
Montague's son Romeo in the book Romeo and Juliet written by Shakespeare in the 1500’s, supports the audience with many of his strengths and weaknesses. In this story, two well-known families of Verona, the Montagues, and Capulets are in a feud against each other; however, the son of the Montague family, Romeo, and the daughter of the Capulet family, Juliet fall in love at first sight at a Capulet party. Even though Romeo is a Montague, his personality and his calm behavior persuades Capulet to let him stay at the party. After he meets Juliet, Romeo asks the friar to marry them both; even though, the friar was concerned about Romeo because of his instantly changed and unthought decisions he lets them marry each other secretly. Romeo’s commendable behavior proves a strength and his uncontrollable emotions show his weakness.
Love is dark and bright, and it is also depressing and happy. A young boy named Romeo has a major change in his idea of love. Romeo starts out in love with a girl, Rosaline, but it is depressing for Romeo, because she does not return his love. But right when Romeo sets eyes on a young girl named Juliet, he forgets about Rosaline, and he is in love and filled with joy that Juliet loves him back. In William Shakespeare’s The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, the concept of love that Shakespeare shows at the beginning of the play is that love is heart breaking, sad, depressing, and longing for one that does not love back. But then there is a sudden break with the past, and Shakespeare shows us that true love is instant,
Love is something everyone feels, and is different for everyone. It can make people do things that they could never see themselves doing. It impacts everyone in their day to day lives. In Shakespeare’s play, Romeo and Juliet, love is shown in a variety of ways and can make people do crazy things. Love can be friendly, forced, or romantic.
When telling the tragic, but beloved story of Romeo and Juliet from one of William Shakespeare’s many plays there are several characters in the story that could possibly be held responsible for the star-crossed lovers deaths. Three of those many characters should stand out more than others to blame for the beloved main characters deaths. These three characters are the Feud, Lady Capulet, and Fate. The Feud is one choice to blame because it it the cause of many other conflicts that take place in the story. While Lady Capulet does not cause as many conflicts as the Feud she does present one main problem to Juliet by pressuring her to get married to Paris as soon as possible. Lastly Fate is used many times in the play to explain why Romeo and
The emotion of love is an incredibly complex feeling, as displayed in Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare.
In the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, two “star-crossed” lovers, Romeo and Juliet, make bad decisions that end in death. One of the most famous scenes in history, Romeo and Juliet make a decision that sets the course for the rest of the play. Many people agree that the death of Romeo and Juliet were written in the stars. However, the decisions Romeo and Juliet made led them to their tragic demise.
Have you ever felt an extremely strong crush on someone to the point where you think you’re in love… only to fast forward a year you’re wondering what attractive qualities you saw in that person? “Eros” is an ancient Greek word for love at first sight, or love by looks. The famous play Romeo and Juliet goes forward in time by revealing the dangerous issue of “Eros” love that even modern-day teenagers face. Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet is a tragic story about a young man and woman who fall in love by appearance and eventually commit suicide over each other’s death. The danger of Eros can be seen best through Romeo with what he thinks, says, and does.
Romeo and Juliet ended tragically because of the “star-crossed” lovers’ foolish, impulsive decisions. There are many choices made by Romeo and Juliet that affected their lives. In Act 1 Scene 2, Romeo made the choice to go the Capulet party he wasn’t invited too. The Capulet’s servant, frantic and confused, asks for Romeo to read the letter instructing him who to invite. The servant then says: “Now I’ll tell you without asking.
Once love is found, any obstacle presented will neither diminish nor terminate that love, even when tragedy strikes with the loss of a loved one. Tybalt, the cousin of Juliet is one of the Capulet’s that despises the Montague’s and he will do anything in his power to kill them all, and once he confronted Romeo, he met his fate and died by Romeo’s sword. The Prince arrived to the scene and said “Romeo slew him, he slew Mercutio” (III.i.181), him referring to Tybalt, and once realized, he banished Romeo out of the city. Once Juliet discovered the truth about Tybalt’s death and Romeo’s banishment she said in grief “Romeo is banished- to speak that word is father, mother, Tybalt, Romeo, Juliet, all slain, all dead- Romeo is banished” (III.ii.122-124). Her heartache for Romeo’s banishment more than her cousin Tybalt’s death shows that he is her life, her world, and her breath, and without him she would be nothing and life as she knows is would end, even through tragedy and anguish.
Love can prove a strong and intense affection towards another person, however teens contain no experience whatsoever, therefore their 'love' proves merely lust. Romeo and Juliet presents a tragic love story, where two young teens fall in love, from opposing families, which results in both of their deaths. In the play, Romeo and Juliet, William Shakespeare, uses the repetition of beauty in order to develop a motif of superficial love. The use of this motif suggests that William Shakespeare looks to present the audience that physical attraction should not remain wholly necessary for romantic love.
Emotions Through Love The story of two young lovers articulates as they form an alliance through the hatred of their families. In one of Shakespeare's tragedies, Romeo and Juliet fall forsakenly in love. The interminable feud between the Capulets and Montagues cause the relationship of the two lovers to be forbidden. Their love extends as Tybalt dies and Romeo is banished. Through Shakespeare's usage of punctuations and reiteration of sentence phrases in Juliet's speech “Shall I speak ill”, in Act 3 Scene 2, he displays that she is conflicted on whether to be in resentment or to be exuberant.
William Shakespeare uses a range of techniques to convey the theme of love in Romeo and Juliet. Romeo and Juliet is play about the tragedy of a couple desperately in love and want to marry, however, their parents forbid it as they are both from enemy families. Romeo is a Montague and the Juliet is a Capulet. Juliet’s parents wants her to marry someone of their choosing instead, in which Juliet did not truly love, and they would disown her if she were to not do so.
Shakespeare is known for his famous quotes. Whether it’s “to be or not to be..” or “a rose by any other name..”, his quotes leave a lasting impact on us, the readers. The quote that had the biggest impact on me personally was, “Is love a tender thing? Is it too rough, / Too rude, too boist’rous, and pricks like thorn” (Romeo, 1.4.25-26). This quote is full of imagery and symbolism and it gets the imagination pumping.
A story that can stand the test of time such as Romeo and Juliet and it’s not just because shakespeare wrote it. The reason this story stays one of the best stories of all time is because it relates to the problems of society. Which means it typically can relate to almost anyone that reads it. Given in our human nature, having something in common usually draws us in.
