In the stories we will be comparing both females which are the main characters of the stories. The Story of Lust and The Story of an Hour are both stories in which we follow female leads, and as the story unfolds we begin to see how the females are affected by the male characters in the stories. The stories are different in many ways, but over time we see how the female characters are affected by the male characters and we see the deterioration of the two main characters. As the stories progress we also begin to notice how the women experience and lose freedom. In the story Lust, Minot uses a nameless character as opposed to The Story of an Hour in which Chopin uses Louise Mallard to convey the story. The two stories take place in two very different times for women. In the different Eras the mindset both women had were very different but they had some similarities and many differences. Minot wrote the story Lust and set the story to take place in the 1960’s during the big sexual revolution that took place. As previously stated we follow a nameless seventeen year old girl as she enters this era of sexuality. This nameless woman comes from a privileged family and has no real struggle. In the time Era the story took place women had many freedoms, but the main character in lust didn’t really have freedom. The nameless character had the idea that she had the freedom to do whatever she wanted, in a sense that is correct but the fact is that she was a product of the society in
