For as long as I could remember, I was a very imaginative child. My creativity first started growing into many different areas, however, it ended up blossoming in one area in particular - Interior Design. Over time, my passion for design grew, and continues to grow more and more each day and as a result, I have chosen to pursue a career as a Interior Designer through Ryerson’s Interior Design program. I would be an excellent student to have admitted into your program as my participation in extracurriculars and my academic performance prove myself to be a committed, determined, and hardworking student who will use the skills and abilities I have learned to its fullest potential within your program. To begin with, my commitment and immense effort can be seen in my academics. I have so far been an Honour’s student for three consecutive years with an overall average of 91%. This year, I have …show more content…
I currently hold the position of secretary and treasurer for Mac In Action - Sir John A. Macdonald’s student run philanthropy council that provides students with many volunteer opportunities. One such volunteer experience I was involved with was my experience with Gift Wrap for Epilepsy, in which I consider an invaluable one. From it, I have developed exceptional interpersonal and problem solving skills. The work atmosphere was very fast-paced, however, from this I have additionally increased my dexterity in order to work more efficiently. Working in a stressful environment with customers watching me wrap their gift placed me under a great deal of pressure and made my heart beat like a drum. When I was faced with conflict, I demonstrated immense patience and optimism, resulting in all my customers leaving satisfied. Studio life will be stressful, however, from this, I will be able to face the frustrations and problems that will occur with a positive
My academic achievements are proof of my hard work, dedication and exemplary character. By having a G.P.A of 3.89 and 4.0 in 6th and 7th grade, respectively,

The personal statement is very important to applicants who intend to be admitted to an undergraduate or graduate school. The role of a personal statement is to make applicants be different from other applicants. It mainly serves the purposes of persuading the admission committee of applicants’ great passion for the study field, explaining their experience that shaped their personality, demonstrating their longtime desire and commitment for the degree, and showing their life goals. What the admission committee is looking for in a personal statement varies from school to school, major to major. Art and Design is a unique program requiring its prospective students to be different in every aspect. The Art and Design Admission Committee is looking for a student who has creative potential in all respects. Hence, for those who want to apply to the School of Art and Design, they should understand how to present their stories, experiences, practice, goals, philosophy, inspirations, and aspirations in a creative way.
Throughout my life, I have been a sedulous and efficient worker. I have earned these qualities with my difficult courses in school and my involvement in FBLA. My difficult course load and involvement in FBLA has given me the qualities sought out by NHS: scholarship, leadership, service, and character.
My academic accomplishments are a direct result of my dedication to school. I make sure to work hard and put in 100% effort into each assignment I get. I strive to find the perfect balance between challenging myself and retaining a maintainable level of course work. I am proud to say of my completed credits I have earned all A’s. Not only do I take pride in my grades, but I genuinely enjoy expanding my knowledge. Outside of class, I take it upon myself to learn new things in my spare time. I would love to broaden my devotion to school by helping other students achieve the same.
Interwoven into my life, effectively making myself who I am today, are a series of uncountable elements and details, among which, and perhaps most importantly, include the four pillars of the National Honor Society: scholarship, leadership, character, and service. Each of these characteristics of a member of the NHS are ones that I proudly exhibit each day of my life and hope to continue to uphold for as long as I may live. Scholarship, the commitment to learning that one shows at school and in life, is one that can only be achieved by spending the necessary time in the expedition for knowledge and understanding in the world, which only can be attained by commitment, dedication, and exertion in the completion of work that is always to the best of one’s ability. I believe that I demonstrate the attribute of scholarship most fully in my daily life at school, for I always put forth my best work and spend the best amount of time in research and labor, regardless of whether my work will be graded or not.
By achieving the top GCSE grades at my comprehensive school in 2015, I was able to enrol into the Royal Grammar School, where I have continued to demonstrate my motivation and resilience by taking up roles, such as Head of Finance for the Rotary Interact Club, Head of Economics student leader, and Founding President of the RGS Sixth Form charity fundraising team, which has raised thousands of pounds for local charities
Throughout my schooling, I have worked to great lengths to maintain a GPA that exceeds 3.75 and qualifies me for the National Honors Society. My performance in school is my priority
I am honored to be a candidate for the National Junior Honor Society. This organization means a lot to me. In elementary school, I hadn’t really put much effort into my work because I didn’t know that it would make such a difference in my life. However, in the fourth grade, I realized that what I did would make an impact on the rest of my education. If I didn’t do well then, I wouldn’t make it into honor classes or AP classes, meaning I couldn’t get the higher education I desired. I then began to work harder and my determination increased. My hard work paid off because during my sixth grade graduation, I was one of two students that received the gold for the President’s Education Awards Program (PEAP). Knowing that all the effort was
First off, one characteristic that is important to both this organization and myself is scholarship. Although, it may seem easy to make and maintain passing grades, it is the added dedication that I possess that I hope you’ll be able to see. For example, during my freshman year of high school I was able to have a GPA of 3.8. Though most people would be proud of having this GPA I was not, I knew that I could do better and I was determined to make sure that I did. Therefore,
From a very young age I knew I would have to work twice as hard if not more than the average student. I was learning and being taught in a language different from the one that was being spoken at home. I soon, through hard work and commitment, overcame this barrier. I’ve received recognitions and award that reflect this such as, academic distinction, excellence in academics, and the leadership award from my academy. I’ve also received a recognition for leadership and excellence in the fields of academics and diversity from Wichita State University, where I plan on furthering my education as an accounting major.
My interest in interior design commenced in middle school during a project on various careers. Since then, it has become an ever-developing passion. Interior design has manifested itself into my daily thoughts. I constantly look at my surroundings, wondering what I could do to change the room into a more practical space. This fuels my thirst for further knowledge. The only way to gain this knowledge is to get a degree and learn through practical application. My educational and professional career objectives are to obtain a bachelor of fine arts in interior design and to succeed as a commercial interior designer.
I gravitated towards The New School Parsons because of their ability to see the future of art and design. Parsons’s initiative to teach students how to continually innovate themselves and adjust to the world’s constant evolution inspired me. I appreciate The New School’s want to teach as well as help students shift their mindsets, allowing them to be more open-minded within their education. As a student I consider myself to be a freethinker, believing in formulating my own opinions. Expressing my views and inquires in a setting such as Parsons which would accept my unique approaches to new ideas would allow me to feel more comfortable within their community. Joining the diverse and inquisitive community of like minded people I believe would encourage my creativity, allowing my perception on the world to adjust. I believe that I am a good fit for a student at The New School because I share
Cooperating with colleagues enabled me to improve my team-working. On Fridays I volunteer at a nursing home. Here, I spend my time assisting with serving meals and regularly conversing with the residents. This experience is teaching me valuable skills; preparing myself for the stark actualities of physical aging, key to successful care for our aging population. I work at KUMON to develop children’s literacy and numeracy skills.
