Episode V ended on a huge cliffhanger with not just the reveal but also Han Solo captured and in carbonite and the Empire having hit the rebellion hard. By delaying the resolution of the cliffhanger, we are more invested in the story than at any other point of time when Return of the Jedi is viewed.
Machete order is the correct order to watch Star Wars Movies
The Machete Order, gives the best Star Wars experience as the saga starts with Episode IV, establishing the Star Wars universe and ending with the most rewarding ending in Episode VI. This order makes the epic saga a story of two characters, Luke and Anakin. Two movies of Luke's tale, two movies of Anakin's story and final single film that brings both stories into one and giving a proper closure to the saga.
The cliffhanger ending of The Empire Strikes Back creates a lot of tension, and the original trilogy act as an framing device for the prequel trilogy. The relationship between Anakin and Padme or Obi Wan and Anakin does not have the weirdness due to the convoluted story lines and age gaps from Episode
There’s no doubt that Star Wars is one of the most impactful films of all time, having changed the movie-making game ever since it premiered in 1977. It quickly became a global phenomenon and has accumulated some of the most passionate fans in the universe. Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope is a great example to use in order to illustrate the properties discussed throughout the course. In this paper, I will analyze the entire movie. To begin, I will start by giving some basic information about the motion picture, such as the director and type of film. Next, I will provide a brief summary of the film.
I remember I watched the Revenge of the Sith for the first time in 2005. I grew up watching the original trilogy with my dad, who has always been a fan of Star Wars. We weren’t overly fond of the prequel series, but he still brought the movie home from Blockbuster and turned it on for all of us to watch. Anakin Skywalker, the protagonist, speaks to his wife for the first time since he turned over to the dark side. “I don’t want to lose you the way I lost my mother. I am becoming more powerful than any Jedi has ever dreamed of, and I’m doing it for you—to protect you…Don’t you see? We don’t have to run away anymore. I have brought peace to the Republic. I am more powerful than the Chancellor. I can overthrow him and together you and I can rule
One of the many appeals of Star Wars is its extensive cast of unique characters. Every character is written creatively; even the one-off minor characters have a special flair to them. The interactions between these characters are what drive the story and create this vast universe. Ultimately, Luke Skywalker is the main character of the original Star Wars trilogy. The three films tell his story and journey of becoming a Jedi Knight. Starting out as a naive young boy, throughout the course of the films Luke Skywalker matures into a full fledged Jedi Knight who is tasked with defeating the Empire.
Episode IV was set during a time of war between the Rebellion, the good side, and the Empire, which is considered the evil side. The science fiction story is about a young man, Luke Skywalker, who travels into space to fight against the Empire. Luke is from the planet Tatooine, a desert, where he farms water with his uncle. Luke’s uncle buys two droids, R2D2 and C3PO, who happen to have been involved in the war and worked for the rebellion. Luke discovers a recording in one of the droids of Princess Leia saying she needed help, and that sparks the beginning of his journey. He meets Ben, also known as Obi-Wan Kenobi, who becomes his mentor, and teaches him how to use “the force”. In Star Wars, “the force” is a magical way for people to control things using their unconscious minds. Luke sets out on a journey into space to rescue the princess and join the Rebellion in the war effort. Luke and Obi-Wan meet Han solo, a pilot, and ask him to take them into space. They plan to go to Alderaan, Princess Leia’s home planet; however, they are unintentionally sucked into the Death Star, the spacecraft and weapon of the Empire. They find out that Princess Leia is being held in the Death Star, and they plan to help her escape. While Han and Luke try to help Leia, Obi-Wan is fighting Darth Vader, the evil leader of the Empire. Unfortunately, Obi-Wan is killed by Darth Vader; although, Luke, Han and Leia escape the Death Star. They go to a Rebellion headquarter and find the weak spot of the Death Star.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens shows us something in an instant that took the franchise three movies to develop for Darth Vader. The struggle toward the dark side is not something that should be taken lightly. Instead of convicting Kylo as weak we should enjoy the journey that he has to under go to achieve his goals.
Star War hate it or love it, it has captured the minds and imaginations of millions of people. I remember watching Episode IV A New Hope when I was a little kid and was memorized by it. Loving everything about the movie from space travel to the mystery of the force. But now I lost all hope in Star Wars after the last two newest movies which are The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. In A New Hope you can actually see the journey of the hero, which follows Luke’s Journey from being a teenager to a man by the actions he took throughout the movie. In the new movie the force awakens Rey is supposed to be the hero and has to experience events in her life like Luke that will change her to be a hero that she was born to be. Yet after watching the newest movies I feel like there wasn’t much of the hero’s journey, and that they gave her powers that seem unrealistic for her level of training. Even Anakin Skywalker “the chosen one” had to train for years and he was barely able to fight legendary fighters like Count Dooku or Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Harry James Potter is 11 years old when his story is first told. Luke Skywalker is 19 years old when his story is first told. Two iconic fantasy and science-fiction protagonists. Everybody knows that all stories have some sort of structure - there’s an introduction, a problem, multiple story arcs, and much, much more, however, the Harry Potter series and the Star Wars series are extremely similar, especially since the sad truth is that Luke’s and Harry’s stories that aren’t so unique after all.
The Star Wars movie series follows a plot of a heroic quest this plot was made by Joseph Campbell. He believed that in a hero’s quest story the plot needs these aspects, the call to adventure, refusal of the quest, accepting the call, entering the unknown, supernatural aid, talisman/special offering, allies/helpers, tests & the supreme ordeal, reward, the journey home, and restoring the world. George Lucas the creator of the original six said he used this model for the Star Wars series. Star Wars IV; A New Hope begins with the herald Princess Leia and her ship being captured by imperial forces.
The entire plot of Return of the Jedi is the conclusion of a story of a young man and his friends trying to find their way in a battle between good and evil. Throughout the film, the characters each have their own, unique, inner struggle while all fighting in the same galactic battle. While the theme of darkness versus light is strong, there are also hints of other themes, such as power, corruption, love and sacrifice. All of these components are set in front of the backdrop of a nonstop battle between the freedom seeking Rebels and the evil Galactic Empire.
If you love space novels, and war, there is a perfect book for you! The book’s name is “Star Wars: The Jedi’s Weapon”, by Jason Fry. the great thing about this book is that it tells you the story that happened before “ The Force Awakens”, and after the “ Clone Wars”. Not just that, it tells you about Luke’s dad, Darth Vader! And there is a story about him, and how he ended up into the dark side that it wasn’t in any books or movies. It has a page that tells all the character in Star Wars, and the new character in “ Jedi’s Weapon”, and it has a story about how the “Emperor” was created by the dark side, and how it began and ended up into a large army. And at last, it tells about when Luke was a baby, and how his mother
The content of a film is equally important as the technical aspects within the film. To begin with, the internal character struggles and changes are overly prevalent within the fight. The main change that happens to the characters are their internal changes, these changes are slower changes caused "through [their] experiences" (Corrigan, White, 228) within the story and fight. Both Luke and Darth Vader are affected by these changes, Luke slowly falls to the dark side as his anger and hatred grows while being taunted by Darth Vader; meanwhile, Darth Vader changes throughout the fight as he begins realizes the error of his ways and save’s Luke from Darth Sidious by sacrificing himself. Additionally, themes and motifs are also used to solidify
Set approximately 10 years after The Phantom Menace, this installment in the beloved saga sees Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) and his Padawan Anakin Skywalker (newcomer Hayden Christensen) act as bodyguards to Padmé Amidala (Natalie Portman) who now serves as the senator from Naboo. Obi-Wan spends the majority of the film tracking down Amidala’s would-be assassin, discovering a secret clone army for the Jedi in the process. Anakin, on the other hand, begins to fall in love with Padmé and takes the first noticeable steps to becoming Darth Vader.
He races home to find his family dead and nothing left but becoming a jedi (A New Hope Scene-by-scene. Web. 2010). In an effort to get to the Princesses planet they go to the Cantina, a bar filled with scam artist, where the find Han Solo and his co-pilot Chewbacca. Once they’ve settled on a payment their journey begins. What Obi-Wan and Luke don’t know is that in an effort to get Leia to talk Darth threatens and then follow through with blowing up her home planet.(Web. SparkNotes.com. Star Wars Episodes iv-vi. 2014) Eventually Han’s ship is pulled up by Darth’s and then they are forced to fight their way out. Obi-Wan encounters and allows Darth to defeat him, meanwhile Leia is rescued by Han, Luke, and the others. Without Obi-Wan but the rescue of the Princess the only thing left to do is defeat Darth’s ship, the Death Star. Against all odds and the discovery of the force Luke blows it up and is later awarded for heroic nature, as is Han and Chewbacca, ending the first of the epic series.
Either due to the acting or the writing, Anakin Skywalker wasn't done well. First, old Ben Kenobi said to a young Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: A New Hope, “He was a good friend”, yet, in Attack of the Clones Anakin continuously flips between rejecting Obi Wan and relying on the man as a father figure, saying, “It's all Obi-Wan's fault. He's jealous. He's holding me back”, leaving a rather frustrated and strained relationship in their wake (Anakin). The boy has a misguided view on his own importance, believing that his status alone as the Chosen One should be enough for him to be placed high in the ranks in the Jedi Order. Thus, this gives Anakin the reasoning that he is above the Jedi’s rules. His “romance” with Senator Padme Amidala, questionable at best, stems from the resentment he holds for his fellow Jedi. Where are the parallels between Anakin and Vader? In the Original trilogy, Obi Wan showed admiration towards the Jedi that was Anakin Skywalker, but this is not the “cunning warrior” that Old Ben described to Luke. In Attack of the Clones Anakin’s fall was painfully obvious, as it was written, acted, and directed
Anakin Skywalker’s journey in the galaxy made him my favorite character while watching the saga. Watching the prequel trilogy before the original trilogy, especially in episode one, had me rooting for Anakin. He was very kind and compassionate towards Qui-Gon Jinn and Padme Amidala who were strangers to him at the time. When Qui-Gon Jinn discovers Anakin’s extremely high midi-chlorians count, it is believed that Anakin is the Chosen One. Then Anakin is older in episodes two and three, it is evident that Anakin becomes power-hungry and controlling. He loves Padme very much and wants to prevent Padme’s childbirth death so he joins the dark side and pledges himself to Chancellor Palpatine’s teachings. At this part of the film, I did not know what to think. I continuously thought back on Anakin Skywalker as a young boy and wondering how this anger escalated so quickly. Throughout the original trilogy, Anakin Skywalker is known as Darth Vader. In episode six, Return of the Jedi, Darth Vader, who is perceived as the evilest being in the
