The townspeople were grateful and relieved to have the children back in their lives because they truly believed they had lost them forever. I would have reacted the same way as the village because losing something you care deeply about has a major effect on your life. Twain’s descriptive detail helped me imagine the town’s emotions. The emotions expressed in this passage remind me of many television dramas where the child goes missing and is found without any physical harm done to them. I’m certain the children will never truly understand the worry they had caused. All of the children should have been more considerate and thought about the consequences they would face in the future. This passage shows me that the town cares for the children
When the man in the well started calling the kids for help one more time, instead of answering him, they "got up and began running, filling up with panic." When the author wrote the emotion, "panic" right after the children's careless actions, it illustrated to the audience how the children were doing something they usually wouldn't do. Not only that, their actions as a group led the one person, Wendy, who had stayed by the well, to run as well. When the author said that Wendy "stayed by the well for a while, watching us run as his calling grew louder and wilder, until she finally ran too" However, the funny thing is, when they are alone their actions towards the man are generosity and kindness. For when it says "The next morning we came back, most of us carrying bread or fruit or something to eat" most of the kids came back to give food to the man in the well. Once the quote is read deeper, the author mentions how "most" of the youngsters brought food but not all. Both part of the kids, the ones who brought food and the ones who didn't, acted based on their morals and not what the group had thought. Their actions were not influenced by their group members pressuring them to bring food, but they did it based on their

Mark Twain, one of the most famous and influential American writers, was born in Hannibal, Missouri on November 30, 1835 and died April 21, 1910. Born Samuel Langhorne Clemens, he eventually adopted his famous pseudonym in 1863. Shortly after his father's death in 1847, when Clemens was twelve, his father passed away. Mark Twain was enthralled by his opportunity to develop his skills as a printer, and later he realized that he had a unique talent for writing. By working as an apprentice printer, he

For my page I am going to review some topics of this novel that I loved, and for others that I didn’t, I will give some of my own ideas. I loved when the good guys stood up for themselves. Good guys tend to be more passive because that is what the most correct thing to do is, but when good guys like Atticus, Mr. Diaz, and Reverend Sykes stood up for people with somewhat of aggression it gives you that nice tingly feeling that I love to have when I’m reading a story. Good guys are never getting full out revenge on a horrible person because they don’t have it in them but what they always do is way better because that horrible person is made to feel horrible about himself. That is all I really loved about the story other than the other
The Adventures of Tom Sawyer had the setting of being prior to the Civil war. My guess is this book is based through the years of 1861 through the year 1865.
Upon seeing this quote by Nathaniel Hawthorne my first thought was ‘Oh god, I have to write an essay on this.’ Not something an author wants to hear at first, but after a thinking about it, I think this one might be happy someone’s writing an essay on something he said over 150 years later. Even after all that time this quote is still relevant and has no need to be changed. The writing views of Nathaniel Hawthorne are agreeable, however, i’ve never heard any of J.D. Salinger’s views on writing, but I feel like I’d agree with him too based off of his book The Catcher In The Rye. Though, I do not think I would agree with Mark Twain after having read The Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn.
In Both Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain and Catch-22 by Joseph Heller there is a lot of satire included in the novel. Although they both use satire Twain uses different types of satire unlike Heller who mostly uses comical satire. In Adventures of Huckleberry Finn the different types of satire used are slavery, racism, religious hypocrisy and superstitions. Twain uses satire more efficiently because he relates it to serious problems that people could relate to.
Samuel Clemens, better known as Mark Twain, was one of the best literary authors in history. Some even said he was the "inventor of the American narrative" (Williams 57), and William Faulkner dubbed him "the father of American literature". He won an honorary degree from the prestigious Oxford University in 1907 for his writings (Lutz 5). Many would agree that he was one of the greatest humorists of all time. In order to fully extrapolate the type of author that Mark Twain was, one must look into his youthful life, his writing style, and the humor in his writing.
Twain’s philosophical beliefs surround the idea that man is the lowest on the animal chain when it comes to intelligence. He believes that man can not function as greatly as other advanced and intelligent animals. He wrote about a snake and an earl, the snake attacked the earl because he was hungry and left the others alone, only doing what he needed to survive. The humans, they talked to each other and did nothing.
"All you need in this life is ignorance and confidence, and then success is sure" (Twain). This quote is from Mark Twain. He is a very famous author who has written such classics as The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Mark Twain’s real name is Samuel Clemens, and was known to have experienced different many things in his lifetime. He has worked as a miner, printer, river pilot, and more (www.cmgww.com). This tells us that he must have known many things, and possibly how he came up with this quote.
