Whites segregated mostly blacks and included other races and forced some crucial, hard times. It was then in 1955 where Martin Luther King Junior lead others into the first bus boycott, which made an impact and everyone knew about it. It all took place after the world famous Rosa Parks did her part a few weeks earlier to get this campaign going against segregation.
King’s life was very hard and he paid for being a leader. Many whites all over the United States disrespected him and his family. He continued however giving his famous speeches and activities that were against segregation. He went through so much in protecting his family since a bomb was left off in front of his house. He was later stabbed in the chest by a woman with a letter opener. King didn’t stop here however. He did the right thing that he knew and he kept on going, passing all the devastation and troubles he was having during these times.
One of King’s best accomplishments consisted of getting the U.S. Supreme Court to step in and illegalize the segregation of busing. No longer was it necessary for blacks to sit in the back and whites in the front. People of all races were aloud to sit wherever they wanted and this began a lot of segregation laws that came into play later in history.

She was arrested following the bus drivers order and fined ten dollars. This, however small incited a great wave of bus boycotts which in Montgomery black people chose not to ride the bus for a period of 381 days. This still to date is known as the moment in which the civil rights movement started to gain headway. It was the will of one woman who decided it was time for black people to take a stand and from this point on Martin Luther King was assigned to take this boycott on. Although he was assigned to take this on people also felt as he was young, fresh and people had not formulated enough of an opinion of him, there was little room for him to be hated yet so he posed as the right figure to lead this. After the many days of boycotting the case of this transport issue in Alabama went to the Supreme Court. He knew what African Americans needed and deserved, and that’s what he fought for. According to Document#4, King states that in order to have a “healing context” in the classroom, all races needed to be together. This means that separating black and white people wasn’t going to help, it was only going to harm and he didn’t want that. His ideas for African-Americans were the best because he’d set good goals to achieve complete equality and liberation for black people. In addition, he knew that responding with violence would’ve been counterproductive and a bad idea for African Americans. This shows that he really knew that in order to achieve equality, black and white people couldn’t be separated and he also knew that violence was not a
African American people have come a long way from the illiterate slaves, who were once picking cotton in fields, to powerful political leaders. A prime example would be President Barack Obama, the first African American president of the United States of America. But first we must ask ourselves, how did this occur? MLK Jr. became the president of his boycott. White people started bothering King and wanted to force him to give up his fight for equal rights for the black people.
