Introduction : A mathematical investigation is defined as a collection of worthwhile problem-solving tasks that has multi-dimensional content, is an open-minded, permitting several acceptable solutions and is often embedded in a focus question. In addition, a mathematical investigation involves a number of processes, which includes ---- researching outside sources to gather information, collecting data through such means as surveying, observing or measuring, collaborating with each team member taking specific jobs and using multiple …show more content…

Research can be defined as the search for knowledge, or as any systematic investigation, with an open mind, to establish novel facts, solve new or existing problems, prove new ideas, or develop new theories. Research can be divided into different steps in order to understand the whole process more in depth. The first step towards conducting research is to observe. Consistst of the subject area of ones interest and following that subject area to conduct subject related research. The subject area should not be randomly chosen since it requires reading a vast amount of
2. Describe the pattern of growth in the “Number of people told” column for both Scenario A and Scenario B.
The mean for the column “mean” is 3.56. It is very close to the parameter of interest but is not equal to it. You can calculate a confidence interval for the mean of the mean column, but a specific confidence interval would need to be provided. In that case, the confidence interval would be centered on 3.56, not 3.5.
The average number of breakdowns from the simulation trials was 1.93 with a standard deviation of 0.20. No. of breakdowns per week
To begin with, part of my job is to write or compose programming code which is systematically on it's own. Provided that, as part of the team conducted the measurement. The project that I can think of as the most broad case where we applied a scientific method throughout the organization was the search for proper and efficient solution to handle incoming support request sent to the IT department. Prior to implementing the ticketing system, IT support request are posted via email through an email group that includes all members of the IT department. This has been the standard procedure for years, it has worked well and preferred by many staff. That said, our organization has hired several employees, redefined departments and increase individual
Select one (1) project from the working or educational environment of your choice and specify the variation nature of the project in question. Next, propose the overall manner in which you would apply statistical thinking strategy to improve the end result of the selected project. Provide a rationale to support your response.
| In 2001 the Center for Medicare and Medicaid took charge of the Health Care Financing Administration. A person can go on with SSI for 2 years if he/she fails to meet the requirements for Medicare for the time being. The person should be eligible for Social Security Disability in this case. For some particular disease Medicare may be offered without any delay
As a math instructor, I love your topic. I think math manipulative are under utilized and math teachers have to be extra creative to help struggling students. I think your topic will give educators the support they need to help students who struggle in math. The only question I had was, are you expanding this topic to all middle school math skills or are you selecting certain math skills? Overall, I believe you have a great topic.
Research embarked over time has affected the quality of knowledgeable professionalism, gifting a more in-depth look at the theme and topic, giving pathways for simple and abundant connections. Slowly, as insight on the various subjects was taken, many of the concepts that were acquired in our research could easily be applied to our Defense of Mastery. To see how the research conducted from other subjects is affected by opinion, Mathematics will
You wish to approximate a binomial probability by an area under a normal curve. Use the continuity correction to determine which area under the appropriate normal curve will approximate the required probability.
The lesson I recorded was for a math support class for twelve students. In this lesson, I am reviewing with the meaning of slope, how to find slope, and where it is written in a linear equation. The students were then able to practice individually with a card sort for different points.
There are many research methods in today's society. However, the experimental method is the methods that has my interest. Experiments are the formal tests of specific variables and effects, performed in a setting where all aspects of the situation can be controlled. The reason why I chose this method is because unlike and other method one can physically test the experiment out and weigh the pros and cons.
Observation is an important tool, and one that is used on a daily basis by all people. Observation in the scientific method is used to first identify an issue, in the next step patterns and regularities are identified. The strength of recognizing patterns and regularities is that once recognized and identified a pattern or regularity can often be manipulated in order to change the results. Prior to manipulating the pattern that a person has recognized they should follow the third step of the scientific method and perform research. Research may show that experiments have been tried in the set of circumstances a person is observing, and may render some options as having previously failed or previously rendering a particular set of results. The last steps are creating a theory, predicting the results, and testing that theory. There is an optional fifth step of reporting the results that is used by professional scientists and students, but often is not necessary in daily life. (Trefil & Hazen,
Analysing the problem involves identifying and collecting the relevant information and representing it in a meaningful way. Analysing closed problems helps me to identify all the possible causes and confirm the real cause, or obstacle, before looking for a solution. With open-ended problems I am looking for information which will help to suggest a range of possible ways to solve the problem. Analysis also helps me to decide what the ideal solution would be, which helps to guide my search for solutions.
While watching National Hockey League (NHL) games, I often heard the play-by-play announcer mention at the start of the third and final period how it would be tough for a team to come back from a one goal deficit. This led me to wonder just how difficult it was mathematically, and how much previous periods affected the final one. In this project, I will investigate whether the scores at the end of the first period affect the final score of NHL games.
