What is equality? Equality is when everyone equal in a society, it could equality in race or gender. Based on the five sources I have, I can argue that women were not equal in Mesopotamian culture. Mesopotamia took place in 3500 B.C. Iraq. Women were not equal because, they were punished more harshly than men. Women were also sold to their husbands for marriage, and if they die and have children with her husband, than only their sons will get the dowry. In the Code of Ur-Nammu it says, that if a slave woman compares herself to her mistress than she shall be punished. This was located in law number twenty-five.
