Michael Jordan: The early years.
Michael Jordan was one of five children born to James and Delores Jordan.
He was born February 17, 1963 in Brooklyn. The Jordans' felt that the streets of Brooklyn were unsafe to raise a young family of five children. Instead of trying to endure the streets of Brooklyn, the Jordan family moved to Wilmington,
North Carolina. James got a job in Wilmington as a mechanic and Delores got a job as a teller at United Carolina Bank. The Jordan's always stressed the value of manners to their children. The above examples typified Michael Jordan's early years.

After a great college career, Michael was drafted by the Chicago Bulls as the third pick of the 1984-85 season. Michael quickly signed a $6.15 million contract. Michael made a huge impact in the National Basketball Association.
He made such an impact that he was selected to be an alternate on the Eastern
Division All-Star squad. During his rookie season with the Bulls, companies started picturing Jordan on posters and on television. Jordan led the Bulls to a 38 win and 44 loss season. Jordan averaged 28.2 points per game, while setting a team record with 2,313 points. He won the Schick Pivotal Player of the Year Award, Seagram's NBA Pivotal Player of the Year Award, and the honor of
Rookie of the year.

By staying in college an athlete can grow, develop, and mature throughout the course of their years in college. The athletes brain is more developed. The athlete has a more mature, developed mindset that benefits the athlete by allowing them to see game plans in a different perspective and allows the athlete to face challenges with a clearer mind, because college has equipped them with more experience in tough situations. For example, Michael Jordan, also known as MJ, received a full athletic scholarship to North Carolina University in 1981. Jordan played for the North Carolina Tar Heels for 3 years. Although Jordan was drafted in the 1984 NBA draft, he was only a junior in college.
Justin Jackson, from Houston, Texas was a former forward for the UNC men's basketball team. Before his years at the University of North Carolina, he spent many years playing for his high school team and elite AAU teams. He made himself stand out that led him to UNC. This 22 year old helped UNC get to their 26-6 record and their 14-4 record in league play, that gave the team its 31st regular-season Atlantic Coast Conference title. After the first game of Stahl being coach Miles was put on the bench. For the rest of the season Miles got no play time(in the games). This didn’t stop them from all eventually becoming all-americans, and when it came draft time Kris Dunn was picked 5th overall, Niang was picked 50th, and Uthoff signed a contract with the Sacramento Kings as an undrafted free agent.

Now remembered for being the best and the most popular athlete in the sports world. He had a great influence on the people. "Jordan was just another great legend" (Stein 2). Being a role model on and off the court Jordan showed his abilities to play the game and his kindness towards other people, especially those who admired him the most. "His widespread appeal to fans has helped keep basketball one of the world's most popular spectator sports" (Stein 1).
