Modern Day Slavery

Slavery has no single definition behind it because it is defined in so many different ways.
It is best defined as confinement against a person 's will. Slavery has existed in almost every region of the world. It dates back to before 500 BCE in Mesopotamia, Babylonia and
Ancient Roman cultures. They have found records of sales, ownerships, and even rules and regulations for owning and selling slaves. Slavery has been an issue ever since civilization began.
Slavery in India was not a major issue until about 1000 CE. This was the start and was when
Islamic conquerors reached India and began forcing people into slavery and sending them to
Persia and Afghanistan. They sold thousands of the Indian people into slavery to go work in the mines.Over the years, India’s slavery rates continued to slowly grow. Later years brought other forms of slavery in India referred to as modern slavery. These new forms of slavery consist of sex trafficking, debt bondage, land grabbing and violation of rights. A lack of action towards this issue has allowed it to grow and India has now grown to have the largest slavery rate of any single nation. The government must increase its funding towards the efforts of decreasing slavery in India and publicly bring more attention to the issue so that the rates will not continue to grow and completely overwhelm the nation.
