The achievement I am most proud of is participating in NASA's Space Settlement Contest in 2013. I was the leader of a group of seven people and the project spread throughout six months. We started by being very enthusiastic and having a lot of ideas. However, after the first few weeks problems and stress started to appear. What made me proud is that, despite our differences, we managed to collaborate and deal with the challenges of the project. There were moments when we thought we will not meet the deadline or we will give up, because participating in the contest was optional. However, we persevered, we supported each other and we managed to overcome the problems that came our way. I was the proudest of me and my team when we submitted the
Accomplishments in my life have really given me a new understanding for myself and others and allowed for personal growth. One accomplishment has provoked this growth: being inducted into the National Honor Society. The society helps me to think differently about other people and learn of ways I could become a better person. This experience has shown me the importance of hard work, never giving up, social interaction, and helping others.
My most meaningful accomplishment in the last few years is the work that I did as Social Chair of my sorority. When I was offered the position, I knew there would be stress from becoming the sole representative of my sorority to the rest of Greek life and other organizations. However, I greatly underestimated the stress of being the bridge between my organization and others. I pushed myself to see my position through and felt a huge sense of accomplishment after I was done and able to see the work that I was able to do. I would measure my success by comparing the work of other social chairs to what I was able to accomplish. Not only did I look at past social chairs within my organization, but I also sought out other social chairs for other
DI would say, successfully starting over as a non traditional student is my most meaningful achievement to date. While I've achieved most, if not all, goals that I've set to carry out, Most meaningfully, coming to terms with a juvenile decision and not giving up serves as my most telling accomplishment.
My greatest personal achievement was escaping the negative circumstances that I grew around during my childhood. Within my poverty-ridden neighborhood was an abundance of street gangs and at a young age, I had fallen in with a group of gang members. I was headed towards a path of delinquency but was fortunate enough to have a realization that allowed for me to distance myself from gang-life and instead center myself
My most meaningful accomplishment is finding my inner leader and learning to believe in myself. For many years I was extremely shy and I let this deter me from enjoying activities outside my comfort zone. Growing up I never really believed enough in myself to find my leadership abilities. It was not until early in my college career that I began to truly see my potential. My freshman year of college I began to open myself up to the possibilities around me by joining clubs on campus and making connections with those around me. The one organization that truly changed my outlook forever was Phi Beta Chi National Sorority. Within my sisterhood I began to open up and see myself as the leader I knew I could be. Once I had this new found outlook I
This summer I won a scholarship from Delta Airlines for being a leader in my community. While I was there I was awarded squadron leader and was given the job of watching 10 other individual perform and succeed at the tasks and missions we had to complete every day. Also during my ninth and tenth grade year I was awarded MVP for my volleyball team because of the positivity and leadership I brought on the court. And lastly I was the president of my youth group and was asked to organize and lead special events. These are just a few of the was I have shown leadership, and I hope I am able to further this role in
The accomplishment that I think that sparked the most realization in me is the Atlas program I was accepted into last year. Atlas means Adirondack Teen Leadership and Services. With Atlas it made me learn team building skills and how to work with people I didn´t know. Atlas also made me realize how much I like helping people. When we did our community service project at the nursing home I loved it so much because we were helping by earning money to buy christmas gifts for all the residents, we wrapped the present and baked cookies for all the staff. It was so much fun just to help the nursing home because most people just ignore the people. Atlas pushed me out of my comfort zone it made me learn more leadership skills and not to be as shy as
An accomplishment that set my life forward and taught me multiple traits and allowed my character to develop would have to be when I set out, got a job, and saved up enough money to buy my first car. It was a summer I'll always remember. After my sophomore year of high school I set out during the summer and got a job at Glidden Fence Company. I was nervous not working at all previous to working at Glidden and started wondering whether I had gotten too far ahead of myself. I was assigned to a three man crew and started my career as a fence builder, the crew leader was super nice to me and guided me in every step as I began to learn how to do it myself. So long story short I threw myself into a foreign environment unaware of what the
My Accomplishment There are many accomplishments I am proud of completing, but the one I most admire myself for is joining Cross Country. I knew that I could run I was just afraid of all the running they did but now that I am in Cross Country I can’t seem to think what my life would be without this sport. I was encouraged to join this sport by my coaches and my parents. They knew I had the ability to complete this goal, but I just had doubt in myself. I believe that every sport takes dedication and my biggest accomplishment is Cross Country.
An accomplishment that took a great deal of time is getting my 200 meter event time down to 23.4 seconds. This is considered fast in the world of high school track and field. I started running track freshmen year and 200 meter event was my favorite event. I would practice everyday and always be mentally prepared for the race. During my junior year, I was not hitting the times I thought I should be hitting, and even though I was getting faster at the 200 meter, I wasn't as fast as I wanted. I continued to work hard at the 200 meter because I wanted to make it to nationals. I turned to my teammates for help because I knew they would be able to push me to run faster, push me to work harder, and that's why they were so helpful. I finally got my
The achievement in itself isn't nearly as significant as it's aural stigma; how it burrowed itself in my day to day actions. This was the first actualized situation that exhibited the principal of hard work paying off. It was in that moment that my conscious decided it was all worth it in the end. With this newly realized principal taking affect in my life, my interior mindset, cognitive, and strategic functions have evolved
As a kid, I was fascinated with the sky above. The glowing orb that would emerge from the horizons at night and dissipate by the sun and all its bright power. I would ask my dad what those twinkling lights that shined bright as diamonds were. He'd told me that every star was crafted with its own purpose; its own mission for its life. I asked what our purpose was. His response was: "To visit them."
Imagine you’re running in a race, all you have to do to win is run fast and go past the finish line first. Now, imagine you’re in another race, but to win you must walk on the moon! The United States and the Soviets had that kind of race during the Cold War, called the Space Race. According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, a Cold War is “a state of political hostility between countries characterized by threats, propaganda, and other measures short of open warfare, in particular.” This Cold War was “a state of geopolitical tension after World War II between powers in the Eastern Bloc and powers in the Western Bloc.” (History.com staff, 2010) and lasted from 1945-1990. In this essay, I will be writing about one event of the
My involvement to the contest that caught my interest more was in the writing , spent hours and hours coming up with ideas until my writing came along well. Finally submitted my writing while waiting for an answer for a winner .The least person i expected to be the winner was me , but the announcement they made for the contest winner shocked me as they said my name . From there I knew my hard work to becoming a good writer paid off which I wasn't good at that resulted by winning the writing contest. This event is what helped me develop me into becoming a good writer
My greatest accomplishment thus far, has been getting high grades in college. Accomplishing this required: patience, dedication, tenacity, stamina, and confidence. It took patience because there were long hours that were dedicated to homework and studying. It took dedication because I had to continually tell myself that it would be worth it, even when it was difficult. It took tenacity because I knew that I couldn't accept anything less than my best. It took stamina because there were a lot of late nights and just a lot of time in general to complete everything that was required of me. Lastly, it took confidence because if I didn't believe that I could, it would have made it a million times harder.
