In my opinion, through joining National English Honour Society, I may be able to gain a creative outlet in the subject I am passionate about. My greatest passion is learning new things, and exploring areas that interest me. Furthermore, meeting others that have the same passion for English would be enjoyable. Through this society, I would love to explore and help the community by reading to children, or doing community service related to English. I would love to tutor and help others who struggle in English, since I was not always a strong writer. Most of all however, my goal is to inspire others to have the same passion as I do in learning, even if they find it in another subject area.
Being a part of National Honor Society means that I am held at a higher standard than most students. I am to uphold the four pillars of National Honor Society, which are service, scholarship, leadership, and character. All four aspects of NHS have been important in my life and have shaped me into who I am today. Being involved with and serving my community has given me a better understanding of the needs of a community. I have had the opportunities to help people, which brings me joy, and gives me a way to reach out to my surrounding area. Being a good scholar has meant the world to me all of my life and it has begun to pay off. I see myself excelling in areas of life that some struggle. It has also helped me get into good colleges and have
Reaching my goal in becoming a member of the National Honor Society would give me a great sense of pride both academically and personally. As a person I have ambition, academic excellence, and great decision making skills to offer NHS. I have been striving to do my academic best for a chance to be in the NHS, I show this with my 3.5 GPA. The National Honor Society is based off four pillars: Scholarship, Leadership, Service and Character.
I believe I would make a great candidate for the National English Honors Society because I share the beliefs of the mission statement in multiple ways. I have always loved literature and will remain interested in it. I believe in building a community of academic achievers as well as trying my best to be one. I try to excel in all that I do by maintaining high grades and also being part of the community outside of school. English has always been one of my favorite subjects and I am looking forward to sharing my love for English with others.
If I were to be accepted into the National Junior Honor Society, which is one of the highest honors that can be awarded, I would consider myself to be a very lucky person. Throughout my life, I've always considered myself as someone with good character and values.I've always prided myself in always doing the right thing and helping others. In addition, I view myself as a leader, not a follower. Being a leader comes naturally to me. I'm a leader amongst my friends and siblings. They always look up to me when they have a problem or when they need advice. I have a good standard education with an A average which will help me achieve my goals in the future.
I may not be the best candidate for the next member of the National Junior Honor Society, but I certainly believe I could be a great addition! Overall, I am a great learner, leader and student. I have not had any major discipline problems since kindergarten! I have always had top grades and have been top of my class at some point or another. I have good grades that I always maintain and standards that I never lower. My character is not the best but it certainly isn’t the worst. I try to help out in my school or community when possible but regrettably I have not given much of my time to my school or community. At the end of the day, I am a good student, friend, son and brother.
If I were inducted in the Abeneefoo Kuo Honor Society, I would love to see the organization expand and become more active on campus. There are so many organizations on campus that acknowledge and celebrate the African American race that this organization may not receive the recognition it deserves. I would love to see this organization spread its admiration for academic excellence by starting a tutoring program for kids in the Athens area. By lending our wits and mentorship to the students in the area, we will bridge the gap between the campus and the surrounding community. We can also host fun events for the students at the end of each semester and provide incentives to encourage them to exceed inside and outside the classroom. As the Programming
The National Honor Society is a great way for me to be able to interact more with my fellow peers and be able to discuss solve and help with any problems we or the community might have. This organization helps me build a resume that would really appeal to colleges and sets a foundation for my college application. The National Honor Society will also give me ways to mature into a better person and be able to grow in the right path.
The National Honor Society is not only a privilege to be a part of, but is an outstanding achievement for the person. To be a member of the National Honor Society, I believe I must have characteristics such as: being a role model and having leadership, superb academic standings, and an overall character that will encourage others. I want to be a member of the National Honor Society because I feel like I qualify for the characteristics I have listed above. As for being a role model and having leadership, I have never been in any kind of trouble, and I am always open to help anyone who needs it, including schoolwork or personal matters. My grades are also up to par with academic standards. I have been on the Honor Roll for as long as I can remember,
One of my goals that I set for high school as a freshman was to be inducted into the National Honor Society, now I have the chance to hopefully fulfill this by getting accepted. I believe that through my high school career so far I have exhibited character most accurately according to NHS standards. I am a student who takes pride in being conscientious of my decisions, whether it be to finish homework when I would much rather watch television or to refrain from activities that have a greater chance of negative consequences than positive ones. Furthermore, I plan to retain these character traits for the rest of my life, especially in my future career. Concerning my future career, I plan to achieve at least a master’s degree in whatever I
Being a member of the National Honor Society would mean something very important to me. It means that I will get to be apart of something that helps improves many people's lives on a daily basis. From the time I was young, I had always had this thing inside me to want to help people. It could be the smallest thing from buying can food items for the poor to spending my evenings coaching. No matter what it is or what effort it took, it always gave me the same heart felt moment, knowing I did something for the better. I want to be in National Honor Society because I want to make a difference. There are a lot of people out there who need assistance. That means there needs to be people in this world who help the ones in need and I want to be one
It’s been a great three years of being mentored by you in speech, debate, and finally, AP English Language and Composition. Through those three years of rigorous public speaking and academically challenging work, I can say with sincerity that I am a different person. Now, I know tenfold of what I knew before of high fructose corn syrup, trigger locks, and IRCA. It’s been an unequivocal honor to have met someone with such an intellectual arsenal as you and I have to wonder if I’ll ever meet anyone as knowledgeable even in college. You fended off every single argument that either the Debate Team or the 14 member fifth period AP English coalition threw at you with such ease and class. Wherever you decide to go next, I have no doubt in my mind that you will have the same scintillating impact you had on Suffern High School. Be sure to hoist that Tampa Bay Rays banner proudly for all those poseur Yankee fans to see!
Within the due course of a lifetime, it seldom becomes apparent that an opportunity, which has the potential to metamorphose oneself, comes just close enough to grasp. It is in the present which I find myself within this position, similar to the prior-mentioned situation, of dreamily grasping at Westminster’s Honors Program for the hope of my own metamorphosis. For I know that, if I am to become a philosopher in the far future, which is my hope and goal, this program will aid me by introducing the rigor of my desired field at such an early stage of my scholarly development. Au contraire, referring to the theoretical benefit of this program towards my future, I believe that the Honors Program will find it quite advantageous to have me due to my vast knowledge, relative to other incoming Freshmen, of critical thinking, classical debate and logic. And it is not for pride that I say this, but, rather, it is because of my intensive independent
National Honor Society is one of the selective clubs, where members are selected based on their academic performance. I participate in the extracurricular opportunities, because it provides me with tons of opportunities to volunteer(community service). I like volunteering, where I meet new people and learn new things at every time. I feel happy after helping the needy people. Currently, I am secretary of NHS, which gave more opportunities to bring new volunteering events for members and officers. This is the best way to give back to the
Over the past three years my sophomore honors English class completed a project-based unit where students publish a thoughtful collection of narrative nonfiction writing in which they tell specific family stories. Along the way students conduct interviews to produce a journalistic piece of writing and then utilize creative writing techniques to develop characters, settings and use selected literary devices. The project culminates with the publishing and launching of a hardbound copy book using professional methods and local collaboration.
Ever since I was a child, I have been fascinated by language. I have always admired how writers could understand the way words relate to each other and convey different meanings by providing different contexts. Once I was introduced to the English language and English literature, I knew that that was what I wanted to devote my life to. Authors such as John Keats, William Shakespeare and Edgar Allan Poe have inspired me to pursue a degree in that which makes me happy and passionate: English.
