How does Marijuana impact American’s teens?

Did you know marijuana use causes a significant change the teenage brain? Did you also know it slows cancer cells from forming? Marijuana is the most common illicit drug used by teens. It has been a nationwide debate this last decade. But really what is this “marijuana”, does it just negatively impacts out teens, and does it really cure cancer.
What is Marijuana Marijuana is a mixer of the leaves, stem, and flowers of the hemp plant. It is usually a greenish, brown color. Marijuana has two main species; Indica and Sativa. It is commonly referred to as weed, gas, kush, and bud. Marijuana originated in Central and South Asia (Blaszczak- Boxe). It was brought to America in the early 20th century. Marijuana was originally used as a medicine to treat tooth aches and pain during child birth. It was also used for spiritual and religious purposes. Marijuana can even be used to manufacture textiles, rope, and oils. Marijuana is one of humanity’s oldest cultivated crops (Springer, 1980). It can be smoked, drunk, vaped, or eaten. Medical marijuana is currently legal in states 27 states and recreational marijuana is legal in seven states (Rowley).
Indica vs. Saliva Marijuana’s mind boggling effects is caused Tetrahydrocannabinol, or T.H.C. (Hamilton). T.H.C. percentages are different in throughout the different species, usually, Sativa has more T.H.C. Saliva plants can reach 20 feet and it is best suited for daytime use. It spurs alertness and creativity. Marijuana’s health well-being effects are caused by Cannabidiol or C.B.D. Usually, Indica has a higher C.B.D. percentage. Indica grows closer to the ground and is best suited for nighttime use. It helps relaxes and reliefs pain in the body (Bergman).
Marijuana Trafficking A small percentage marijuana in the United States was grown domestically. A lot of it smuggled into the United States from Mexico. 40 to 67 percent of Marijuana in the United States is from Mexico (Joffe-Block). Marijuana is smuggled into the United States by a series of gangs and usually sold to U.S citizens by associates and relatives of those gangs.
