We Must Be Prepared for the French and Understand the New England Colonies’ Resources The French may attack the New England Colonies and our preparedness, understanding and planning are required. We must understand the economic, geographic, political and social characteristics and be willing to work with the Colonists and Indians to avoid a long drawn out conflict. The Colonies have deep harbors, specifically Boston Harbor, allowing for quick imports of military supplies and food, benefiting our readiness and allowing resupply. These harbors must be protected by our navy. The winters there are very cold, and ports may freeze. The Appalachian Mountains and surrounding geography is able to be used for protection and surveillance. The economic
Today’s world portrays countries that each have distinct characteristics religiously as well as economically. In the British colonies before 1700, the colonies could be dispersed into two distinct regions, the Chesapeake colonies, and New England colonies. Both areas varied in religion and economy, and thrived in different ways. For the New England colonies, the offering of religious freedom and an end to persecution in England caused many Puritans to sail to New England. However, the main motivation for people going to the Chesapeake colonies was to get rich fast, as well as other economic goals. All in all, the distinct traits of different regions of the continental British colonies caused the creation of two very distinct territories.
Each of the three different regions had differences that highlighted the legacy of that certain region. The New England Region was known for its fish and harbors because of its geography in America. The Mid Atlantic region was known for its perfect climate for growing crops and it balanced indentured servants and slaves. The Southern Region legacy was that is produced three high in demand products and it imported slaves in an exponential increase. The major British colonial regions possessed specific commodities which ran their economy but each region had different tolerances towards religion and slaves.
In the 16th century into the early 17th centuries, there was a rapid spread of various European nations who occupied the new American lands. Before they set out on ships to occupy, kings would send people to explore the treasuries and worth of North America’s coast. Before settling, there were already two different colonies who existed which were the New England and Chesapeake colonies. Although the New England and the Chesapeake colonies are massively different from each other, there are also many similarities that readers can compare such as their economy, geography, and religious characteristics.
Throughout New England Colony life they have very strict rules and will not tolerate bad behavior. There so strict in fact they have a man called the tithingman, the tithingman whacks people in the head if there asleep in church and he tickles the females. If the children are misbehaving then the tithingman punishes them to, if this keeps going on the tithing man will find their parents and whack or tickle them to (how embarrassing). The New england colonies practiced slavery throughout the 17th century.
Starting off as a single colony, the New England colony eventually expanded to form the Middle colonies, Southern colonies, and the Chesapeake colonies. The Chesapeake and New England colonies both stemmed from England, but developed in a way that made them each very unique in the way that they developed. Developing around different intentions, the New England and Chesapeake colonies were unique due to their different economic and social structures.
America was a place for dreams and new beginnings until white people arrived in 1607. Historians divided them into three groups: The New England colonies (Rhode Island, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire), The Middle Colonies (Delaware, Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey) and The Southern Colonies (Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia). Most colonies use to have a two-house legislative body, although in most colonies the English government selected the upper house, except in Connecticut and Rhode Island, which were self-governing. The New England, Middle, and Southern Colonies grew differently over the period 1619-1760. Each of these had specific economic, social, and political developments.
One of the main reasons English citizens moved to America was the prospect of freedom from from religious persecution. Many colonies were founded solely to be a safe haven for religious minorities. For instance, Massachusetts was founded by a segment of extreme Puritans called, in hopes of practice their religion without being harassed. The Separatists believed the Church of England maintained too many similarities with the Catholic Church, and it was their job, as saints, to purify it. Their religious beliefs angered many people, especially King James, who was the head of the Church of England at that time. A large group of the Separatists settled in Massachusetts, hoping to practice their religious beliefs without harassment. The Massachusetts Bay Puritans created a very particular society which incorporated their cherished beliefs into the foundation
New England colonies developed rapidly throughout the early 1600s and the Puritans helped found most of those colonies. They were Christian group who fled from Europe to escape persecution from the Church of England and the ruling class. They originated from a movement for reform in the Church of England and came with certain values and ideas. They believed that God wanted them to set a good example that would cause those who had remained in England to reform their “sinful” ways and pretty much wanted to be the example community (The City upon a Hill) (Doc A). Over time the aspects of the Puritan’s lifestyles slowly integrated into American culture like strong work ethics and the importance of education in society. They are part
If there is a war and they plan on getting their food from fishing somebody has to do it and slaves are not a big part of our population. Then if we decide to trade for food with the Mid Atlantic Colonies or the Southern colonies, then we would have to wait for those shipments to come in, not having a bountiful supply on hand. We are not brutal men, for their daily life surrounds around the church and these people are not prepared. Economically, these people are ready and they make their own manufactured products and they are able to spread word easily and are always addressing problems. These people only need natural materials in order to make them so they would be able to be well supplied. Using the terrain would make so that the French fight uphill and they fight downhill. So even though there were many things that would help them through the war, their peaceful ways would prohibit them to be good fighters. I am asking you to help us in many ways if we go to war. First, we would need training to have better soldiers. Second, we would need to stalk up on supplies and cotton for clothes to keep them warm. If all of these things are accomplished then the New England Colony will be ready for
The three original regions of English settlement on the Eastern Coast of North America developed independently into societies according to the environment and people who settled in them. These communities lay the foundation for the thirteen colonies that later became the United States of America.
This report shares the benefits and challenges presented by the southern colonial region in preparation for the war against France. Five different factors have been explored: geography and climate, economics, politics, social dynamics, and colonists’ motivation. This region will be a great benefit during the war since there are more benefits than challenges. The benefits of this region are greater than the challenges to help the war.
The New England colonial region will be a little challenging during the war. The politics are kind of queer, the soil is to rocky, and they are not from the Church of England, but I believe that His Majesty and Parliament can save protect our colonies from the French. If everything else fails, I propose that we should put a blockade on
This report details how Important New England will be in the war against the French. In it is the geography, climate, resources, and social and political life of New England.
The English colonies in North America were slowly separating themselves from the crown. It starts with radical kings in Europe who cause so much disruption that a civil war occurs. The colonies worked together to fend for themselves and survived quite well without the crown and Parliament watching over them. England was not aware of it but every little thing they did to try reasserting command over the colonies only pushed them farther away. If England had always kept a firm hand on the colonies, we would be speaking proper English and marveling at our queen in the twenty-first century.
This essay is investigating the role of naval powers in the American Revolutionary War. The war was predominantly land-based and took place in the revolting Colonies, themselves. British and American conflict is most commonly investigated. There seems to be little role of navy with so much land combat and so little opportunity for a Continental Navy to develop. However, the British had to cross the Atlantic to supply the war, and more importantly, there were European powers who had a British defeat in their best interest. These European powers who would side with the Colonies or, at the very least, against Britain, would be the winning factor in the Revolutionary War.
