There are many different emotions like sadness, happiness, and joyfulness just to name a few that people can experience. One of the most powerful and sometimes dangerous emotions is Jealousy. Jealousy is a powerful emotion that most people experience at some point in their life. However, not everyone is affected in the same way. Some people are filled with insecurity. While others are filled with fear. Most people experience anger. In William Shakespeare’s Othello the audience learns through the characterization of Othello and Iago, the symbolism of the handkerchief, and through Othello denying that he is jealous we learn that jealousy can make people behave irrationally in certain circumstances.

Jealousy is someting that can cloud the minds of even the most smartest people.It can friends enemies and blur people's judgment and convince themselves of something that is false .throughout the book anger is a big motivator for the characters.

On the one hand, nowadays there is at least opportunity for progression in life. There’s something out there to live and die for for each person. New people are stepping up to the batter’s box with a chance to hit the homerun to win the game. There’s such a big amount of room of potential for everyone to be the next millionaire, you never know who will make it big. On the other hand, there’s a very big tendency for people to get jealous of others for what they have. Whether it’s the new hot item, fancy clothing or whatever, individuals will always have that look of covetousness on their faces because there will always be something that they must acquire to express to his friends. This behavior causes many to stumble down the steps of success.

His jealousy caused him to rope Brutus into a plot to assassinate Caesar, the “ruler of Rome.” Brutus and Cassius rope others into their plot, ultimately creating their group of conspirators. The Conspirators eventually kill Caesar in Act III and set Rome into turmoil. Marc Antony, Caesar’s second in command, and Octavius, Caesar’s son, go to war with Cassius and Brutus. In the play Othello, jealousy is shown to be very evident through the actions of the characters. Jealousy is an emotion that everyone shares, and it is ultimately responsible for the tragic ending of the play. Everyone feels jealous at certain times of their lives, and this feeling can cause people to do irrational things. This human emotion also shows people to be weak in the sense that they are never happy with what they have. Shakespeare shows through Othello, Iago, Roderigo, and Brabantio that jealousy is the most corrupt and destructive emotion.

William Shakespeare explores these ideas in his play, A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Two characters that he uses to show these qualities are Oberon and Helena. According to Shakespeare in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, jealousy turns people to take desperate measures to get what they want, and they may need intervention to obtain what they desire.

Jealousy is described as someone who is feeling or showing envy of someone because of their achievements and advantages. Jealousy plays a major role in Shakespeare’s play Othello. There are many instances throughout the play that show jealousy between the characters. Throughout the play, jealousy is used for destructive purposes only. I believe that Iago longed to get revenge on Othello for previous issues. This only results in a long line of accusations and disputes between the characters in Othello.

When a person first thinks of murder, envy probably is not their second thought, but it should be their third. Statistically speaking, jealousy ranks number three in the most common motives for manslaughter. So although it may seem like a simple enough emotion, many feelings coincide. To most, it is a stressful and unwanted inner conflict that can cause or further aggravate thoughts of insecurity and inadequacy. Also, apparently, violence-inducing rage.

This monster known as jealousy not only consumes the people that it hates, but also consumes the person itself. Jealousy is the culprit for any character that had died in the story. Jealousy fueled each scene to the next in Othello and the more that is added, the more damage it does as seen with its effects on Roderigo, Iago, and Othello.

Jealousy is the sensation to envy someone and have the desire to avenge someone. The infamous play Othello portrays the consequences of jealousy. Throughout the play, Othello tragic flaw is his own jealousy. Othello jealousy causes a transition of character. Othello was once the charming noble gentleman and it is now turned into a vicious callous monster. Othello’s jealousy was his downfall that cost the deaths of multiple lives.

“Envy is a feeling of discontent or covetousness with regard to another 's advantages, success, possessions, etc” (Dictionary. Com). It is hard to be satisfied as a human. People feel envy about other’s wealth, looking, and job. Pride is what causes envy, as human beings people do not like it when others are better. Some people say envy is a sickness, but some people say that is a motivation to be better. Although envy and jealousy are similar, but they are two different things according to studies.
