One Dream, One Shot Everyone has an American dream, a belief represents that anyone can accomplish a better life through hard labor, and finding happiness find happiness at the end. These people work their lives to fulfill a dream that seems impossible, but in the end they succeed or fail. Despite the odds, people still dive into this idea not knowing how it will end. Taking risks in life, they have a higher chance of achieving this dream of theirs. It ultimately shapes their character and spirit in ways they did know was possible. Stopping at no extent, they make sacrifices to achieve this main goal of theirs. While George finds hope to believe in this dream of theirs, he is not sure how both of them will acquire this American dream. This is why the American dream is put to the test. George describes, "All kin's a vegetables in the garden, and if we want a little whisky we can sell a few eggs or something, or some milk. We'd jus' live there. We'd belong there. There wouldn't be no more runnin' round the country and gettin' fed by a Jap cook. No, sir, we'd have our own place where we belonged and not sleep in no bunk house" (57). George has been so caught up into this dream that he can almost imagine it. He is not only excited about achieving the American dream, but also he describes it so detailed that it is like he can see it mentally without even thinking about it. George feels like there is a chance that the dream might come true because he has his friend Lennie beside him, as well as a companion to never let go of this dream. Having the American dream planned out all in his head, he can imagine what will happen when they get the farm, land, animals, independence, and finally accomplish this dream. But he is not sure if he is capable of doing so. George explains resignedly, “ Well-look, we’re gonna work on a ranch like one we come from up north...in weed.” (6).
