Chapter One: “Whenever you feel like criticizing any one . . . just remember that all the people in this world haven't had the advantages that you've had” (1). Importance: Though Nick is financially stable, he should stay humble and not criticize the less fortunate, and it is also a reference to Nick’s morals. His father states that Nick should not be arrogant and think about what he has and where he came from compared to others. Chapter Two: “He thinks she goes to see her sister in New York. He's so dumb he doesn't know he's alive” (29). Importance: George Wilson is oblivious to his wife’s affair. Also, Tom is cheating on Daisy, portraying that Tom is characterless. Chapter Three: “I am one of the few honest people that I have ever known”
These chapters led me into a dark reflection of who Jody truly was. He swooped me off my feet when I met his character, just like he swooped Janie off of hers. He made promises that seemed hopeful and sincere. However, through these chapters I felt as if I saw his true colors. He seemed to be just like the rest of the men. I hate to classify them and stereotype them, but he was not so charming after all.
1)The most crucial in the plot is when Nick came back to West Egg he was afraid that his house might be on fire. The wind was blowing power lines back and fourth. The fire was at Gatsby's house from town to cellar. Nick thought he was having some big party again.
2. Nick describes himself as not passing judgement onto other people. He claims that the reason he is not quick to judge others is because his father once told him that not everyone had the same advantages in their lives as he had.
Tom’s lower lip trembled. “It’s my fault,” he whispered, his eyes shiny with tears. “I was so young, and I didn't know how to stop...”
Foreshadowing – “ And there was the living room, signs of a struggle. I already knew Amy wasn’t phoning back.”(31) This gives the book a fairly dark twist, suggestion that the wife might be dead, or murdered.
Turning a corner, Tom slowed his pace as he approached his apartment building. Although he longed for the comfort of his home, the thought of facing Booker filled him with dread, the psychological burden weighing him down. Consequently, he purposely dragged his feet, delaying the confrontation and the inevitable argument. He’d reacted badly to the news of Booker's tape, and his guilt hung like a noose around his neck, waiting for the moment his mind yanked at the metaphorical rope, and the painful castigation crushed his airway. But while his remorse was real, his jealousy was a far bigger beast, a raging fire-breathing monster that easily dominated all other emotion. It was a deep-seated sensation that encompassed feelings of fear, rage, and
Cannery Row seems to do things that are not done anymore, especially in 2015. The town currently is far different then how Steinbeck describes. The town has strived (finally) from the book . Also Monterey CA is one of the most expensive part of CA.
20. “The docking module – which looked a lot like a giant version of a propane container you might hook up to your barbeque, only orange…” (Pg. 188) A simile is used to describe the docking module by comparing it to a propane container.
With that she leaned forward as James knelt behind her. Dmitry reached inside her nightstand and pulled out a bottle of lube. He tossed the oil to James so he could apply it to his dick.
Chpt.2- In the beginning of chapter two, Brian is in so much shock that he can’t even comprehend everything that’s happened. Even after Brian is coming out of the shock, he still realizes that there’s nothing he can do. He even states that it feels as if somebody is controlling him (his hands and arms are being lead). He thought of ways to help the pilot. The only thing that popped into his head was C.P.R. but he didn’t know how to do it. Brian then touched the pilot’s chest but felt no breathing, no heartbeat, no pulse, nothing. The plane was still going but it began to hit more and more turbulence as well as dive down more and more. Realizing that looking toward the pilot for help wasn’t an option, Brian had to do something because if he
She promised herself she wouldn’t get into anything complicated, but she deserved to have fun. And this man was fun.
To me, the first part of the book is really important. It made me want to read the book more, and I became more interested in each character. Because of this, both of the important passages that I picked are about the storked baby. In chapter eleven, “She looks at Connor. Still red, he intentionally avoids her gaze. The reason Connor gave was a lie. Something else drove him to run to that porch. But whatever the real reason was, Connor's keeping it to himself” (Shusterman 50). Once I read this sentence, I believed that Connor must has a really interesting background and experiences. I started to get interested in this character. And I personally think that the storked baby actually is the transition of the personalities of characters. Mostly,
Had Sal known that his parachute would fail to open, he probably wouldn’t have taken the sunset drop-the last drop of the day. Unfortunately, it was too late for regrets as he hurled toward an earth indifferent to his existence. No, this isn’t happening, he thought. This isn’t happening at all.
Every time i read this book,i would try my best to understand what attitude Bauby treated to
1) Huck moved in with Widow Dawson and Miss Watson they civilized him (tried too at least)
