As a naïve of Richmond City I have struggled through many obstacles. The biggest obstacle I have faced is observing the children in my family suffer from lack of parenting skills and as well as the absent of a figure in the home. From my personal experience, I did not grow up with my biological father in my household, but instead my grandparents stepped in to assist my mother with my upbringing. However, my grandfather dropped out of school in the third grade to work on a farm that his parents owned; without an education the only job he able to obtain and keep was a carpentry job, which he held for 65 years. My grandmother also dropped out of school in the twelfth grade and later returned to obtain her General Education Diploma (GED) and a Commercial Driver License (CDL) to help her obtain a position with a nursing home. Based on my observation I see that many of family members never got the opportunity to complete high school due to their environment or personal issues. When I was in the twelfth grade my little brother and baby cousin were born three months apart. From watching them both grow up I begin to notice they would ask me to read to them, help them with numbers and letters and now they’re learning to write. It amazes me how they both looked up to me as their role model; I never thought that I can be someone’s role model. I want to become an Occupational Therapist and I am taking the necessary steps to work towards my goal. As previously stated, I graduated from Open High School with an advanced studies diploma and now I am currently enrolled at Virginia Commonwealth University majoring in Science on the track of Occupational Therapy. With this degree, I will be able to provide everything possible for my siblings without worrying about the stress of student loans. I can’t imagine my life without
Throughout everyone's lifetime, one will confront an obstacle. Obstacles can obstruct or hinder one’s process. Most of the time obstacles have a negative a affect on people because of how difficult they can be. Not making a team, loss of a loved one, loss of a job are some examples of common obstacles that occur to many people. Obstacles are barriers that block people from pursuing what they want to do. They are present in every journey of our life, no matter how big or small. The importance of overcoming obstacles is learning new skills, determination and creating new opportunities.
The lessons we take from obstacles we encounter can be fundamental to later success. Recount a time when you faced a challenge, setback, or failure. How did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience?
Have you ever been scared to accomplish a challenge? I'm going to be talking about the time when I accomplished one of the challenges that I have always wanted to learn how to do. Some people that were involved or a whiteness of my accomplishment was my sister named Malina and my little cousin named Mazzy .
The obstacles that I went through was having to not think about my dad’s death and also when my mom got sick and she had to have 4 surgeries because she had arthritis.I was only 5 years old when my dad died he was out and saw his friend getting beat up and went to go get the guy off his friend and the other guy had a machete and stabbed my dad with it. That night my mom got a call from the police saying that my dad has been killed. I know I was young, but it was hard trying to get over the fact that I don’t have a dad anymore because of some guy who thought it was right to kill him. It was tough on my family we couldn’t get over it he died on my sister’s birthday that midnight. I tried a lot of things to forget about my dad’s death, but it just couldn’t help me. When i started getting older and older I just told myself that he is in a better place and that he is watching over us and not to
Starting my second semester in Modern I, I was really excited to see what new things I would learn and what new goals I needed to set for myself. I was definitely ready to push myself and work even harder than the semester before. During my second semester I set only two new goals and kept one from first semester. The two goals that I set included, getting stronger in my inversions and watching the alignment of my hip. The goal that I kept from last semester was making sure that I was coming to class alert and ready to work. After second semester mid-term, I started to work a lot on building strength in my arms. During class, Professor Hapke would always come over to me and fix my arms while I was in downward dog. To make sure I was gliding
There is so much suffering people have to deal with in this world. I believe we are given an obstacle we have to overcome. It just depends on the person’s inner strength and will to not give up and keep trying. Nancy proves this to be true she is different from others in her condition especially how she refers to herself as a cripple. Throughout the essay she writes about her experience and her journey with MS. The way she goes about it makes her readers not feel bad for her but to feel proud for her because she has not given up. Its shows us that she’s accepted the obstacle given to her and she is not giving up even knowing her illness doesn’t have a cure.
My life isn’t that appealing, I always imagined myself in better position that I am now, maybe living out of state somewhere with a boyfriend who loves me and a job that could sustain my college tuition. If you would have asked me at the age of eight what I wanted to be when I grew up, I would have said something on the line of “a Lawyer, Doctor, or even an Astronaut” but no one ever tells you how hard its going to be and how much debt you’ll be in at the age of twenty-five. From childhood to adulthood, everyone chooses a path, where they must overcome obstacles thrown at them. Obstacles in life make us who where are, they make us learn, and they predict how we will turn out. My obstacles consist of mental, physical, and social throughout my childhood, adolescence, and adulthood years which made me who I am today.
Each of my parents attempted to go to school at Augusta Tech when I was in seventh grade. When my mother had homework she would often have me do it. Needless to say, neither of them completed this second chance at an extended education. Everything listed above is what I do not want for myself in the future. I don’t want to nearly struggle to get by, working at a job that I hate. I don’t want to not be able to provide my children with internet access that they can use to do school work at home, so that they don’t have to
All throughout my life I loved to run; I even participated in track and cross country all throughout middle school to quench my thirst for a long run. Around the beginning of winter, of my junior year, there came a time when I thought I could no longer run. To further elaborate upon my situation, whenever I would do strenuous physical exercise, or even write in class, my muscles would instantly feel fatigued. It felt very similar to the feeling one gets when their hands have been outside in the frigid cold. I could not even do ten push-ups. Regardless, my muscles would not move as I would like them to. This became a painful obstacle in my daily life. After countless doctor's visits and no signs for a cure I felt hopeless, defeated, and disheartened.
Facing obstacles, it is an everyday challenge for some people. Mine was a baseball to my face, during my sophomore year of high school. It happened during class at the end of the day. Some kids were practicing for baseball tryouts outside the gym, which is where I had my class. The ball caught on with the wind causing it to change course, making the ball fly straight into my face, specifically my left eye. Two months later I was diagnosed legally blind. I was thrown so far off track that I lost myself.
My main plan to complete both my co-requisite and 111 English course is to do my assignments as soon as I can so I will have enough time and concentration to do them. This plan is the same for the time I plan on working on the final writing assignments for each course. But as every aim, you always have to face obstacles if you want to achieve your goal. Thus, the obstacle that has already been presented is the lack of time due to the fact that I often wait until the minute to do my assignments because I spend most of my time doing unimportant things instead of doing important things, such as my assignments. Another obstacle is as English is not my mother-tongue, I struggle to make constructive sentences and comprehensive essays and this problem
From personal experience, any obstacle or disadvantage can be used for something good. When I was a high school senior, I broke my wrist playing basketball right before state playoffs. It devastated me and my team. For a sports enthusiast like me, this injury was a major setback. Through this experience, I became a better team captain by raising moral from the bench dispite not being able to play. Life will always come with obstacles but we must determine whether we want to use the obstacles to fuel greatness or disappointments. This paper will discuss people throughout history that have used their personal struggles and setbacks to achieve something great.
“The smile on my face doesn't mean my life is perfect, it just means I appreciate what I have and what God has blessed me with” The unknown person once said. That quote really ties into the character named Quarta from the book named “The Girl Born Who Was Born With Only 2 Arms And 2 legs,” because Quarta has only two arms and two legs which is different. People need to give her another chance and stop underestimating her.
Throughout life, many individuals encounter things in their life that they find difficult to overcome. Many of which overcome such obstacles quickly, while others fail to overcome them at all or at least it takes them a much longer time to do so. I fall into the third type of individual.
Obstacles are something everyone has in their life. Some may have you thinking that the world is coming to an end. Everyone has this feeling one time or another. Once you overcome a difficult time there is no other feeling like it. The truth behind obstacles is that they only make you stronger. What might seem like the worst day of your life might just teach you the most important lesson. Complicated times help you learn from your mistakes and make you an overall better person. About 7 months ago, a night that seemed like a nightmare, turned into an eye opener to our whole family.
