Pearl Bank Apartments (PBA) was chosen as a case study because it is the first multi-strata private development to volunteer its building for conservation. The case study is interesting because it breaks the conventional fight between the government and public as seen in the old National Library’s case. Additionally, the case study would highlight the current consciousness of conservation within Singaporeans, and the success of VC project is vital in heralding a new chapter into Singapore’s efforts in built heritage conservation. Hence, the dissertation has delved into the various stakeholder’s feelings, opinions and thoughts to understand their motivation towards modern architecture conservation. For instance, CAP Yeo Kang Shua recommended that the LCM should look into an open access policy by converting a few units of different typology into galleries or organise guided heritage tours at stipulated timings. Furthermore, these galleries could also act as space for owners to reminisce and learn about the history of their property, which may heighten their connection and pride towards it. Additionally, LCM could also take inspiration from its neighbours such as the Pinnacle@Duxton for opening up its sky garden to the public at an affordable entry fee. Since PBA boasts a beautiful panoramic view of Singapore, hence they could convert its existing rooftop into a sky garden or propose that the new green tower would be open to public access with a price. All in all, showing the government the public good in PBA could be another way in achieving the conservation status for PBA. Lastly, in light of the importance of land lease in private developments, MND and URA could look into value adding their VC initiative for multi-strata private developments by teaming up with SLA to include land-lease extension if the building is worthy of
Architecture was born to serve the essential needs of human life. But architecture is not simply a function, capabilities such as objects, objects. The existence of the same architecture of human life has created the spiritual values. Architecture itself has aesthetic value, artistic value is part of the factors. There are small works, with the ancient architecture, over hundreds of years still exist. Many buildings that were built with permanent materials, not too stable structural, mechanical and material in its original meaning; but it still exists, and shine. Conversely, can sustainable building structures, sustainable beauty is destroyed by other factors, such as planning, or administrative guidelines on the management of any construction or it be eliminated by bringing the non-human elements, without the support and consensus of the community.
Being environmentally friendly isn’t merely a trend. After thousands of years of using the earth’s resources, we have finally come to realize that we are destroying this beautiful gift we were honored with. Architects play an influential role in trying to preserve this gift by encouraging a multitude of strategies that can be more cost efficient in the long run, be more comfortable for its users, and most importantly, have a lower carbon footprint. Strategies can include drastic changes to heat and air systems, construction material selections, or even specific design details to the architecture of a building that would reduce the amount of energy it consumes.
The Peninsula Open Space Trust was primarily funded through donations and bought its first land in Portola Valley. The District is still growing, by adding more properties, but purchasing property that people may not want to sell has probably never been a “walk in the park.” Over the past decades there have been serious challenges to some of the agency’s moves, and sometimes they have overstepped, but walking through some of the opens spaces that have been preserved… well, that would take a book to describe. It is interesting to note, however, that at the same time land was being taken by eminent domain for roads and freeways, it was also being taken for relief from those roads and freeways.

I noticed damage to the front fender of the victim's vehicle. The offender was off scene prior to my arrival. Officer's then attempted to make contact with the owner of the vehicle. Officer's were unable to make contact with the

Leon Krier was criticised for publishing a costly monograph on Albert Speer’s architecture (1985)in which, while acknowledging the crimes of the Nazis and the man, Krier nonetheless claimed the book’s only subject and sole justification was “Classical architecture and the passion of building” (cited by Jaskot, ‘Architecture of Oppression’, 2000). Discuss this claim, the controversy and the issues (historical, philosophical and ethical and possibly others) they raise. Can architecture, Classical, Modern or otherwise, be autonomous from politics and valued independently of the circumstances of politics and history that adhere to it?

Often a refresh is the first step in advocating for a building’s potential. “Cleaning a building shows people that you care,” said Sarah Holder. Both the actual and perceived value of the building is raised. Hidden gems are exposed, as the architecture’s best assets are revealed in a better light. And, significantly, it is the exterior that is the first to impress, the first to send the message that a property is worth the investment. Holder attributes this heightened perceived value as a the positive impact of a “clean, smiling face.”

This paper will attempt to argue why the act of preserving and restoring historic structures is a much better option than demolishing them. The essay will use the powerful tool of reliable and relevant sources to support the essay’s claim about historic restoration. In addition, this argument will present the opposition’s claims and why they may or may not be correct in the process of improving a historic structure. The essay will separate the ideological differences between demolishing structures and restoring them. Initially, this paper will introduce the main underlying problem with the opposing argument. Then, the paper will establish two main points as to why the restoring of these historic structures is a much better option.
