Thanks to my lack of interest in reading, sitting down are reading a full story has become a difficult task. The stories that captivate my attention and hook me in have to be full of action, mythical creatures, and relatable characters. Rick Riordan’s book “Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief” really hooked me in as there was a lot of description and he was able to bring Greek Mythology to the modern world. For example, Percy Jackson, the main character in the novel, goes on and adventure with his friends into the underworld to meet Hades, a Greek God. As I was reading I was able to picture his journey and the setting around him. Riordan also made sure that there were lessons to be learned in the adventures Percy Jackson was going through and he implemented these lessons by using symbolism. I ended up reading the whole book in a week. Not only did I read that whole book, but I continued to read the rest of the six-book series. In addition, I also enjoyed reading “The Hunger Games” by Suzanne Collins because I like reading about the struggle and conflict the Katniss Everdeen, the main character, had to go through, and how she was able to solve said struggle. Katniss had to become an adult early in her life because she had to take care of her sister and she had to lead the people that lived in her district. In a way, “The Hunger Games” was kind of like a coming of age novel, which is another reason I enjoyed the book. I was able to relate to the basic
