I have always been proud of my reasoning process and my planning ability. These skills failed me once, however, for I abruptly decided one day to double major in Economics with no rational reason. I owe that to Fadhel since he pushed me into this endeavor. I met him when I started volunteering at the Red Crescent during Ramadan. Every year during this holy month, I spend my nights preparing dinner, washing dishes and lending my ear to the unfortunate. When I hear their depressing stories I try to lighten up their spirits with kind words. Fadhel was the first to point out the emptiness of my words: “By god, those words are as empty as my belly, so spare me that talk and give some broth, kid”. Despite his vulgar language, I admired his candor …show more content…
He used to own two supermarkets at some point, and was renovating his first supermarket when the recession hit our economy. Banks wouldn’t lend him money so he borrowed at a tremendous interest rate from local gangs. He was able to keep paying them until the revolution. Then, his second supermarket was pillaged during the instability of the Arab Spring and the insurance company dismissed his claims. With his only source of revenue gone, Fadhel had no other choice but to sell all of his assets to repay his debts and started living in the streets afterwards. Moreover, his master’s degree in Business couldn’t land him a job, so he remained an outcast of society and blamed the economy for his …show more content…
I learned later that it was Fadhel. I may not have promised him to change our economic situation, yet I vowed to try. Today I am attempting to attend Cornell to seize a better opportunity to save my people. I want to take macroeconomics electives that are more adequate to my objectives while fulfilling my dream of becoming a high energy experimentalist. Finally, I want to surround myself with people who want to change their community, so I can learn from them and honor his
My decision to go back to school in the fall of 2012 was one of the hardest decisions I have ever made. I’m a stay at home mom of 4 boys with 2 of them being special needs. My oldest was born with a rare genetic condition called hereditary spastic paraplegia and my youngest son was born with a rare condition called Dravet Syndrome that requires 24/7 care. I was at a point in my life where I had lost my identity of who I was and I wanted to be me again. I made that important decision to go back to school for myself with the fear of how I was going to do it, but I knew that it was right. It took me 3 years to complete my AS but with the support of my husband and kids I was able to receive my degree. I worked hard and was able to juggle being
Everything in life happens for a reason. Every experience, whether it be good or bad, can teach a lesson. We all have to deal with mistakes, tragedies, and failures. Being able to learn from them is an essential principle for personal and professional growth. Our experiences add character to our personalities and mold us into who we are. They can make or break a person. For me, it was both. I believe that the lessons I learned through my mistakes have prepared me in becoming an accurate representation of what it means to be a Price College of Business student.
On the first day of school this year I was asked what my goal for the year was. Instead of responding saying my goal was to earn good grades, or improve my GPA, I said that my goal was to learn. Not to memorize, take a test, and forget, but to really learn and understand the material. A high school course that I consider to be the most meaningful to me is my AP Macro/Micro Economics class. The internal values I reflected upon above are my main motivators for the class. Before signing up for the class I heard negatives reviews from past students, saying that the class was quite challenging and there was a great deal of work. However, this did not deter me, as I was, and continue to be, interested in learning the subject. So far this class has
For the past four years, the stress of applying to college has been affecting me along with hundreds of thousands of other students. Trying to prepare for college is like studying for a test that you don’t know the subject of. It seems that everyone I talk to has a different opinion on which colleges to apply to and what I need to do with my life. Being that there are such a diverse array of beliefs on the topic, I chose to mostly ignore any advice given to me. That being said, I couldn’t ignore the article I read two years ago analyzing the necessity of college, or rather, the lack of it. It stated that with the expanse of knowledge available through other sources such as the internet, the cost of college is not worth the educational benefit. Now, simply choosing to rid myself of the stress of college seemed like a great idea at the time, but
I went through a lot in life as a child. Growing up was not easy as a kid ( especially
First and foremost, no matter what, I will complete the remaining 10-12 classes in order to get my BS in business. The road to earning this degree has been long and tedious – through single-parenting hardships, surgeries, and grandchildren – nonetheless, I move forward. Another goal currently in progress is to engage in the successful launch of a protocol that I have written. After completing the final touches with the copyright office, the marketing process will begin. Currently, it is under review with the Commission to Eliminate Child Abuse, Neglect, and Fatalities, and My Florida Market Place has accepted me as a vendor. This protocol was created to keep third party agency social workers in compliance because the ‘in-house quality control’

Concordia College NY is one of the best small stabilized school i believe anyone can ever go to. Concordia may be small, but it has all aspects to fulfill your college experience and have the best four years ever. It has all types of majors, for instance, biology, business, and one of the best nursing programs. Concordia is a division 2 school that is pretty good in all athletics provided. Why am I here at Concordia? Since I was in high school, I never really wanted to go to a big or humungous school, but i wanted to go to a good school that was high leveled in the major of psychology, and i wanted to gain the opportunity to play for a good basketball team, and I wanted to go division 2. However, Concordia College was the perfect fit for me. Concordia provides many opportunities for you to learn new things everyday with its amazing facilities as well as meeting new people.
According to the National Center for Education, about 80 percent of the students in the United States end up changing their major at least once. In fact, I myself am part of that 80 percent. Not only did I change my major, I changed Universities in order to discover who I’am and find a suitable career for me.
I learned in the “banking approach”. I had an English teacher who always made us do multiple essays for homework and I noticed that he never read them. I felt like I was not learning anything because I did not receive a graded paper back, until I asked him why he made us do work that will not take us anywhere. I was desperately to learn, and I needed it because English is not my first language. When I talked to him, I noticed that he smell like alcohol and that’s when I quit the class which was not taking me anywhere.
I am a Business Admin major. With this major I hope to proceed into law school and thereafter become a corporate lawyer.
I developed a relationship with my professors by making appointments when I need help or sending emails. Just like your daughter spoke with the TA’s I do went to my TA’s for assistance but it was never very often. I would rather interact with the professor instead of the TA. As for the staff, I worked in the financial aid office at my institution which made it super easy to understand my financial aid. The admissions office is also in the same building so whenever I had a question I would just walk-in and ask. I never had a problem seeing my academic advisor, because I always made a point of actually communicating with him or her. The reason I had no issues attending a large institution and developed a good relationship with my professors
Every day, without fail, my dad would ask me, “What school do you want to go to?” as if I was expected to figure it out overnight. I didn’t understand what made one school stand out over another. Every school I visited seemed to blend in, I liked them all, but these four years will impact the rest of my life, what if I were to choose the wrong one? One day, while I was visiting my sister in the city, we walked past NYU, and she said that it could be a good school to look into. After looking into it, I realized that it is one of the top business schools in the country. Ever since I took my first accounting class in tenth grade, I knew that was what I wanted to major in, so I became extremely interested in this school. I knew I needed to get
