I have been thinking of my former Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) classmate, Karen Buckley, whose life was tragically taken earlier this year. The person accused of her murder has finally admitted in a court of law he took her life. While sentencing has been deferred until a later date, I am confident justice will be served. My former classmate Kathryn summed up what I think many of us feel. “Karen was lovely, kind, funny and generous, who only wanted to help other people. I don't understand why monsters exist in this world - for him to make a decision to take the life of a wonderful person like Karen is impossible to comprehend, but he will now have to face the consequences. He took her away from her family and friends, on purpose and

So after 10 month in prison and year and a half after she shot her husband to death, the moment has arrived, and Carmela is going to hear her fate. Like I mansion it all started half and a year ago, when Carmela shot her husband, or if to be more precise it started even earlier, when Carmela just got married to her husband, which abused her, humiliate her and made her life miserable, what leave's her no choice, and made her kill him.

I have had many great mentors that have stood out in my life thus far, but I have one lady that really stands out. Her name is Tina; I know her better as Ms. Hicks. She is a kindergarten teacher and Glee Club director at the middle school I attended. I came to know her really well when I joined the Glee Club my sixth grade year. She is so selfless and always puts others before herself. I just began watching her one day and realized that I wanted to be just like her. I began to volunteer in her classroom the last period of the day because I want to be an elementary school teacher as well. I decided why not learn form the best. Throughout the year, I learned so much from her. She taught me that students can learn and have fun while they
“If, when you’re older, someone comes knocking on your door asking you some heated questions that you’re not sure how to answer, just stop and say “I want an attorney” and they’ll have to provide you with one as a basic right,” she stressed.
The man who murdered her was never identified, until 2016. The case was submitted to a forensic lab and two brothers were identified. One of which was killed in an accident, so DNA samples were collected from the remaining brother and family. The man was identified and sentenced, the family was put at ease knowing their loved one’s killer would not be able to do this to anyone else (Dumanis, 2017). This case goes to show that cases that have been closed for many years, twenty-five in this case, can still be

One of my best friends, Sydney Lane, is a girl who had lived in Colorado Springs, CO her whole life and when she graduated last spring, she decided to take a gap year. We had discussed our mutual interest in traveling, but we were not sure about how to find the opportunities. However, she took the initiative to become a part of multiple programs and go completely out of her comfort zone. Leading up to the day she left, she was terrified of leaving what she had been accustomed to. She left in September, afraid, and the next thing I heard she was having the best experiences of her life. Sydney blossomed from someone who survived on grilled cheese and hung out with a close group of friends, to a girl enlightened by the world- all within a few
Patience is wearing thin , the shocking moment is almost here. Then a miracle happens! A beautiful brown eyed baby is born into this world.
“Although some practitioners see Wicca as the revival of an ancient tradition, it can also be described as a new religion focused on empowering women to create positive change. And although not all ecofeminists would characterize their movement as religious, it does have a spiritual dimension insofar as it holds the natural world to be sacred. All the movements and practices discussed here envision women as central; in addition, unlike many more traditional religions, none of them consider women to be evil or stupid. Yet no two of them see women in exactly the same way.”(Anderson, 295).

Illegal immigrants should be allowed to stay in America. According to the dictionary definition, an illegal immigrant also known as an illegal alien is “a foreigner who enters a country without an entry or immigrant visa, especially a person who crosses the border by avoiding inspection or who overstays the period of time allowed as a visitor, tourist, or businessperson”. From Renewing America, the U.S. immigration debate “Immigration has been a touchstone of the U.S. political debate for decades, as policymakers must weigh competing for economic, security, and humanitarian concerns. Congress has been unable to reach an agreement on comprehensive immigration reform for years, effectively moving some major policy decisions into the executive and judicial branches of government, and fueling debate in the halls of state and municipal governments. Meanwhile, the fates of an estimated eleven million undocumented immigrants in the country, as well as rules for legal immigration, lie in the balance”(Felter and Renwick). There are many arguments that support allowing illegal immigrants into America, because of this immigration has been a controversial issue for over so many years. According to SIRS knowledge source, some would argue that “unauthorized immigrants should be detained and deported for flouting the law”, but on the other side, people would disagree with these accusations because, but “the vast majority of unauthorized immigrants are hard-working individuals in search
