Personal Narrative: Moving To Texas

Knowing how to adapt to change has been, perhaps, the most supportive characteristic in my life. My experience moving to Texas was a huge challenge which I had trouble overcoming. I lost friends, an amazing environment, and also the future I had planned for myself while living in Minnesota. Through that life-changing event though, I did come across pleasant change. My relationship with God became more concrete, and I was given new opportunities for my future. Although I did not understand it at the time, my relocation improved my education quality, turned me into a better person, and gave a new outlook to my walk with God

Bright clear white snow on the ground for almost half the year, fireplaces roaring in every home, drinking hot chocolate while reading an interesting book. These were all experiences and sights that had been well accepted and standard where I formerly subsisted. However, the hot summers of Texas differ greatly compared to the frozen state of Minnesota. I learned to dress myself differently depending on which season it is. All of the snow gear we owned has been given away for others to use. I enjoyed snow and the crisp air we received in the North. The church that we used to attend -Wooddale Baptist- was a mega church just outside of St. Paul, Minnesota. Every Sunday, I had the same schedule consisting of Sunday School, snack time, and then “Big Church,” which was with the adults. Due to the unthinkable amount of kids, I was never given the opportunity to make anything more than acquaintances. Every Sunday it felt like I met someone new, plus I only got to know their surface layer identity. Once we started at my new church, Aldersgate Church, my social and religious outlook improved. Starting on the first Sunday, my family and I had made plenty of good friends. We even had dinner plans with two strange families after church that night! Little did we know that these two families became the most supportive and trusted people we would ever meet. Also, the small community within the church and the pastor inspired me to grow in my faith than ever before. I began to enjoy Sunday school, and understand the lessons. Exchanging churches changed the way I worshipped God, and gave me the chance to meet new
