Furthermore, in my experience with the CLPS, I have experienced what professional power is for the DOJ through receiving various trainings, having to read the code of ethics, having to use certain templates and adapting my writing style according to the DOJ policies. Evetts (2006) explains that it is these trainings which professionalization occurs (p.139). Thus, the trainings and policies in place for CLPS employees is to maintain that all employees can perform the mandated tasks in an appropriate manner. Moreover, the expertise of the section usually lies on the lawyers, because CLPS is made-up of primarily lawyers than criminologists. However, this has not prevented or discredited the work that I have been doing in the placement, as I have
Four or Five years ago if you were to tell me that I would be confidently applying to the University of Miami I would have laughed. Through high school I did not give much effort and like most of my peers, thought that furthering my education was my only option. Nearing the end of my senior year I started realizing that no noteworthy university would even consider accepting someone like me. As the days ticked away, I applied to a nearby college with an incredibly high acceptance rate and found myself opening an acceptance letter a few weeks later.
Late November I made a mistake that has now made my college workload immense. While attending the University of Nebraska at Kearney as a full-time student, alongside with an internship at the Kearney Area Community Foundation, working fifteen hours a week, teaching swimming lessons at the Y along with subbing as a guard, society may image my schedule is booked. Although, in my past, I have made many respectable decisions and I have made poor ones, ultimately learning right from wrong. Provided, the circumstances of my MIP could have been easily avoided if I would have used common sense, for example not consuming alcohol beverages on campus. Now, with a Minor in Possession on my record, for the time being, I have realized the impact this incident has had on my academics, personal life, and countless other circumstances dealing with my everyday life.
Put the gun down! Put the gun down! Pow Pow Pow. The gun shots cracked into the air as loud as thunder. One after another. We live day by day not knowing our end. In the blink of an eye our lives can be changed forever. Its life, yet even in knowing this we never expect tragedy to find us. We never expect it to affect our lives and the people we know and love. I’m going to share with you the day tragedy found my life.

All training required for judges, public defenders and prosecutors require a law degree and membership in The American Bar Association in which the state they practice law in. The American Bar Association set professional standards for conduct and certification for lawyers starting in the 19th century (Gufaston& McClellon, 2012). A new model code of professional responsibility has mandated conduction of the procedures of trials that must conform to the core requirements of law set with specific standards (Pollock, 2014). For this very reason of non reliability in regards to set training standards of particular types of lawyers and established practice, Burger (1973) contended that how lawyers trained in and after law school, will ultimately dictate their proficiencies as counsel in our adversary criminal justice system. This will eventually decide the virtue and essence of our justice within the system of courts. With hardly any if not non existent live training in the court system, no required or developed standard is set strictly for attorneys’ and judges to complete; reassuring individual rights of citizens are upheld to the highest standards during the legal process, proving these law practitioners’ are truly proficient in conducting their vital positions as expected in the Constitutional performance of protecting people’s rights (Burger, 1973). The general public assumes that every graduate law student, merely through designation from the bar which then
This year started with many changes to my and the other paraprofessionals schedules. For the first month or so I didn’t know where I would be assigned for the day. I started out with Ms. Ireland and her crew of sixth graders. I was comfortable with this assignment because I was familiar with the students. Then we had the turnover of several paraprofessional positions. One left to pursue a different career, another didn’t come back after summer break and another just left. So we were down to a crew of five paraprofessionals when we started with eight. It took some adjustment and some new hires but we finally got to a “normal” schedule and we each knew where we were expected to be daily. (Most of the time)
The date was June 6, 1944, we woke up before Midnight and headed out. My team and I were a LCVP team and there were 36 of us on the LCVP. We were almost there; I yelled back to my team that there were two minutes until the door lowered on the LCVP. Some of them were crying and some were vomiting from sea sickness, but I was also scared because I saw two bunkers and I didn’t know what was in them. There could be .50 Caliber Machine Guns, although there could also be nothing. The bunkers could just be abandoned. We were one minute out until we lowered the door and then we were receiving heavy mortar fire and LCVP’s were sinking everywhere around us. We were also taking very heavy .50 Caliber fire, bullets were hitting the LCVP and bullets were flying into
life is sort of like a huge football game. I believe this because to win a football game it takes diligence, dedication and motivation. This is often true in life and so for , you need to work vigorous at what you are doing, and love what you do. It takes dedication because you would like to be a perfectionist at what you're doing otherwise you can never get anyplace in life. It additionally takes motivation as a result of what you require to possess the state of mind to begin something, and follow through, time after time, to get it right, even if it’s something I may not wish to have to do.
On 01-25-17 I responded to the above address. Upon arrival I observed an officer talking to Ciro Castro who was speaking through a brocken window in the door and he refused to come outside. I also saw Christine Young sitting on the ground in the neighbors yard talking to Ofc Matthews.
Hello everyone. I was born and raised in Puerto Rico. In 1987, my dad was working for IBM and was given an opportunity to move to United States. After a few months of debating and researching, my parents chose Knoxville as our new home. Four years later, I graduated from high school and enlisted in the Marine Corps. During my four years of service, I traveled from one side of the world to the other and saw and did things many people can’t even imagine. Tough as the work was at times, I wouldn’t trade that time for anything as it shaped my view of the world and, along with my family, became part of the foundation on which I built my life.
Looking back to the WODs something that I would like to change would be be doing them correctly, as during most of the WODs I was not able to do them correctly. In the future I would like to complete all my exercises correctly with our any mistake, as during WOD#2 I did not complete the rest for 60 seconds, as I was not that tired. For the mile I walked for 17 minutes as it was really hot, and i did not want to get tired easily, so I decided to walk. However in the future, I would like to run for 1 round, jog for another, and sprint for the last. So if i do the math I would be able to run one round for a 1 minute, jog for 1:30, so if we did 8 rounds it would take me around 9 minutes to complete the mile, which is really good for me, as my
Criminal justice professionals spend a lot of time resolving conflicts and negotiating with various parties inside and outside their organizations. They handle complaints, settle disputes, and resolve grievances and conflicts, usually by negotiating with several parties. Sometimes they perform this task in conjunction with another one, evaluating information to determine compliance, which requires them to review relevant information and use their individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.
I joined the Marine Corps looking for a challenge. I wanted to open doors for a new career and longed to have a positive impact on the world around me. Looking back five years later, I realize I found all that I originally sought, but I’ve also found something profoundly satisfying and meaningful that I never knew I was missing.
A patient experience that stands out as significant was the day my evening patient cancelled his or her appointment. On this day, I found a patient at the CSU. When I first approached this individual, he refused to go to the clinic. I explained to him that there is no cost for an assessment and that it is up to him to accept treatment or not. When he came in to the clinic, he looked nervous. I explained everything before starting the assessment to help him feel comfortable. After the assessment I told him about the findings. I explained to him what gingivitis is and what he can do as an individual to help bring his gums back to health. I talked to him about the consequences and the risks associated if he refused to decline treatment. He was
My most significant experience in my life is unforgettable. I was there with my sisters, my mom, and my dad. It was the most horrifying event that I have ever witnessed. The daunting image in my head is still clear as day, as though it happened yesterday. This event did not affect only me, but also my family. The story that I am about to tell you may change the way you see things and it may not. All I can say is, it
