A goal that I set for myself in the past is not continuing my education right after high school. I did not succeed with my goal as I did not set out to find the information that is needed to get financial help to achieve my goal. Coming from a migrant family, the responsibility we had was to help out the family, my parents did not speak English so my sister and I where the ones helping with translation for them. Being just recently graduated I did want to attend college but I did not want to leave my Mother and Father behind without the help my sister and I where to them, so my hopes with going off to college where placed on a standstill. I did not see the bigger picture, I did not see that by going off to college my parents would be fine
My College and Career goals include graduating college and getting a job. I wish to attend the University of Alabama. I plan to major in occupational therapy or speech therapy. After I graduate with my bachelor's degree I wish to get my master's degree. After I finish my schooling I want to receive a job that allows me to provide for my family. I wish to receive this job in my degree's field. After receiving this job I wish to improve to reach a leadership role.
I have taken many different college preparatory classes throughout my college career that include: Chemistry 1100, Chemistry 1111, AP English, Trigonometry, College Algebra, and Calculus. These classes are the most difficult I have taken and they are the most difficult the school offers. I believe that these classes have prepared me the best for my post-secondary education from what I learn around the subjects we are taught. To succeed in theses classes you need countless hours and focused effort towards studying. These classes have given me a insight to how I should study for college exams and tests. My Math and English courses will give me a head start when starting my first year of college during the intro period of classes. The courses
I have two major obstacles that I have overcome in my last three years of school. My first major obstacle is being able to graduate early, I’ll be the first student at Sheyenne to graduate in three years instead of four. It took a lot of hard work and focus, but with the help that I got from my teachers, I was able to do what I needed. I did two summers of summer school, and worked really hard on completing my all my history online. My second obstacle is getting my CNA licenses. It took a very long time, because I have a lot of testing anxiety. The two years I took getting my license was worth it all in the end, because I got to learn and practice new information. During the process I did give up on myself because I couldn’t pass the test,
It was a bright sunny day and I was ready to play. I was on the playground at recess. It was in April. I was on the monkey bars when my friend told me to jump down and she would catch me. My 3rd grade self thought it was a good idea and jumped. When i jumped from the bar, she moved. I slammed into the ground. I learned from this experience that you can’t trust everybody, not even your closest friends. No matter how much you know a person, you never know when they could change just in a second. Even if she moved because she was scared, or she wanted me to hit the ground, it doesn’t matter. Through it all I learned that you can’t give your just to everybody.
The one thing that holding me back from attending graduate school is the financial aspect. Because I attended a state-run university for undergraduate school, I was able to finance my education through scholarships and parental assistance. Since I don’t have any education-related debt, I am cautious of taking out large loans to pay for further education.
My post secondary goals involve going to a 4 year college and becoming an industrial engineer. Math and science are essential in any field of engineering. My passion for these subjects is reflected in my work key's scores. I earned gold for both applied mathematics and reading for information, and silver for locating information. Industrial engineers should know how to set up and solve problems , read graphs and how to read directions. Based on my scores, I believe I can excel in engineering.
Since this is my second time going to college my expectations a really different from the first go around over ten years ago. Going back to college after so many years will be a huge change and will take a lot of discipline to set for myself. I am here to find a career field I think best suits my family life style and me.
The day has finally arrived where I need to make a decision on what I am going to do with my future and how I am planning to get there. Currently, I work for world's leading producer and marketer of concentrated phosphate and potash. Even though I make a living that provides my family with a respectable life, it’s never been the job that I aspired to do for the remaining years of my life. After contemplating several different options I decided the most beneficial one would be to return to college. I always knew returning to college was achievable; however, as each year of my life sped by and I got older, I always came up with more and more excuses as to why I could not return to school. As an adult student I have various responsibilities to
What was the obstacle I overcame during my educational journey? Well, it all started out when I was merely six years old when my mother and I discovered pink and white, flaky patches appearing on my elbows and knees. They were painful, itching, and would bleed whenever I couldn’t fight the urge to not itch them anymore or they became too dry and would crack. My mother decided to schedule a Dermatologist appointment for me to finally answer the question we both had, which was: “What is this?” From the day my mother and I noticed the patches on my skin, it had spread from my scalp to the bottoms of my feet, resulting in my whole body being covered with whatever this was – even my eyelids. The day of the appointment, we received our answer and I was diagnosed with serve Psoriasis – the worst case my Dermatologist had seen in a child or adult in all his years of practice – and it wasn’t just one type. I had both Plaque Psoriasis – which affects most of your body – and Guttate Psoriasis – which affects the scalp, neck, upper arms, and thighs. From that day on I was given multiple topical creams, ointments,
These words muttered by my Dad throughout my life have echoed through my mind ever since I can remember. Growing up, I always found myself wish I could have things. You know, like every kid. Instead of being told “No you can’t have that.” or “It’s too expensive.” I was met with my Dad chuckling and looking down to me uttering this sentence.
After I got diagnosed with scoliosis at the beginning of my sophomore year in high school, I was advised that there were now specific activities that I needed to stay away from so that my curvature would not grow in degrees. One might think that this consumed my mind and drove me to agony; nonetheless, it was surprisingly the time of my life where I actually gained an understanding of what I wanted to do after college, and for the rest of my life. Throughout all my visits at Shriners Hospital for Children, a nurse practitioner worked with me not only to improve my diagnosis, but also to truly educate me on my condition. At that moment, I realized she had great importance and many people relied on her for their well-being; undeniably, this prompted
I really started to go and develop in the 7th grade. I started to take school seriously. Before the 7th grade, I did care about school but I wasn’t serious about it. I used to mess around with friends in class, do my work sloppy, and not taking time to study outside of school. When 7th grade started, I told myself that i gotta focus on my education because it will prep me for the following school years and develop good habits. During the year, I put school as a higher priority than other things like video games and sports. My grades were good except the one C grade I had in English class. Overall the next two years my grades were great, I had only A’s and B’s in my classes. Once I entered my sophomore year at Puyallup High School, my focus
With being the first in my family to go to college the obvious goal for me is to graduate on time and obtain a degree. However my goals are more than just graduating. My goals for college is to graduate on the Dean’s List, and becoming active in my community; My goals after college is to be able to operate several small businesses, take care of my family, give back to my community, and buy my mom a house.
My goals after college include getting a doctorate in Veterinary Medicine and serving and supporting the community. I plan to achieve these goals by keeping my perseverance up and not giving up when times get tough. I am persuaded that people around me and academic achievements will get me one step closer to by goals. I am keeping a 4.0 gpa and currently in the top ten percent of my class, however I will continue to push myself to do better. Throughout high school, I have grown closer to the community as a whole by participating in volunteer work. Volunteering has helped me mentally reduce stress and has brought fulfillment to my life. I enjoy every moment of volunteering, because the joy and happiness in others lives are the most priceless
classes to support my own learning and looking for the right resources. Supportive is that my husband can teach me the language without attending a language class and that I can learn and improve by talking to him. I am planning to learn once a week for two hours.
