It was the day after my sister's Quinceanera, and all my family was here. They were leaving back to their homes Monday morning, so keep in mind it is Sunday. All of our parents were talking outside and saw that us kids didn’t really have anything to do, so they decide to take us to a river that was 5 minutes away from my aunt's ranch. We packed up all our food and stuff and went right away. It was still morning when we got there so we had all day to play and mess around. When we got all the stuff out the car we went to go find a spot. While we were looking we were already so excited, anyways when we found a spot we put some blankets on the floor, set our chairs up, and put all the food on the tables. Us kids all went to the bathrooms
For my cultural plunge activity, I got to attend a Quinceanera with one of my friends. A Quinceanera is a Hispanic cultural celebration of womanhood. When a girl turns fifteen, they throw a party to celebrate their coming of age. There are many traditions for this day of celebration, such as, dancing, food, religious ceremony, family, and friends. During this cultural plunge, I got to speak to a Hispanic woman who explained some of her personal memories of being an immigrant in America and her journey here.
I was no longer considered a child on March 29, 2014 when I had celebrated my Quinceañera among family and friends.
One early morning me and my family went to mexico.WE were on the road for two days.Once we were at my grandma's house me and my brother went to look at my aunt and uncle's horses. In mexico it was a lot of fun reiding horses and watching my unkles rope. One other fun thing to do was driving motorcicle and playing with the dog’s.
I sat there nervous , thinking this is it I have to do this ,It's now or never . I can feel the sweat coming down my forehead ,my hands also sweaty as I gripped the steering wheel. My shot at getting my drivers license was finally here . I can feel the driving instructor watch my every move . But let's go back a couple of weeks to the one day I decided I was ready to get behind the wheel . My 15th birthday , in my culture when a girl turns 15 they are coming into adult hood and there is a big celebration called Quinceañera. I was not to happy with the celebration all I really wished for was to have my own car . My parents on the other and it being tradition they didn't really ask for my opinion . After all what teenage girl didn't want to have
It was in the summer of 1999 when my family decided to take a camping trip to Colorado. I was a typical 15 year old high school student, which meant family vacations were "lame" in my eyes.
We went to Splash Mountain as a group. It was boring at first having to wait in lines for almost an hour. When we finally got to the post I felt the mists of water spraying lightly on our faces. My family got to sit by each other I was split up and had to sit by a stranger. It was dark when you walked in the cart, little lights flickered just enough so you could see the robots narrating the story.
The first time I went to camp. My grandpap has a hunting camp in Clearfield and took my cousins and I up there for the weekend. It was the funniest weekend I’ve ever had, we went went turkey hunting one day, and fishing the next day. It was a good guys weekend. Every night we would have a fire and cook on it. We would cook wings, pizza, steak and fish. The fish was my favorite. The worst thing about camp is the beds are in the same room so when we go to bed I could hear my pap snoring so I didn’t get that much sleep. Every morning I would wake up too a very good smell of breakfast cooking and I would go out and eat and wait till everyone got up. Then when everyone was up we would go in the woods and squarl hunt until lunch time. When it was
The summer before I went into the sixth grade my mom took my two sisters Natalie and Liberty, my brother Derek and I to Chicago for a family trip. We drove for a long 8 hours. My mom picked Chicago because that is where she was born and raised. She also wanted us to know where she lived and know about her childhood. When we arrived in Chicago, the first thing we did was go to the neighborhood my mom lived in with her adopted family and where my grandparents lived. My mom cried a little because it had been so long since she had visited her old house. After that we went and checked into our hotel and went to dinner at a steakhouse. Then once we were done eating we went to a car show.
When I was younger around the age of 8-10. I think it was an a saturday and I was playing pokemon on my silver Gameboy. Mom then came in the room and explain to me that we were going to my grandma Agar’s house to go swim in their huge clear cold water pool and eat at favorable cook out. But my mom also said I had to keep my Gameboy trapped at home, that broke my tiny heart . So we arrive at my grandparents big white house, I also see all of my family and my grandparents eyes as they followed our car while pulling into the large drive in.
After biking, climbing waterfalls and zip lining in Quebec my cousin and I flew to Florida together, where her and her family lives. We stayed at her house for a couple of weeks with my three other cousins and then drove to Amelia island to stay at my grandparents beach house. Every day we would head down to the beach at around 7am after staying up all night watching all the jaws movies. We would boogie board all day, taking a small break for lunch downtown at the cute little deli. We would finally head up to the house at around 4pm to cook an awesome dinner and binge watch more jaws movies and the tv series the walking dead. I got super close to my cousins over that summer and made so many great
It was Christmas break and my family was on vacation in Belize, a small country near Mexico and Guatemala. We were spending seven days in the jungle at a resort and then we would go to the islands for seven more days.
November 2005 when I was 8 years old me, my family and my teammates traveled to Austin, Texas for a cheerleading competition. It was our very first time in Austin so everyone was very excited. The sky was a grayish color so it looked gloomy. The wind was cool and crisp so we all had jackets, blue jean pants, and tennis shoes to protect us. After we got unpacked and settled at our hotel we wanted to go and explore the city. We all decided to go to the mall before we start practicing for the completion that was in two days.
We went canoeing for a little while. Nicole and I were in the same canoe. My other cousin, Natalie and Mike were on the same team. We had a race to see who can get from one side of the lake to the other. Nicole and I were winning until they tipped our canoe over. We fell into the ice cold water and could not get back onto the canoe without falling again. We got out of the lake and our shoes were all covered in seaweed and other unpleasant things. Later, we went white water rafting. This was my personal favorite event out of my entire trip. My cousin Nicole and I sat in the front of the raft. These two seats were the ones that obtained the most splash. During the one to two hour of rafting, we were attacked by giant waves. Every few minutes, we would be bulldozed with the freezing water. It was so intense because there were many small waterfalls. We almost fell off the raft!! By the end of our adventure, we were soaked. This event drained all our energy out. We went to our hotel and ate at an Italian restaurant. Our hotel had five king size beds, perfect because all of us got one. We slept like pigs throughout the whole
some bounce houses and did some other fun activities. My favorite thing was the tubes and the pond because the tubes had some cameras and a small soccer and basketball place in the middle and the pond is the most fun thing I did lots of stuff I like church
When I was in third grade, my sister and my dad went to drive up to our lake house in Pennsylvania on my dad’s motorcycle. They left early in the morning and they
