Personal Narrative: The Last Year Of High School

Going through high school the days were all the same, except for game days. There was just something different about the culture of the school. You could almost feel the excitement in the air. Every “Good luck tonight,” that was received made it feel like the whole school was rooting for me. This was my senior year and tonight was an especially big game. The game that night would decide if we made playoffs and if I could step on the court as a Hawk again.

Junior year. My junior year I realized things about myself that I hadn’t previously known. Things I’ve never done before and things people thought I couldn’t do. Situations I thought I wouldn’t be in and there I was. Junior year, I did it.

Yearbook has become a huge chunk of my time every single day at school. I attend yearbook meetings and camps, create all types of lists and spreadsheets, organize and assign everything to staff members, but every single task is worth it. Thanks to all of my hard work and dedication, I climbed my way up from staffer to the most successful job of chief editor. I was able to gain outstanding people and communication skills along with writing skills. I have watched myself grow from a ball of anxiety and nerves to a confident and determined chief editor. Unlike everyday classes, yearbook has helped me to successfully learn about different people and life skills that I will be able to utilize in anything I am a part of whether it's college, a career, or even daily conversations. Anytime I am able to complete a task by a deadline or talk to a complete stranger, my heart will be content knowing that I am able to have success in so many different ways thanks to my unforgettable yearbook

I honestly wouldn’t change anything about my lifestyle or how my years of high school have gone because I am truly happy with the person I have become. I might change my freshman year only because I didn’t really pay attention like I should have. I slacked a lot my freshman year and I now realize after the rest of my years at school, it really has been a struggle trying to get everything caught up. But now during my senior year I feel like I’m doing just fine and I am making it to the end okay. I have learned a lot throughout theses last 4 years of high school, I learned that high school goes by super fast and you really don’t get chances to redo any of the years. With the end of middle school in sight, I have done lots and lots of thinking. I have been thinking about how I got her . I don’t think I would be here today without my grandma. Now, that might seem funny, but it’s true. She was there for me. Whether it was when we were together, or calling me to make sure I was okay after I had a hard day. Unlike some of the people around me she saw me as a kid who just made a mistake when I got suspended. While others saw me as a kid who was only going to fail. She made me feel better about myself during the times that I really didn’t. My middle school teachers also helped me through middle school Mr. Genco taught me that school was a fun place to be at. He taught me that it wasn’t stupid rather an enjoyable

The summer of 2012 was the start of the downward spiral into my high school career. This ass hole guy decided to dump me and my dumb ass kept going after him when I know I shouldn’t have so I got hella drunk one night (as a 14 year old) and made this hilarious video with my bff that people hated apparently even though we looked hot. And so we got kicked out of cheer lol. Stupid mrs hatfield even had the vid on her phone like wtf lol. So yeah great start to high school.

Back within seventh grade towards the start of the school year I was put into a course called "Advanced Art" and I sat with a friend. My friend, Javier, wasn't suppose to have the class so he was sure to leave within weeks. During the time with him I noticed this big group of friends that seemed quite interesting to me. Around the time when he had his classes changed the song "Wrecking Ball" by Miley Cyrus came along and I drew a funny picture about it. I introduced myself into the big group and at first they seemed off about me but then they accepted me, especially this one girl named Tiffany. We had a few classes together so we would sit together and this was a start of a story of best friends.

The fall of 2005, marked the first I was assaulted by student. Classes were passing and I was in the hallway moving students along. I informed a student named Jimmy he need to go to class. Jimmy ignored me and continue to lean on wall talking to his friends. I informed Jimmy again he had to go class. Jimmy told me get out his face. Nonetheless, I persisted in Jimmy to go to class. Instead of going to class Jimmy walked up me and pushed me to the floor. Shocked and humiliated I pulled myself up from the floor and immediately contacted my union representative. I made a decision at fifteen most teenagers do not have to make until their senior year of high school. I decided to venture on my own in order to better my future. Sophomore year, I started attending a residential high school for top performing students in the state of Louisiana. Over the past three years, I lived alone while my parents have traveled all over the continental United States therefore learning how to take care of myself at a young age. Additionally, in a diverse learning community such as the Louisiana School of Math, Science, and the Arts (LSMSA), I was able to learn how to work and live with students whose minds function differently than mine.

As the hallways emptied, the three girls gathered into Desiree’s blue saturn car. Ironically, though her car was beat up, she had managed to dress in only the best and most expensive clothes items. Many were skeptical of her work ethics, and the fact that her bag cost more than her car, but her friends were not. She had always been brutally honest so her friends never questioned why she would never wear the same outfit twice.

Throughout my four years of high school i have experienced many challenges that either set my down or brought me up. As a young adult, i feel like there is so much more to learn ahead of me, other than, learning how to solve a math problem or the history behind many of our countries treasuries. For example, in the article “Into Thin Air”, Krakauer explains, someone who sees the summit would be dead set on getting there and be “very difficult to turn ..around…”(226). Similarly, i have struggled with many things, such as, beating sleep to be able to finish assignments on time and sacrifice my time with my friends and family because i would be in such hurry to finish something that would change my grade drastically the next day, but see my

I am notorious for being clumsy. Sometimes I envision how my senior graduation will turn out, full of trepidation that I will trip on stage as I am approaching my principal to receive my diploma. Regardless, I realize that as the number of days left in high school decreases, it does not matter what happens on stage; all that matters is that I am finally graduating. OR

Ever since I was a little boy sports, arts and crafts, and fixing cars have always been my talents. My family has always should me new things and my main lesson was to always be polite, generous, and work hard. When I was in elementary school I use to play every sport but it never compared to when I played basketball. Once I reached fifth grade I was only playing basketball and bowling. After elementary I started taking school and basketball to a whole new level. Basketball and school were life to me and everyday it was school, basketball, and homework everyday for all three years of middle school. My last year of middle school was the best. All my friends made the team so it was like playing basketball with your friends at lunch. So basketball

“There’s a pool on the fourth floor,” and, “Everybody hates freshman,” were only a few of the rumors that circled the air about high school. It turned out, there was not a pool on the fourth floor; there was not even a fourth floor. Unfortunately, most people did hate freshman. Going from being the biggest people in middle school to the smallest people in high school was terrifying. I did not know how I was going to make it through the year, but somehow I survived.

Usually in highschool it's your friends that make it worthwhile those are the people that you remember and the people that make it even more bearable but for me it's the opposite.
