One of the places we enjoyed walking is what we called the little store or Mrs. Slaters, and it was a 2-mile trek down our winding Box Canyon Road. We may have stopped wearing robes, but we still went barefoot. The heat on the road did not bother our feet. After 2 miles it was so nice to get into this store, we were usually hot and ready for a break. As soon as we walk in, you see the counter in front of you and as we walk in is my favorite candy, chocolate ice cubes starring at me. I would head to those immediately and goodbye to my nickel, every time and all the time. I think they were only 5 cents. Next, I would head to the Doritos, then cream cheese, and then add an RC cola to finish the snack, and to this day I still love Doritos. With
After our little trip to San Antonio River Walk we drove back home to Elisabeth for a fast shower and ate some lunch before the next trip to Alamo Museum also here in Texas. I really like Museums because you can see so many things from the history.
The person I have chosen to do my essay on is Mrs. Gardner. Mrs. Gardner is my advisory teacher. When I first started school here at Potosi High School, I had a very difficult time adjusting to this new place. I had come fresh out of a homeschooling program and before that, I attended a small private school. I was scared that I wouldn't do well in this school. I was especially nervous about grade checks. I've always been a good student and made good grades, but I was worried that the stress of switching schools would get to me and I'd struggle. Mrs. Gardner has been encouraging and empathetic to me since day one. She has reminded me not to worry so much and that as long as I'm doing my best, that's all that matters. She has taught me
When the Weeping Willow trees became abundant around every sector of the car, I knew we were getting close. Once we passed the bridge by the small, grass bank called Cypher Beach, I could barely sit still in the front seat of my grandparents truck because I knew we were about to arrive. There I sat, waiting anxiously with my size ten feet smashed into a size seven foot box because if I removed them, I affected my grandfather's ability to drive and my grandmother’s ability to sit and look pretty. Even though the flip of the coin always caused me to sit in the front, compared to the comfy back where the other four children sat, it was all worth it when we arrived to our destination. The destination was just up the road, where we turned right
Who is Katelyn Ballard? Katelyn is a student, a sister, and most definitely, a pet lover. I am a senior at Franklin County and have lived here since May 30, 1998, which is my birthday. Even though I have lived here seventeen years, I have moved houses six times. I currently live on Tims Ford Lake with my Mom and step dad. I have one older brother, Cody, and two step siblings, Cade and Carly. I have two dogs, Dixie and my favorite, Marley. I enjoy high school, but just like every other senior; I am ready to be done. I plan on entering Motlow’s nursing program then furthering my education at MTSU to become a nurse practitioner. Taking care of people has always been an instinct of mine, so a job in the medical field is ideal for me. I enjoy writing
As part of the greater push at that grade level to introduce kids to a greater depth of books, Mrs. Oak created a game that would award points based on the number and length of books that you read, with a prize being given to the winner at the end of every month (usually candy). Now being the clever nine year old brat that I was, I decided to game the system by quickly flipping through a great number of small children’s books every day. While this did put me ahead on points, I was completely avoiding the entire point of the game. So to Mrs. Oak’s great credit, she decided to limit the number of books I could check out of the school’s library to three per week. With my lead in the literary scoreboard slipping away, I checked out a book that
I am sitting on the first booth table against the wall by the main entrance at Stella’s in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The smell of alcohol and sweat filled my nostrils as I breathe in the stuffy air. All around me are young people who are laughing a little too loudly, flirting with strangers, talking with friends, and playing video games while watching cartoons that are being played all around the bar. There are many people in this bar on a Saturday night at 11:35 pm. There are very little sitting and people coming in and out of various groups of people. Some of the people are losing their balance and attach to a friend or stranger to help them walk in a straight line. The women’s bathroom is packed with women and it is very little to none in
We line up for lunch. Mrs. Price thinks thinks everything’s okay after I gave the sweater to Phyllis Lopez, which made me upset, so I yelled at Phyllis, “You ruined my birthday!” Phyllis ignored me, which made me furious, so I step on her foot. Then she did it back to me, and Mrs. Price sees that and we both get in trouble. Mrs. Price give us a warning, but I decided to calm down instead of breaking down again.
It wasn't until I was an adult that my appreciation for Fred Rodgers was established. I imagine it's the same with most of us. As a child, Mr. Rodgers Neighborhood wasn't my favorite show. It was just something to watch on a warm sunny summer afternoon.

Being raised in a family of 12 in a small town in Texas, if he wanted to go anywhere - he had to walk. When I ventured with him on these walks as a young child, he told me stories, made up challenges about counting the cracks in the sidewalks, and even stopped to pick up worms who had lost their way on the hot pavement because the earth needs worms to grow.
Where do I start? I saw A. And N. finally, after years of stress, I-we saw them. Us four saw her, but couldn’t do anything. So, A bad called Emily leaving her with a voicemail of her screeching laugh with a bunch of background noise. Found out that she was where the protesters were. So today at 12:20 AM I started the hunt. The one before Jessica’s consignment shop was where we thought she would be because we never checked that one. Crossing our fingers, we went into the rusty building. The smell of this place was as horrifying as the visuals. Rotten trees and moss that were never been touch for 10 years, it is visible. Since it was dark we used our phone flashlight but it was still quite scary for us. Well, here comes the part where everything falls apart. As we see a
The first line of my collage is all softball pictures. There is one of me fielding a ball when
On October 17, 2033, I was adopted from The Carey House For Girls soon after my third “birthday”, when Dixon was 10. I was your average orphan girl: left on the doorstep with a name around my neck before I could remember my parents faces, so the day i was taken in (October 11th) became my birthday. I never once wondered about who/where/how my birth parents were. I wasn’t mad that they gave me away nor was i curious as to why they did it. I simply didn’t care. For instance, One day when i was 13, a couple showed up at our house claiming to be my parents. Cia and Page were busy upstairs so I invited them in, shared some juice with them, chatted a bit with them, and then showed them out the door. By the time my mom asked me about who came in,
All I remember is running through the halls trying to find the closest closet or classroom with Debra when suddenly I tripped over her foot and everything goes black.
During the summer, my family and I had gone on a lot of walks. We usually went on Saturdays and spent at least an hour trail walking. Doing this was fun and relaxing for me, especially in the morning, when everything was so peaceful and calm. This fun summer activity also connects with science.
