Spring of 2015, the perfect soccer season is when it happened. I was darting down the large field hoping to intercept the sphered object but before I could reach it, it passed over the white boundary line and I heard the shrill noise of a whistle behind me signaling the ball as out of bounds and the free kick that our team was privileged with. My teammates and I lined up at the eighteen line of the opposing goal in the strategic way we had practiced two days before. Our striker kicked the ball from the corner of the field , it soared through the air, pieces of grass and dirt flying off of it as it was sailing through the sky. The ball was heading straight to the front of the goal, my instict made me shoot from my current stance
Soccer always been a great part of my life. I play it since, I was three years old. My greatest moment was the final game of the district tournament. It was the first time for me and my teammates to make it that far. I had to act like I got it all under control since I was the captain of the team but I was shaking until the game started. The game went by fast, it was the minute 89 and it was a draw one to ne after my friend’s header goal from the corner kick. We had two minutes before we go to extra time and everyone in the field already so exhausted. The other team had the ball, and I was at the center back, I ran and cut the ball from the other team, I began running as fast as I can. I was not sure either to pass it or keep
Growing up I had focused on competitive soccer. Soccer challenged me both physically and mentally and I learned to love these demands on the field. These challenges helped me foster a self-confidence in myself when it came to athletics. When I fractured my tibia playing against my rival high school, sending my knee cap into my thigh, I was faced with a new test. The sport that I loved was taken away from me for an extended period of time and it took away part of my identity. Who was I without soccer?
But in some of the greatest moments of skill I might ever have I had one moment of luck. The ball ricocheted in my direction, but not at me. Both of my feet left the ground, directed at the ball that would have gone far right if I hadn't. I scissor kicked it, striking the ball with my right foot, and hoped for the best. Only seconds later, I was lying on the ground with a crowd cheering. Then came the sudden realization- We are in the
When I was eight years old, I played my first season of soccer. The real reason I played soccer was because my dad forced me to play. I loved to play all kinds of sports such as basketball, baseball and football but I was never interested in soccer. After my first practice I already realized soccer was not for me. I told my dad that I did not want to play anymore but he would not listen and made me keep going to practice. At my 3rd practice, the whole team was running laps and I tripped over a stick and fell down. My ankle was hurting pretty bad but I knew I was going to be fine. While I was lying on the ground, I thought to myself If I tell the coach and my dad that my ankle is hurt really bad than I won’t have to play anymore. I thought it was a genius idea at the time. I told them just that and it worked! I have no idea how my dad knew this but once I got home he knew that I was milking my injury. He told me something that night that I won’t ever forget. He told me “you didn’t just give up on yourself, you gave up on your team”. He called the coach the next day and told him that
I was shaking from nervousness. I knew that I had to give it everything I had for the sake of my team. I ran out on the field. As the ball was being played on the other side, I prayed that I would have an opportunity to help my team. Not a minute later, the ball flew up over me and the rest of the offense. One of the midfielders dashed to the ball. She ran down into the corner and passed it to the middle. I stood there, anticipating the drop and ready to score. As the ball fell to the ground, I took a small step back. I quickly got my balance, and shot as hard as I could. Time seemed to stand still as the ball flew through the air, over the goalies hands, and right into the corner of the goal. I had done it. I had broken the tie. My whole team rushed over to give me a hug. I was almost crying from joy. I could hear my parents and the other fans cheering for me from the sidelines. Shortly after we took the lead yet again, the final whistle blew. We had
I took a deep breath, shuffled up to the ball, and swung. Time stopped. It was a powerful kick and thankfully, headed in the right direction. The ball swerved around all of the many players inside of the box. One obstacle, gone. The goalie dove for the ball, hands outstretched, but just barely missed the ball . Another obstacle, gone. Now the ball just had to cross the line, and it did. I scored! A huge weight that had been stopping me from breathing was lifted off my chest. My teammates went crazy, as they rushed towards me to congratulate me. We exchanged hugs and high-fives, adrenaline rushing through us. Now all we had to do was keep Ursula from scoring for another 4
I never expected my life to turn out this way!! 2020 Darren Clayton enters the NFL draft to contend against top players most teams wanted. I was surprised that I had made it that far.Now imam take you back to my childhood. I was only 10 years old in 2010 I wasn’t really a football lover, I was mostly a basketball fan. I mainly played basketball and watched it more than football. I never played football in my life the only sports I played was basketball and baseball but I never pursued it to the fullest it was just something I would do in the mean time to kill sometime in elementary school and middle school. In middle school I got curious about football so I joined the flag football team and played at an tournament against other people. At the tournament we played three teams, we only won
As I was getting ready for the most important game of my eleven year soccer career, I began recollecting on how my love of soccer began.
So I finished the first game of the soccer tournament and my team won. My family and I decided to celebrate the first win by going out to see downtown St. Louis. I said to my parents “Hey we should go to the St. Louis arch it's not far away and we can get food there ”. Since I was after the game. My mom says “That's a great idea get me the directions there”. So I started typing in the directions on my phone and it said 15 minutes to destination. I told my dad who didn’t want to go “its 15 minutes away from here”. My dad said ”Let's go back to the hotel and you and your brother can go to the pool”. So after a whole argument with him I finally convinced him to go. So I gave him the phone with the directions and said “Don’t forget i'm still hungry”
When looking back at the game’s conditions, it was just an unusually hot, sunny October morning, but during the game, it felt like the heat had taken away all of my energy. This soccer game was an important one for my soccer team as we played one of the toughest teams in our competitive league, although no one on our team knew that before the game. This was because of the first time we played them it was the easiest game we had so far in the league so far because of superior skills and tactics. So, our team walked so confidently around the field that it looked like we had already won the game before it even started. Even though we knew that they had more bigger, athletic players on their team and weather conditions were hotter than the first
Soccer and a park, throw in some friends and it magically becomes fun. I can tell you this without a doubt because I did this myself on Friday. When I got to Emerald Glen, I saw that Vince, Justin, their dad, and Matthew were already there playing soccer on the grass field by the skate park. I went ahead and joined them, and we did some simple offense and defense drills. After a few minutes of that, Vince and I played a weird little game that seemed like a soccer version of volleyball while Justin, his dad, and Matthew kicked the ball around to each other. While we were playing our soccer volleyball game, me and Vince talked about random little things like how there’s a Fawaz A and Fawaz B, But there isn’t a Fawaz C or D. Later, we took turns at the goal while the others kicked.
It was a hot summer day at HMS.I was looking at the school’s sports board.I played almost all of the sports up there, football, basketball, and tennis. The one I haven’t played was soccer.I was not very good at soccer but it was worth a try.

It was hot. However hot does not sound descriptive enough for the situation. More like I could feel the moisture leaving my body and slowly feeling more and more exhausted. It was day 4 of my football camp at Eastern Washington University and the dorm I was staying in had no AC... or windows that opened. Yet, during this football I learned many new things both about football and myself.
Throughout the semester, I also began to develop an appreciation for soccer because of him. I only played soccer in kindergarten and wasn’t a fan of playing the game, but Diego grew up with the sport and wanted to keep playing despite our campus not having any sports. We were both athletic in high school and found soccer as a way to stay in shape and be competitive. Whether it be scrimmaging at the Bryant Park field or playing FIFA until 4 A.M., soccer was a way for us and our floor to bond. Our floor didn’t have a theme, but by the first month we turned the seventh floor into the FIFA floor because of us developing the same enjoyment for the
