I have worked at the Phelps Mansion as a docent. In middle school I played basketball and field hockey. In high school I was in drama club and helped with productions in the past. I am available for anything art related, I have lots of experience in this field. I would also feel comfortable with drama or garden club. Anything literacy related is welcome

Green, black and white, the colors we represented from kindergarten on. The pride we had for Southlake Carroll was indescribable. Our Friday nights consisted of the lights of the stadium and families who eat, sleep and breathe “The Tradition”. We were raised to become the Dragons or in my case the endless hours of training to become an Emerald Belle wasn’t an option, it was a lifestyle. Although Southlake is known for great academics the favoritism was very noticeable. I was spoiled with the leniency of the teachers who felt sympathy for my fourteen hour days. I got free passes and green lights, not gonna lie, it was pretty great. When I got hurt and my training to become the highly idolized Emerald Belle came to an end, so did the free passes.

I didn't always live in California. Before California I lived in Denver, Colorado. Before Denver I lived in Aurora, Colorado. When we moved to california we had a family of five. We moved to California, when I was six, Then we lived at my grandma’s house in Riverside for a year. We found a place on Ferree Street and that became our home.
On Monday 6/29/2015 Sgt. Alexander and I was dispatched to the Hostess House located at 6741 Highway 70 in reference to 2 subject, Mr. Burnette and Mr. Jacobs that were renting room 251 and had outstanding warrants.
I am on the boat to the Connecticut Colony, Wethersfield. After days of being sea sick. I hear a voice “There is Connecticut Colony.” There is a boy, Nathaniel Eaton who is right behind me. He has only spoken a dozen words to me so he talking is a surprise. It tells me something though he has noticed me on the ship. He is the captain's son. His mother calls him Nat. Finally stepping on land for the first time in what feels like forever. I was ridiculed on how boring and dull the shore was. Fortunately this was not my final destination, my final destination was Wethersfield and this was Saybrook. After a short break we set out again for Wethersfield not being very exciting at first look. I thought of something that could be exciting like meeting
I am not from San Antonio. I am not from Texas. I’m from California. Where no one twangs, or drawls, or even says hi to the stranger standing in line at the grocery store. Texas, half way across the U.S and what seems like a whole other country compared to California. It is a completely different place that I could have ever imagined living and calling home. I came to Texas to find myself. I didn’t know that when I came here, but it is what ended up happening.
I witnessed my cousins boyfriend corpse lying on my neighbors lawn. It was a humid summer night around 3:30 when I peeked through my window and saw my devastated cousin sobbing uncontrollably on my decaying porch. Being from East chicago, Indiana has transformed me into the person I am today.
Literacy rates have declined at a rapid rate due to the neglect of available educational resources and opportunities. Our country has failed at preparing our youth and will continue to do so unless a change is made. A decline in literacy rates have been a result of many unnecessary changes that may lead our country into a literacy depression. Improper education, limited access to books, technology, and poor role models all has made literacy spiral downward. We should ask ourselves what we can do and not try to do in order to make literacy rates rise.
Hinds Community College has undoubtedly enabled me to grow as both a student and a leader during my time enrolled. My passion has always lie in the film and media industry, which made Hind’s film program the perfect choice for me. Before entering this program my skills were unrefined, but now I have been given the knowledge to pursue a career in the film industry with the confidence in my ability to complete any necessary job. Since joining this program, I have become the Media Associate at First Ridgeland Baptist church in charge of all video projects, the sole video contractor for Harmonic Audio and Concert Production which is a multi-state concert production company, the lead contractor for a major theater
The family I interviewed has a son named Cuyler that is 22 years old. I talked to Cuyler’s mom Cathie. He is the oldest of three kids. Cuyler was born at 24 weeks’ gestation and had a grade 3 brain bleed. Because of being born premature and the bleeding in his brain it led to some of the disabilities Cuyler has. His mom told me that Cuyler has spastic quadriplegia. His disabilities include cerebral palsy, blindness, and he is nonverbal. She also told me that Cuyler also has seizures at least once a month, is hypotonic, and is fed by a g-tube. As far as physical movement the only gross motor skills that Cuyler can do is roll over.
After growing up in Memphis, Tennessee, I did not know much about the rest of the country. My family would venture into North Carolina or Florida for various summer vacations, however, I often felt stuck in the “Memphis bubble.” I attended my first year of college at Rhodes College, which was located near my house. That year forced me to realize that I have a desire to experience different cultures and perspectives, and as a result, I decided to transfer to TCU. Fort Worth has provided a drastically different culture that I appreciate, but I still want to experience life in California, Colorado, the Pacific Northwest, the Northeast, and abroad after I graduate college. It is a goal of mine to spend time in every part of the country and visit
It was the Saturday before the last week of first grade and my family and I were attending a kickstart into summer barbecue at Scott Shaw’s house. Accompanied by my mother, father, brother, and my father’s 20 plus mountain biking, “crunchy granola” friends and spouses, we all arrived with summer’s approaching warmth on our faces. Everyone shoveling food into their mouths, playing ping pong, pool and swimming, everything was going smoothly.
