Gay marriage is a topic that is so often discussed by those with highly diverse opinions. As some people agree with those of the same sex pursuing marriage, others do not seem to feel the same way. This fact can apply to individuals as well as entire countries. Several of these individuals and countries originally agreed with the subject of gay marriage as others were required to be forced due to the fact that their ban on gay marriage was decided as unconstitutional. Same-sex marriage is a controversial issue in today's world where some choose to agree with the decision of homosexual people and some choose to oppose it, all doing so usually for different reasons.

Same-sex couples should have the right to get married because they have civil rights like all other citizens. The world should not disregard them from society, but unfortunately that is the way it is. People who like the same sex shouldn't be categorized in society as people to be frowned upon when they lead a good example, but others disagree. Gay marriage is a very important issue in modern society in the U.S because it is more accepted than what it used to be by everyday people and household life is healthier than in opposite sex marriages; unfortunately, it is still frowned upon by many and some business owners still decline service due to discrimination.

Same-sex marriage allows marriage between man and man or woman and woman. This is an age old fight between conservatives and democrats. Traditionally marriage has been between man and woman, conservatives hold to this idea, while typically democrats push for marriage equality among genders. People who are pro-legalization argue denying a person marriage from someone is an act of discrimination and creates second class citizens. Though those who are anti-legalization argue the institution should remain between man and woman as per tradition. Pro same sex marriage is the position many people are beginning to adopt as they realize love is love and the gender of the people does not matter. To provide true equality gay marriage needs to be legalized in all countries around the world, which also helps to create a safer environment for those in the LGBT+ community by not being legally discriminated against.

As America seemingly turns to the left, albeit by judicial fiat, the Right will have its revenge in 2016 via the legitimate voice of the people, the ballot box. This is where real change happens. In addition, people cannot grasp the evolution of marriage. Traditional marriages have changed periodically; therefore, marriages are not considered traditional. Therefore, heterosexual marriages have been around unexplainably for quite a while. In addition, there could not be a meaning of “traditional” marriage. All marriages are different from others. For example, some marriages are interracial marriages, and others are open marriages. Therefore, Heterosexual marriages could be no different from a “traditional” marriage. People make same-sex marriages out to be a negative effect. Traditional marriages, open marriages, or heterosexual marriages do not matter because they all have the same love connection between each other.

We live in a country behind this idea that we are supposed to be protected by commandment to have “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness”. From the passing of proposition 8 to states individually making homosexual marriage legal, revolution is starting to happen. Massachusetts was the first state to legalize gay marriage, not so long after, other states joined. It will not be long before homosexual marriage is accepted worldwide. As of today there are a total of thirty seven states that have validated gay marriage. Same-sex marriage should be legalized due to the growth of our country as a whole, in order to fully understand we must look at individual rights, religion and the well-being of our society.
